Suggestion: Professions tab distribution presets

I’ve noticed in the cycle of play I tend to put my workers into a couple of common job distribution states.

When I’m being raided I’ll set my miners, workcamps, and wagons to zero to avoid them being killed. This requires about 150 clicks, then when the raid is over another 150 to put them all back.

When I want a lot of building done I’ll free up about 100 miners to get it done quickly, then put them back again afterwards.

It would be great if on the profession tab you could save a couple of presets of your current job assignments and then quickly change between them. That would also make it easy to click one button to reassign vacant job slots after some villagers die and leave them empty.

I don’t think that’s practical.

On the other hand something that would help you and be a really flexible addendum would be combo clicks.

For example:

  • Ctrl + click adds or removes 10 workers
  • Shift + click adds or removes all the workers

Curious why you don’t think that’s practical?

I agree the shift and Ctrl batch clicking needs to be added too.

In short, because presets cannot adapt to the population shrinking.

Fair enough, sure it wouldn’t suit every situation. It would probably be more effort than it’s worth if you were expanding a lot too. But, in my games at least, the majority of the time is spent pretty stable where it would be useful.

I didn’t read it in the patch notes, but in the 0.8.0p2 it’s been implemented:
