We get feedback emails all the time, but once in a while there is a gem that demands to be shared with the world. I…I can’t even with this one. As a straight dude that wrote many of the apparently egregious dialogues, I am at a loss for words here. This person is going to have an aneurism when they see the Kurn Chieftain I guess.

This is feedback regarding Grim Dawn.
Specifically, the writing.
I really like the gameplay of your game and I would like if it would stick with me for a while and maybe your future games. To a certain degree and in certain moments I even like the writing and the world, even though obviously it’s not its strongest part here and there, it can be entertaining.
Other parts of the writing put me on the verge of never playing this game again and the only reason why I did not do so already is because of its good fighting gameplay.
But honestly, I think this is going to change unless you change something in the game with following DLC or update, and that is why I wanted to give you my feedback. I hang on a really thin thread and any game I put away from reasons like this was never picked up, neither any product of the same company, or will be. I do check. Many people do the same. I even cancelled whole accounts because I lost interest in all games in them or the storefront. My mistakes. I learned.
Bluntly, please get rid of the men hating lesbians from your writting team. It’s so obvious. I know you are some american company, so I understand the philosophical shithole you come from (and “legal” too), and the amount of retards trying to undermine each other all around. But, this is ruining otherwise perfect game, the same way the “I know and do everything, despite everyone else trained their whole life with weapons, heh, now I am the prime kingess of pirates by random” chick that ruined Pirates of the Carribean, which otherwise would be much better…
I like well written strong female characters, but this is not what is happening. Galadriel was always one my most favourite characters in The Lord of the Rings (if not ‘the’). While she is one of the strongest beings in Middle-Earth and if she wants to purge someone, she doesn’t even need an armor or sword. She’ll probably just flinch. Not even that… yet, she is interesting and kind person…
Why almost every single character I meet in this game is a bad attitude sounding lesbian with short hair complaining about men bringing them down in their perfectly managed autonomy? And barking on men left and right?
It reads like some story that lesbians tell each other before scissoring to get themselves going.
It’s like someone who can’t comprehend a male trying to simulate one.
I keep telling myself: “No, please, such a good gameplay can’t be made by just another retards… Why is gaming so gay and lame… was it always? Look at Heroes 3, the only game that survived in my library because of gameplay too… Somebody specifically had to infest it (we know that happens). Do they all have short hair because the war, lice, needing it… I get that. So many women? After all men dying… I also get that. But why all they all sound like angry spoiled LA flat dwelling women that never been though strife in their life, being it the writing or the voice acting? The female voice acting is just cringe… in almost every game… Maybe just no clue how to write females?”
I can’t keep apologizing this in my head, unless it a vessel for making the word grim indeed. It seems like lots of female characters were added for sake of
someone, specifically. Not for gameplay. Not for the world.
When you meet male characters in this game, they usually give you some quest (even if very short) or are part of the world. Often dying somewhere…
Many women exist to just tell you they are awesome, which makes it harder to not feel the purpose of why they are there. Also, the writing style is very disjoined of the rest. Seems like a side addition.
Usually it goes as following:
• “Men annoy me and put me in danger constantly and it’s their only contribution.”
• “Men annoy me and I am twice the killing machine, check my man’s armor. Aghr. Now you may go.”
This game is not a low magic fantasy by any means, yet you barely use that in case of women, maybe except the coven in the swamp. It’s such a cringe I stopped playing the game and just waiting if you will aswer why is that so ridiculous, or I might just let it rot. I spent quite lots of hours in it already and I am that guy that gets all DLCs, reads everything again on new playthoughs, because if I enjoy something, I enjoy something and I grew up in insane times of gaming when doing the same thing over and over can yield different result, as a secret.
But the more and more I am playing it again, I understood why I put it away for a while. Every single “cool” character is annoying spoiled chick taking man’s place for sake of doing it (not filling it out of need) and not to be a good written character.
It goes so far that when I read random notes about some guys being stupid and getting killed by harpies and so on, I panned around and checked the models… all men of course. Always men the retards. Just only if they had a woman there…
And women? Well, aside their lesbiotic names (lesbians use very specific name range they find… appealing)…
Well:
“Hi, I am Elsa, the Lioness. Men wanting to save me or liking me are a scum and will get me killed and if they will try again, they will die because they are so useless. Check me stand here… and here… No, it’s not about a quest. I know, weird… The other guy at least gave you some XP, stash… text. I don’t even do a shit. I am just telling you and follow you through the story so you know all the time that I am the alpha”.
“Hi, I am some chick from a farm, but in night, when my lame useless husband sleeps, despite the fact that in these times barely anyone does at night, especially when we are attacked non-stop… he sleeps like 12 hours… enough for me to take my armor and go slay like a queen. He so stupid wouldn’t noticed a scratch. I am alpha too. I don’t even need time to sleep myself. No mistakes here. I hope I will finally meet Elsa and we will make smoke signals rubbing ourselves together for all to see, talking after about how my brother is a garbage.”
“Hi, I am the capitaness of Homestead and I like minge and yes… I am a woman… despite sounding like a dick, you are a dick for even being! Scram, I am pretending being a man now and it takes all my focus to anger.”
“Hi, I am a random chick holding a weapon on the wall. Talk to me for some reason. Yes, I probably polish our femcaptain’s armor every night from the inside. Not, I am not saying that for a quest. Just… know that.”
“Hi, I am another random chick on the wall, and I am sergeant, did you notice? SERGEANT! We all are… What a change from behind the corner, right? We only use men as smiths to bent our chestplates with a hammer, it deflects blows back at our enemies.”
This is basically the “female” side of your game.
Men? Spineless, getting killed, only person being good and skilled is basically Ulgrim, because he is a god or what and everyone else is a dick, except the random women telling you otherwise. The ones that don’t give any quest and are only there for someone’s personal exposition.
Please, either learn to write female characters or tell me you are all bunch of dykes that don’t even like women, but for sure want to get into men’s face, because you are scorn by them and unable to cope in any other way.
I am not even straight myself, but this whole nonsense is ruining perfectly good game for me and I won’t take it for long.
This is problem persisting in gaming since it’s inception. As I mentioned, I am not fan that in Heroes 3 the best heroes with bonuses for male hand-to-hand units captains are chicks in armor for some reason. This bullshit goes back a long time. What a boring way to make something interesting.
But times got worse since and my tolerance is practically zero. To the bin with it and let idiots with mental issues scissor themselves… I am not interested in financial support of lesbians. Nobody is. Not even lesbians. Nobody cares about lesbians and nobody should.
The gameplay of your game is just so good, I would rather not loose my faith in it…
Please, make the cringe at least a bit less obvious with some update and give women some character. This mocking of men is so childish and frankly bad for look of women…
And people will get tired of it and after years of the shit they finally are…
Even gays like me, that like men because of what they are… and not liking fags and dykes for the very same reason. I don’t even say to people I am gay because of how much different it is now. It doesn’t even mean you like the same gender anymore.

I considered trying your newer game, but after this beating into my head on and on with annoying man copying lesbians for so very long… I might not, unless my mind changes and that is why I wrote this to you.
It’s like XCOM: Enemy Unknown when all team spawning in your elite commado is just women… Because in your face. Reason? To piss you off. Have a problem with it? All we wanted. No we can offload the rest of shit on you… Change to be like me, because I don’t understand you and else or die.
If I would want get pissed off I would not pay to play games and go outside and talk to people.
