SR Timer rebalanse discussion

Continuing the discussion from V1.3.0 Playtest Changelog:

I’ve tested some of my very specific builds with new timer. Based on facts that SR balanced up to SR60 (old scaling) but dev’s goal is to increase the variety of viable builds in the SR70-90, I make 2 runs for each build: SR24 and SR30.

Results without overall build performance
  1. Barrelsmith - Low CD Grenado/Canister memtalist. Old build require tune up.
    Elementalist, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
    AoE dmg - very high, Solo dmg - high
    SR24-25 - Beat SR30-31 - Beat
    In fact first attempt fail SR24 when met Shattered Cronley in boss room, that turned out very durable, so that more RNG than Challenge.

  2. Invert - Specific multi-conversion PRM
    Mage Hunter, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
    AoE dmg - insane, Solo dmg - very high
    SR24-25 - Beat SR30-31 - Beat
    All PRM build in good state now, so not surprised new timer not a problem.

  3. Judge Targo - Low CD Judgement
    Warlord, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
    AoE dmg - high, Solo dmg - average
    SR24 - Beat, SR25 - Fail, SR30 - Beat low timer, SR31 - Fail
    Build that literally designed aroud one AoE skill obviously clear common chunks, but stopped by boss room.

  4. Myrmidon - Set skill + WPS DK Tank
    Death Knight, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
    AoE dmg - average, Solo dmg - low
    SR24 - Fail, SR30 - Fail
    Very tanky build that designed to Beat deep SR, not its timer. Old scaling was challenge for build, but new one became impossible.

  5. Thunder Aviarist - Lightning Hybrid
    Conjurer, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
    AoE dmg - very high, Solo dmg - very high
    SR24-25 - Beat, SR30 - Beat low timer, SR31 - Fail
    Build have not enough survivability to push SR, It kites that slow passthrow. SR30 is the ceiling for the build in general.

  6. Voidsoul Devourer - Specific Chaos Ignaffar.
    Purifier, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
    AoE dmg - very high, Solo dmg - very high
    SR24-25 - Beat, SR30 - Beat low timer, SR31 - Fail
    Current spec have very big voracity of Energy, that slow passthrow. Stop casting is tantamount to death. SR30 is the ceiling for the build. With tune up or change equipment may change performance, but not in this testing cycle.

TL, DR. Out of 6 tested builds 1 not affected by timer changes, 1 can not beat new timer ever, and 4 could be listed as challenge timer.

So, let’s talk about:
Does not new timer cut off timer reward for some builds?
If new timer increase challenge, is not reward also must be increased?
How new timer perform for Your build #2147483646 of Top2147483647 builds?

Hate to say it, but it’s a build issue, times 6.

*can’t speak for 32+(old 80 up)
but Z touched on in another thread that SR had gotten too rewarding, so loot wouldn’t be adjusted but maintained, thus making time v reward more comparable to Cruci New SR Souls value distribution feedback - #8 by Zantai
Since Z didn’t mention it yet either, i’m not even sure if the goal was to make 85-90 more open/build available, or if it’s still centred around 65-75(26-31) for “avg” build variety intention :thinking:
