Symbol for Health/Sickness

Hi ! Just wanted to point something out. In the game, the symbol in the top left to indicate the number of villagers that are ill is the Caduceus: the staff of Hermes, with two snakes and a pair of wings. This is actually a symbol of commerce, and started being used as a symbol of healing in the US in the early 1900s by the US Army Medical Corps due to a misunderstanding of the symbol. It’s still used today but mostly by companies trying to sell health related products. The true symbol of healers and doctors is the Rod of Asclepius, which has only one snake and no wings. Most healthcare professionals use this one, as it’s the proper symbol for doctors.

This might be nitpicky, but maybe the in game symbol could be changed to the correct one ? I’m not game dev, so I have no idea how hard that might actually be. But I was recently looking into the topic and now I’m not going to be able to unsee it, is all.

If they want to re-use the Caduceus, the Greek God Hermes was also the god of travelers, which included not only merchants but also actors, thieves and prostitutes, so it could be used as a symbol for the Theatre!

And, in the cause of semi-spurious Authenticy, the term for a ‘healer’ with formal training was Infirmarian, used in the monasteries and convents to denote the person who supervised all kinds of medical practices, from dentistry to surgery to herbal medicine. Hildegard of Bingen, who wrote one of the primary medical texts of the Medieval Era, Causa et Curae, is believed to have also been the infirmarian of her convent.
