Starting a new village is very time consuming by finding the right map

Seems like the OP isn’t participating to the conversation.

I think you should. ‘Right’ and ‘balanced’ is not the same as ‘unplayable’.

But it seems reasonable to assume that I started at the top levels, and want that changed, dumbed down and/or removed?

Give me a break.

All I did was ask for a true sandbox mode, and many here think this is it.

77 seasons of play, 147 worker deaths

A sadistic sandbox, to be sure.

What part of
"… FINDING THE RIGHT MAP"
escapes you, little one?

I think it escapes you. They clearly have a matter of perspective on what is right. To them. That doesn’t make the maps they pass up unplayable, that simply means they do not want to play on that map.

The fact that you think someone’s perception of something being unplayable (yours) makes it factually so is ridiculous.

You have a chiropractor on retainer, don’t 'cha?
Twisting around on yourself like that must be painful!

My point is still the same as it was at the start of this. :man_shrugging:

Of course it is.
Wear a hat, and no one will see it.

Couldn’t agree more! Personally, I prefer randomly generated maps to see what can be done there.

It’s very difficult to get the map you want.
I think it would be difficult to develop without the necessary resources.
Mastering the means of commerce is troublesome.

Look for them because it’s easier to have all the resources on the map. However, you may be missing what you were supposed to get.

If you look around you, there are many things that are missing.
A map with all resources may be an anomaly if you look for it.
Depending on what you want out of this game, you’ll either enjoy the map or struggle with it.

I guess what devs could maybe do is a map completely flat covered in trees, fertility and fodder at 100% everywhere, no rocks, no weed, each resource type every 100m in huge quantities …

They could call it the Eden map, just need to put an apple tree in the middle.

This is why I haven’t even tried anything other than medium/medium/medium at the moment lol. I need to be able to dominate that before I even think about the hard stuff some of you all are taking on lol.

I have had many maps that don’t have, or only have very little one or more resources. You have to build and trade. I think many people underrate the value of the market. Even early on you can trade between the traders and fund growth.

I just want to play the hardest difficulty on a map that has all the resources even on very limited ones. I’m tired of challenges too especially the ones that needs time to finish. So I found a seed that has all especially my 2 desired renewable resources (Willow and medicinal roots). It’s on Alpine Valley with very less flat area. It just took a few rerolls and the seed became my favorite despite being tight to have 25 shelters in one area.

Idc if it takes so much time for me to finish T4 and experience a ransom demand because I play the game to infinity. So i lately had it on Vanquisher too at 360. Guess what I have to go back to a previous save because I don’t want to exhaust every node of my finite resources and restructure my settlement. So I will be trading my shoes, clothings, soap, pelts and herbs for clay, sand, coal, iron, gold and/or any other resources that don’t decay.

I guess every map on this game is playable on any difficulty. I’m sure there are hunts (regardless if it’s not deer), land to tilt, some trees and some to forage.

My entire reaction to this thread in a nutshell.

I’m ringing the bell, everyone retire to opposite corners. Please.

I play map that looks pretty because it does not matter what resources it have, you will always succeed!

Sorry folks, but I am working during the week, mostly play at the weekend

For me, who plays the easier options, like everything on pioneer or befor I played pioneer + pacifist,
an unplayable map is something where I have no coal and others stuff, it will get harder for productions if resources are missing, especially making gold is also not easy all the time.

When I play the idyllic map, which is announced as very ballanced with everything, good for beginners, I expect such a map without needing to explore the whole map to check if that is true

  • no it is not true as a wrote in my first post.

I am a normal player, I am not a “hard gamer who needs challenges all the time”, I want settling just for fun.
I assume there are a lot of potential new players out there who want the same.

So without knowing, that all maps are random and can totally differ in amount of resources and yes, not good positioned hills to build a big village

  • for a BEGINNER, this could be very frustrating and can also lead to stop playing.

I will have a look into the seeds list.

But I would love, like Asheira noted, something like an info panel with all resources and amount listed, when the map starts, at least, then I don’t need to search the whole map.
It would save a lot of time

AND everyone can decide to play the maps they want, easy or harder, but a little help is much appreciated.

I also spent some time looking for a map that had everything.
On Japanese strategy sites, we also share map seeds and play with them.
I was lucky enough to get a flatland map with all the resources, lots of plains and swamps. But no megarocks are generated.
It would be nice if there was a thread to share map seeds in Steam.

So go create such a thread. Anyone can!
