I think a few things are missing from the Storage system.
1/ A nice improvement would be to allow clicking the item icons in the trader window to open the production limits window. That way, you can get an idea if you will have excess stock, sufficient stock remaining, or can create enough stock quickly to replenish.
2/ More complicated…from the production limits window, list/highlight the storages containing that item. (I know I have them, but where the heck are they so I can adjust storage settings)
3/ Storage hierarchy/priority. - At present, you can create a sort of 2 level hierarchy with storage limits. e.g. Build storage near a producer, but set the max to 0, will create a transit low level storage. Labourers will come and clear it pretty quickly. All other storage has the same level priority (except trading post, which has the highest priority). I have not really found a way to make different levels so that I can create prioritised “raw input materials” close to manufacturers, as distinct from general “overflow” storage. Maybe a “high/medium/low” priority for labourers to fill storage, as distinct from pure closest storage selection. And no, I don’t think creating individual storages for all 68 items in the game is appropriate.
4/ Livestock on the trader screen. They always show as 0 town stock, presumably because they have been “consumed” by the barn etc. Maybe barns need to be treated as storage, as well as manufacturers. Is there a way to trade (sell) livestock that I haven’t found yet ?
You can’t sell animals, though I do wish there was an easier way to tell how many of an animal you own. Chickens especially get out of control very quickly if you don’t stop their growth
