It would be handy to be able to give specific orders to specific characters. As it is now, you can only tell them where to go, but not what to do. For instance, my workers kept dropping hundred of wood planks near a building site they had problems reaching, and by the time I noticed, I couldn’t get them to pick it up.
Also, what determines where they live? It would be useful to be able to move individuals to houses near work.
Seeing items dropped on the roadways – especially food, my most difficult resource – is displeasing. Why do the characters drop them in the first place? And I sure would like to be able to tell a villager, “Hey, you! Pick that up!”
I play in Pacifist mode – no fighting, no need to ring the alarm. Is it possibly because I tend to prioritize all over the place? That could be it. I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the reply, and the spark that my overprioritizing (art imitates life) might be the cause.
They drop stuff they carry in this scenarios:
They go seek shelter cause of the weather (blizzard)
They go stock their house
They go for a beer to pub
They go help put out a fire
Basically all work tasks including carrying stuff to storage/production building are on lower priority than everything else so everytime they get some need (stocking their house, going to pub, fighitng etc) they switch to that task and drop whatever else they do.
I see. I think I know why they dropped it then. Would be nice to be able to tell them to pick it up, or that it just spawns back in the global inventory after x amount of time.
