Titan Quest - suggest me a class.

Not very hard tbh.

I always loved playing the elementalist. Squall is just an amazing skill, clearing out the early stuff all on its own, then still staying relevant as a great support spell even when the damage falls off…at which point you have eruption to pick up the slack.

I’ve read your guide on Evoker and it suggests that aura variant is very gear dependant later on, as well as promotes a dream caster variant of Evoker, which is your typical dream mage with Earth being pretty irrelevant. I don’t see much point going pure caster Evoker, because I’m pretty sure Prophet, Haruspex or even Diviner would be better. Are aura/caster builds feasible? What’s your current opinion?

Well, duh.

Conquerer, because bias.

Also, with the Dex scalling Bleed now, War Wind is gonna be awesome with Onslaught.

Is picking Hunting just for -%elemental resistance and extra projectile evasion/movespeed really that obvious? :undecided:

Maybe a Guardian (Defense/Nature) would be good for you. Start with Nature and get 8 points into Call of the Wild so you can get 2 wolves out. Max them up to 16 (with the fanpatch) and if you find any Mastery shrines you can then call up a 3rd wolf (18 or more points in the base skill). Even 2 wolves maxed will pretty much take care of everything for you very quickly, making levelling pretty easy. Another option for the 3rd wolf is for your Guardian to carry a Wanderer’s staff and wear a Wanderer’s necklace which would give you the extra 2 points needed to have a 3rd wolf out all the time. A 3rd wolf gives extra damage making them even more effective. Wanderer’s items are useable from L12, Druid’s which gives +2 to all Nature skills from L25.

Defense gives you good protection with all its shield procs and Nature would also give you Plague for an AoE to weaken foes (great to cast through walls) and even another companion with the Nymph to potshot foes from a distance.

Yes.

Haruspex naturally gains the most diverse/beneficial stats in the game.

Thanks to dream, it has access to:
*constant damage absorption, health regen, and mana regen from a single aura
*% dmg, %OA, %DA, %speed, and % deflection from 3 skills.
*2 of the strongest melee nukes in the game, which are also aoe. (Phantom Strike and Distort Reality)
*Sleep, the only massive AOE CC in the game
*The only DOTs that remain relevant throughout legendary even.

Combine that with hunting and you also get:
*More % DA and Attack Speed
*More % Damage, Movement Speed, and Deflection.
*More health regen.

aaand quite a few DPS steroids (including debuffs from study prey)

It literally does everything.

What other class can boast, without items, having a permanent +50% DA, 18% OA, 36% Attack Speed, 40% deflection, 15% damage negation, +15 health regen (minimum, i don’t think most people max herbal remedy but 1 pt is fine), and some mana regen.

It’s a fan favorite for many reasons…

anyway.

A Prophet can’t use eruption, volcanic orb, or summon the coredweller. Neither can a Diviner or a Harupsex. Nor can they steamroll through the first 2-3 acts using only auras.

Wow, when you put it that way a Haruspex really does just sound objectively better than my elementalist, but I still enjoyed playing the guy enough to accomplish the absolutely insane task of hitting TQ’s level cap so I guess I can’t really complain.

I still have yet to put the effort of doing so, lol. My highest char is around level 67 or 68…

and… wtf no points in spellbreaker?! :open_mouth:

This was ages ago and I don’t really remember, but I think kid me didn’t think it would work on enough enemies to bother with. In retrospect that was probably not the best choice. >_>

Dude… lol

I think I’ll settle on bow hunting for now, and choose the second mastery later. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now…

“You must have been send by the gods! They are going to kill my horse!”

Kinda missed it :stuck_out_tongue:

Why not ranger?

There should be a recipe how to make one there too. Its about refresh + that temporary buff on cd in hunting, call of the hunt or whatever. You can do some fantastic damage with it being permanently active and don’t need any gear for that. You also get free hp and wolves howl buff from nature. I think I had to chose between wolves and plague when doing that. And ended with wolves because plague is one more debuff to cast, while you do not get much cast speed with that class normally.

I found an old post of mine on the TQ forums. This build worked wonderful for my Haruspex. Someone may be able to maximize it and change something for the better. I do know I farmed Hades on Massbosses or whatever mod it was that had around 12 of them. The Haruspex just shredded everything.

“First” impression:

  1. Why do I feel like I’m moving and attacking underwater?
  2. Why does the game force me to farm every corner? I’ve been going straight ahead and strongest enemies are 3-4 levels ahead of me.
  3. The heck is wrong with targeting?
  4. No gold autopickup?
  5. No potions autopickup?
  6. Can’t auto-combine components in my inventory?
  7. Can’t combine components in the stash?

Are you using the Fanpatch? Should fix a lot of the weird movement/attacking bugs.

You really shouldn’t need to farm anything until you’re in the 40s. In TQ, as in GD, enemies will virtually always be a higher level than you.

You tell me.

>tfw potion stacklimit is 5

Literally the sole reason why I use TQDefiler. And now I’m waiting for GDDefiler to bump stacklimit over 100.

Edit: That’s not true. I also use Relics/Charms in Uniques (thank god this wasn’t a problem in GD) and occasionally Remove Broken/Common/Uncommon Items for a greater challenge and greater rewards. It makes the game a lot harder than you’d think!

The game is what, 10 years old? Of course it will feel dated. Lol

I started a Hunter (will be a Haruspex) and I forgot how awful leveling could be in this game. As soon as I had some AoE, I tried X2 and that was easy so I went to X3. I go to normal mobs on boss encounters.

I mauly try X4 and see how that goes.
