Thoughts about Green items in FG

As we all know greens seem to trump in the end game scene out doing legendaries and such, any talk about rebalancing items so that finding legendaries are actually viable and useful, feels odd running end game with mostly greens doesnt seem right haha.

Outside of Legs and Boots, and occasionally Shoulders, greens are usually far inferior to Legendaries and are in sore need of buffs.

but why should greens get a buff? its a green items shouldnt blues and purples be better?

Ideally, green items (namely MIs) should have the potential to be better due to how rare they are to set up with good affixes together. In practice, this isn’t really the case, despite Legendaries being far more common than a well-rolled green.

But Greens with two rare tier affixes are much more rare than Legendaries.

Name a better Green helm/chest/shoulder/amulet/medal/… than a Purple for a Callidor Tempest build for instace, or for a Physical Forcewave build, or a Summoner, or a…

And couldn’t you come up with a better name for the thread like “Thoughts about Green items in FG”

Why the hell does it matter what I named it? Glad thats what you are worried about.

Fine, name your threads “about a particular computer game” in the future.

If you have the skill to read, I did ask you a question regarding greens. Still waiting for reply.

you need to get off your high horse pal.

It is forum custom to make relevant and descriptive names of threads.

Now I am still waiting for that list for yours with green items…

I dont have to answer you pal. And please show me in the rules where it declares an issue with my title. Good day sir.

Not that there is a rule, but I typically modify thread titles if they are too vague or misleading. So if you want to choose what I change this thread’s title to, I will give you a bit of time to make a suggestion. Otherwise, I will go with “Thoughts about Green items in FG”.

For me, thread titles fall under the “common sense” aspect of the above quote.

I personally love to get shoulders, boots and pants if we talk about greens. I hate picking all other green items, with the exception of weapons, where I don’t mind them. Imo, all boots are either weak or trash, pants are good, but don’t offer too much, therefore I try to never look for legendaries in these spots. Shoulders are actually solid, but I rather pick them only when it’s a set piece, otherwise green. Picking a green chest, hat, rings, amulet and gloves as greens feels like a waste to me. I mean, chests are usually super good, belts, hats and amulets can have bonuses to masteries and rings just in general have cool stats and most of them are superior when you compare them to greens. And gloves, you know, attack speed, casting speed, skill modifiers. There’s also the medal slot, which I actually very often use as a green, but in general I don’t even know what I think about the medal slot.

And I pick green weapons mostly (or even only, lol) for casters.

Endgame builds use mostly greens? I don’t know… Is this a bug report on the colorblind mode? But seriously, greens are neither better not worse than purples or blues. They simply offer I different set of functionality perks plus they’re more flexible when it comes to stats. But, statistically, in most slots of most builds BiS are purples, then blues, and then greens in the last place. And that is because 1) greens don’t set, and 2) they rarely provide skill bonuses to main skills. Usually no combination of crazy affixes can make up for that. So, in conclusion, I disagree with op.

My thoughts on greens is that the magic affix pool should be halved or better and the probability distribution should be rethought. The confusion around greens is that the really good ones which could compete with purples in most slots (outside the functionality greens like Basilisk or Slathasar medals) are practically non-existent in legit game. I know it’s been like that in arpgs since time immemorial. But why? Same with purple MIs (I got beef with Alkamos rings mostly). Just… Give ‘Em To The People!

Second, the statement that greens in general should be buffed is too general to be bear any weight. But certain rare affixes should indeed be buffed. Currently most top affixes support lightning or elemental. Affixes supporting other dmg types are crap in comparison. Pets, afaik, have only 2 affixes that are worthwhile and one is off-hand exclusive (note: pet build threads don’t usually boast ‘no greens’ in the title because it’s pretty obvious: pets=no greens).

Stares intensely

A bunch of greens could do with buffs/redesigns to better support what they are aimed at. Boots, pants and shoulders tend to end up least build critical in vaguely that order. I welcome any green item that can justifiably find its way into a build when there’s already so many cookie cutter LoOk At Me No GrEeNs On ThIs BuIlD.

Affixes supporting other dmg types are crap in comparison.

Don´t think so.

“Bloodletter´s” e. g. is a very good one (even for Non-Bleed-Builds) and the “neutral” ones (Stonehide, Kings) are often searched for.

We all clearly do not know that, most replies disagreed with you, rightfully so. Greens are rarely better than uniques, contrary to what you wote. That makes the rest of your argument pointless, so I won’t go into it.

“Double rare items have the potential to be some of the most powerful in the game.”

This isn’t even in the Monster Infrequent section of the game guide and for the most part is rather untrue.

Bloodsworn Vestments with no affix is better then any Legendary chaos damage caster chest.

Then other greens chests are good if you are trying to convert multiple damage types and need the conversion the chest offers.

And there are many good M.I. Shoulder’s if you don’t need the shoulder spot for your legendary set.

The only spots that are bad for M.I.'s are helmets and amulets. As it is just to hard to compete with + 1 to all skills and +1 to all skills in a class. But you can still find use for them with good affix rolls.

Even Clairvoyant?
