Suggestions for the battle system

I. We are willing to see more dropping treasures by defeating looters, like gold or food or equipments etc. Therefore we will get more interests in researching defending methods.

II.In latestest version defending town is too easy, all can be settled by a little arrow towers. The barracks, the soldiers are toooo expensive to maintain and give far less help in the battle than the arrow tower. We hope maybe in future version soldiers can be used to raid other settlements like bandit lair or the evil ‘lord’ ‘s town itself, even other players’ towns! That would both get us chance to revenge and give more use to the barrack soldiers, and would be so much fun!!

III. The stone wall in medieval may be more useful that many guardians can stand on it and shooting arrows or close combat with more advantages. Hopping in the future version, we can deploy some town folks stand on the wall and meantime the looters or army would use some siege towers or ladders~

IV. We all notice that there is too little sense of fulfillment from successing defending our town waves by waves. Really hope that maybe can add some statistics of total killing looters count and success defending times.

V. Hoping in the future we would have more interactive settlements or factions like in grim dawn, we can aid them to grow relationships or raid them to become rival!

VI. Nowadays losing a villager seems like a little trouble that players don’t mind. We think maybe can add some traits to the villagers that repeatedly working in some area or just live a long life. Then players will gain great loss by losing some powerful villagers so that would give more attention in preventing them from death.

These are all really good ideas. I imagine there’ll be a future patch centered entirely around raiding. I’d personally like to see them pivot a little away from the tower defense/Rimworld style of base raids. As you noted in #2, it’d be cool if raiders spawned their own small camps or settlement around your map and you could go out and raid them yourself.

It’s a tough balance for sure because right now if you pivoted away from that the game would lose a lot of its sandbox rng element. Rimworld has both raids and the ability to raid others on different maps with its caravan feature. Maybe they can do something similar to that to mix it up a bit. But yeah I do think the raiders will be the centerpiece of a pretty big content update at some point before launch

Why do you think that would make it any less of a RNG sandbox? As you said, Rimworld has raids, the ability to raid others, and also ‘events’ that require you to travel to outposts to deal with threats. By ‘pivot away from,’ I meant refine and expand the role other AI, raiders, and combat plays in the player’s need to explore and expand to find new/more resources.

If you don’t want to play with any of these, you can simply play in pacifist mode.

Ah I see. I thought pivot away meant lessen the feature

Yeah bro, it would let us gain more sense of substitution! The tension from the barbarian horde!!!

I like the ideas, however I need to correct point one: the looters don’t drop treasures, it’s the stuff that they stole from you.

In point six: they already exist, if all you’re teachers die in combat, then the school stops functioning. (The school gives education, and those people are basically more important to save (it’s better to save everyone.)

Their is a point that we need some kind of treasure/reward. Special buildings, secret production chain, and more. Secret or mysterious stuff is always nice.

I second this.

I’ve got similiar feelings about the raids in overall and especially an issue with barracks, It’d be nice to have some more control for stationed soldiers there, since they are kinda useless atm when the raid comes from a different side of the town.

You also should be able to get some kind of token reward for slain raiders (maybe even something simple as boost in morale) and they should be more challenging or the penalty for lost villagers during the raid more severe. Right now I feel like the easiest strategy is to place all storages in one place and wall it with arrow towers, they always target them and you don’t really feel the loss in village population anyway.

Here is one idea with expierience for workers and the job they do:

Yeah bro you are right. Still I hope killing looters would let us gain some rare gears or some resources that not only stole from us but also carried by them!

Nice points bro! Wish the crate developers can see these.:+1:

Yeah you can lose as many colonists as you’d like and the town will just painlessly repopulate while you do other stuff. It’d be nice to see some kind of debuff or maybe more of a chronic injury dynamic where you have villagers that die but several survivors who aren’t productive for years as a result (there is a small mechanic for this but it’s rare in my experience so far. Should happen more often). Maybe a colonist loses an arm and is now less effective doing certain jobs for life. And make it a bit more punishing trying to just repopulate a town after a bunch die

Wow! That would be more exciting!

Immigrants should be a bit more hesitant migrating to a colony that just had 70 people slaughtered over 8 bags of flour!

in the barracks, add the ability to patrol by building barracks, you can send each of the trained soldiers to patrol the road or patrol along the wall, add towers on the walls that allow you to climb the wall and patrol from tower to tower (towers that will be installed on walls).
build (new building) garrisons where soldiers can spend the night to be always ready for patrol

Garrisonable walls with inbuilt tower points would be a lot better. We should also be able to upgrade gates to include gate houses with portcullis and possibly oil / boiling water drops when they bunch up at the gates.

I’ve also noticed raiders tend to just bash down walls, we should be able to upgrade stone walls to curtain walls. The only entry points should be the gate houses.

In the old PC games Zeus and Cleopatra. you could send troops to support neighbours and get new trade routes or raid neighbours for goods.

I noticed you had a run in with our moderators for bumping threads…

I’d just like to personally reassure you (and everyone else reading), we do stop in the ideas and feedback section throughout the day every day.

We are reading your ideas, but there isn’t enough time in the day to reply to everyone. Sometimes we may only have a few seconds here and there, so succinct and to the point feedback is where it’s at!

Obnoxious posts and attention seeking will not get you heard louder. If anything, it’s more likely to get you overlooked cause you’re wasting our time. :sunglasses:
