The Bullshit that is Kupacabra - Demonstration

Nice. You tackle Grava yet?

Yep, I only saw him twice when I randomly ran into him but surprisingly he’s one of the easier ones for my build.
I don’t even know his mechanics but I read he uses a lethal Nullification at range and that’s probably why I can do him so easily: I can just facetank him without moving.
Haunted Steel + Ghoulish Hunger keep me alive despite my relatively weak defenses.

I looked up the other new Nemesis too (Alek), took me like 30 mins to find him using Korsar’s excellent guide and he went down in under 10 seconds heh.
It’s probably because I have like 40 overcap on Aether res, but he didn’t do any real damage and went down like a chump.

Killing a nemesis in maybe a bit more than a minute is qualified as “boring” nowadays? I guess thats one way to make the game boring - lower the enemy level so much you can clear everything but supper bosses within the first week.

Unless he is rewarding me with something that the other nemeses who go much faster than him then no he isn’t worth it. Not nearly worth it. As a dungeon boss, I can dig this ability. Multiply and annoy, it works on a dungeon boss. On a nemeses it’s boring shit. And he ain’t exactly avoidable, the bugger spawns almost everywhere and beast faction rep gets farmed to easily. Do I die to him now? But is he boring, yup

I’d make him swap places with Heart of The Wild (provided he/it doesn’t share this kind of boring mechanic)

He drops some pretty interesting stuff though. Is anybody actually stacking cunning/spirit on their characters?

And yesterday I got the avenger of cairn from his chest. Everybody loves the avenger of cairn.

RE: On characters/builds being being OP against EVERYTHING.

No, I personally don’t expect to be able to wtfpwn everything on one class… That would be boring asf.

However, I do expect to be able to tackle close to everything regardless of my build especially when it’s optimized to the woo-haa. Difficulty and tactics should vary, but nevertheless, should still be doable.

And something, I really find puzzling is that why is it that GD is forced into the direction where in certain situations can only be done by specific optimized builds.

Iron Maiden destroys me and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. No amount of tweaking can give me a chance unless I entirely revamp my build into something else. Yes, it is possible for me to completely avoid her in the main game but in the Crucible she is literally the only thing which prevents me from doing 150 challenger - once she appears no amount of life or DA will do me any good, the only way is to completely transform into sword and board with a ton of physical resistance/attack damage converted to health skills.

So this is a thing which already existed before AoM - a certain boss who completely counters certain builds like Iron Maiden in this case counters lighting casters.

If Kubacabra is about to be toned down because people don’t like how he screws over their build why cant Iron Maiden be toned down so she doesn’t screw over mine? I feel a bit in the minority here and I don’t like it.

Gravathul oneshot me through mirror today because other hulking masses pushed him away from me and triggered his red orb

Oh man, I have 2 of those, which really come in handy since I’m hardcore.

And wouldn’t you want that?

My casters definitely would…
I have a couple who are not suit out for efficiency, but at this state (pre-AoM inclusions) can clear at least Challenger Crucible with the help of Defenses, but I just wont try, due to the the fact that IM is almost/or is a guaranteed spawn 130-150. At the very least tone down these kinds Nemesis/Super Bosses resistances to CC, which is presently set to near immunity, despite having the ability to rush you down and spike you to 0.

I understand the need of the devs to present a challenge for different classes. But instead of presenting an Anti-Tank or Anti-Kite boss, they give us a Fuck-a-Tank or Fuck-a-Caster Boss. Which again brings us back to this tank-meta. Caster players acting outside of what is expected of them due to necessity (of being able to survive).

How and where is this Kubacabra ?

You will find out, when you see a big hairy beast just run, run for your life!!

Walk around for a bit in Gloomwald and Ugdenbog and you will find him. It’s the oversized bear that took 20 lines of cocaine.

Ran into him again today, not for the first time at all, in elite no less. He still one shot me for 8.5k+ damage with that breath when I stopped briefly to cast a storm totem.

Sigh

yeah he’s not just a him, he’s a them lol. he can spawn like 30 copies of himself, so you’re fighting a nemesis army. feels a little bit like they never tested him :stuck_out_tongue:

You’ll fight at most four copies and all of them have way less health than other nemesis bosses.

Is he a nemesis to some faction or u need to do something for him to appear ? I presume only on ulti diff right ? He just spawns regulary, nothing else needed to be done ?

You need to be Nemesis with the Beast faction. He spawns on all difficulties.

So just encountered this…insanity…walking madness…i presume that…besides its purpose to annoy u and drive u mad…u can only kill him in party with a tank right ?

If you’re pure melee - you’d better not even start. If you have some dot, burst (i.e. shadow strike) damage - you’re gonna kill him eventually with a lot of kiting. If you’re ranged or caster - he’s quite manageable.
