Except Mog is able to sense Korvaak’s defeat. His Avatar in Act VI has some comments about it. Aetherials are also privy to some info that travels through the aether, they should be able to sense the defeat of a Primordial.

Uro’s notes mention Chthonians being drawn towards Korvaak’s presence. Ketan’Thunn’s lore note describes he was summoned to blot out the Eldritch Sun himself. You’d think he’d be some Super Boss with such a description and not some random purple boss.
Korvaak himself is no better than a random purple boss these aeons.
Why are you even here?
I dont even recall reading any lore notes about you!
#Forgottengod you are
I’m just a little shy.

What’s being a primordial these days when mortals can kill it at level 20?
this is something that makes me wonder-- In Korvak’s note after you beat him, he states that he LOST and the other Gods who used the void won. So there’s other primordials out there that won in the conflict that took place, but they’re now insane slaves to the void (“the whispers have them now”). This makes you wonder if C’thon might not be the only Void driven threat that might be introduced, since there’s presumably a great number of non-injured, fully powered Primordials that are enslaved to the void too.
This begs the question of just how C’thon relates to the war that took place. Empyrion’s spear implies that he was the one who killed C’thon and the Ruminations of the primordial one by Korvak calls the living beings of Cairn “their” creations, meaning that Empyrion and Korvak (and any others allied with them) were the ones who Killed C’thon and made life.
BUT according to Korvak’s note they were NOT the ones who used the powers of the void, so it seems to imply they weren’t the ones who tossed his body into the void.
This is just a bit of a guess, but it would appear that the primordials were united in killing C’thon and using his blood to make life, but then afterwards there was a civil war of how to dispose of his body and the other primordials that defeated Korvak and Empyrion were the ones who banished C’thon’s corpse to the void.
On that note, the difference in a mortal and a primordial isn’t actually that great when one examines the lore-- Mortals were made from the Blood of a god, meaning they essentially ARE tiny pieces of a god. So when a mortal kills a Primordial, its not just some piece of dirt killing them, its literally a piece of C’thon rising up and killing them.
Krossbow - yeah Korwak (and then by default, Empyrion and Ulzuin) were on the losing side. But that doesn’t mean he was the only god out there remaining who is not “claimed by the void”. I recall the Circle of Four missive (or was it five?) going on about “THEY are turning their eyes towards Cairn” as in, the other gods. The Aetherials were once banished to the Aether by their former masters, of course they would fear their return. I doubt all the gods are gone. As Anasteria tells you, there are a myriad of words the gods created. Maybe their attention is simply elsewhere now. Korvaak retreated here to recuperate because he had the biggest following here. But I see no reason why gods would not be worshiped on multiple worlds.
So I noticed a lot of people calling Callagadra a ‘she’. Is there some proof for that? Last I checked the only info about the boss comes from the dropped helmet. Or is it just the ‘a’ latin declination logic there?
She’s a bitch to kill, that’s probably why ;p
If you tell Mordrogen from AoM cave that you killed Korvaak, he first don’t believe that and later tell that you were just a conduit for “this cowards”. Basically it witch gods who killed Korvaak using you as a proxy conduit xD
I can see that considering Korvaak’s death animation, but I do think you weakened him enough to the point where the witch gods can step in. (Still hate the witch gods though.)
I am with Mordrogen on that. Also doing forgotten gods after act 1 makes no sense to me, I’m just going to drop all that I am doing to help out a weird random stranger standing in a magical circle?
Given their fear of confronting Korvak directly, I got the impression that if they attacked him directly with their eldritch realm powers he would have been able to do something like power drain them, hence why they needed a pawn to weaken him first.
Rich coming from a guy who wears leveling gear. Maybe try upgrading your armor so builds don’t kill you in 6 seconds
The latter.
Speaking of Callie, her lore is crap. I hope they fix it. The entire point of Superbosses was that they had a quite a bit of lore and build-up to them. This boss has lesser build up than Kyzogg.
Word.
Would have made more sense if the content got accessible after the Order or Kymon Honored quest. But it would have been unfair to casual players. Not to mention people who think the game is already big enough would have gotten burnt out real quick.
Spot on, if you notice that before the fight you can see the thrones brimming with power of The Three but when Korvaak steps in all three thrones start channeling his power. Even while chained he was able to influence the beasts of Korvan Basin and have his minions invade Bysmiel’s playground.
Also I am still not clear about Ketan’Thunn -
-
He is creepily standing at a corner like he is jacking off and doesn’t react to your presence for a good amount of time. What was he doing.
-
He is literally the only chthonian out there, you’d think he would have at least summoned a small rift to the void to summon help.
-
If he doesn’t need any help then why is he so quick to go down. Inashkor gave me a harder time. If this guy is supposed to be the void’s only response to Korvaak’s return then I’d say he should have been much more powerful.
Would have been better if we would have found some cultists next to a portal and when your enter the rift you are greeted by some chthonians and at the end of it you meet Ketan’Thunn.
About Ketan’Thunn:
Bloodsworn Manuscript
This parchment appears to have been torn out of some larger tome and is covered in a fresh layer of hastily written notes. What remains is covered in what you assume is human blood.
Ketan’Thunn, herald of the darkness, we beseech you. Our Bloodlord has fallen, and by association with his blunders we were made to suffer; but hear us, master of our blood, for we come bearing an offering. This land, these ruins, they are brimming with power, power which reeks of the enemies of the Dying One.
We beseech you with this offering of blood. Come forth! May the shadows of the void follow in your wake that the Eldritch Sun be blotted out. And when the void has consumed this fallen kingdom, may we stand beside you with but a taste of your eternal glory. Then we shall go forth in your name and gather blood from the unworthy.
The remainder of the text is written in glyphs beyond your understanding. Even peering upon them fills your head with thoughts of murder and spilled blood.
I wonder if they were defeated by Uroboruuk or Kymon’s/Korvaak’s Chosen.
Could be a bit of both tbh. When I first read it I thought the small party of chthonians that went to investigate the power in the Korvan Basin got defeated and summoned this guy with the blood they could salvage. But the note hypes him up decently, you’d think the being that they bet on to defeat Korvaak would be a little more than a creep standing in the corner like a perver
I was puzzled as to why he did not call forth more beings. Also there is that Eldirtch Sandclaw Razortrix that you find in the void as a part of Solael’s quest.
What is an Eldritch creature doing in a void surrounded by Ryloks.
These two creatures intrigue me from a lore pov.
After rereading the lore on the constellations, do you get the feeling Crate made a retcon on how the Witch Gods ascended?
Its confirmed after FG that the WG gained their powers by stealing Korvaak’s. However, the constellations tell a different story with regards to their ascension.
Dreeg - Peered in the Eldritch Realm and got instant godhood. In FG, he became a servant of Korvaak after peering and only ascended after his betrayal.
Solael - Ascended through the sacrifice of countless souls. Makes me think Uro really was close to godhood if he completed the ritual Dravis did.
Bysmael - Immaculate ascension. Just kidding. It would be still be lore-friendly if Bysmael’s capture and sudden disappearance was all a ruse by the great manipulator.
It’s actually quite simply. The Witch Gods don’t want people to know, how they actually ascended.
Ehhh… I understand lore notes can contain inconsistencies since they are written from the PoV of the writer so it can contain bias and/or lack of knowledge. But when it comes to constellations, I was thinking it is the be-all for lore on the deities and cosmic entities.
For instance, the people of Cairn should not know about the presence or identity of Yugol yet but the constellation with accompanying lore exists. In fact, for the people of the Shattered Realm, they also did not know about Yugol until centuries after they banished their god and it is already too late.
The constellations are Targo’s handiwork, right? Maybe he had some reason to ensure the Forgotten God remained forgotten. I mean even Mogdrogen didn’t like Kymon disturbing the ruins of Korvan basin
Hey everyone got a few questions after completing the Forgotten God content.
I’m not completely sure of the timeline of what happened. So Korvaak existed first. Empyrion apparently was a real thing but decided to leave for some reason. Korvaan people need help so they summon Korvaak a worse version of Empyrion. I imagine this is about the time where the whole cutting up of Chthon happened.
Korvaak uses powers from the Eldritch realm and seems to be the first there. Does Empyrion use Eldritch powers?
Some time later Dreeg a human sees into the Eldritch Realm and gains enough power to become a God. Bysmiel and Solael follow. As crazy as the three are, they seem to actually care/show empathy to their followers, and because of that they realize they need to take Korvaak down.
After the first time they take him down, the Korvaan empire falls. Father Kymon relies on Korvaak’s power to defeat Chthon and tries to summon him again. Witch Gods align once more and try to take Korvaak down.
Does that seem a pretty accurate summary? Where does Ulzuin fall into this? He was a loyal follower of Korvaak but from the notes it seems he fell in love with a priestess(was that Bysmiel disguised?), and then went crazy and went away for a bit.
I noticed when FG first came out there were memes asking if we were really the bad guys. I’m wondering why? It seems clear Korvaak was clearly a bad guy, and the only reason he wanted followers was for his own gain and you see how cruel he was in some of the lore notes, specifically Rhenet the Rat one. Yeah Rhenet got a little cocky, but Korvaak personally come down to cures him for eternity.
I know it was a lot of questions, but I still feel a little confused. Any help would be appreciated, thanks everyone!
