The RNG gods are not kind and DPS numbers

Man, my Purifier character is fire spec’ed but for the life of me, most of the drops I get are for lightning or cold. Why are they so bad to me lol. Also, we should ignore the DPS number on weapons, right? They seem so whacked to me. I look at the kind of damage they do for fire and if its higher I go with that.
