When walking around the map I get a minor stutter every few seconds. I haven’t noticed it in the main menu and when I was playing in the crucible it was also fine.
If I’d have to guess I would think it’s some streaming in of new map data? Though it really shouldn’t have much of an impact as both my gpu and cpu are far away from full load.
I had a worse hardware setup before where I didn’t have this issue (older game version as well).
If there’s anything I can try to resolve this, or help get more info please let me know.
Sorry for correcting again. It does still happen. but far less consistently than the first time and seems the stutters are also a little less bad. Big enough to notice, but not making it unplayable.
Still have no clue what it could be that triggers it.
I see your CPU is a 7900, which is a pair of CCDs. One of the known issues with that layout is that you can see lag spikes if the scheduler moves the thread to the other die.
Can you turn off one of them in BIOS and see if that helps?
There’s a mod that changes the thread preference on the forums. That’s also worth trying as a better fix than going down 6 cores.
Thanks for the suggestion I’ll have a look if restricting thread affinity helps (or find the mod). I had a 3900 before which also has multiple CCDs and never had issues on that one, but who knows.
There is still some hickup sometimes. I think it’s loading something or generating new enemies, because it feels like it only happens when I move to a new area, but it’s a bit inconsistent. Might also be something with accessing the disk (though it should be plenty fast).
Not sure if the core affinity thing helped or not. At least it doesn’t hurt.
