Yep, its extremely slow and boring until you get a decent aoe power. The slow base movement speed compared to grim dawn doesn’t help either.
Finally completed Act 1 Normal with my bowman Still no scattershot though, only lvl 16. Time spent: 4 hrs 30 minutes, but I kind of rushed it.
Overall starting over in TQ is pretty bad :undecided: so bad that I made a 20 hr detour into Sacred 2. :o
What is a good caster class that wipes the area clean of mobs on Legendary? I have never tried a caster before in TQ.
Well, Diviner can be very strong. See Poinas’ Pwning with Spirit guide:
http://www.titanquest.net/tq-forum/threads/25924-Guide-Pwning-with-Spirit
But it is very gear dependent. If you don’t want to go for the strength option there are alternative caster head pieces you can use.
Soothsayer too might be good - 2/3 wolves, Nymph and Liche to all fight for you and Plague to weaken foes. See Tyr’s guide for getting the best out of the Nature mastery.

Thanks.
I started reading his guide. I read Ternion Attack was very powerful early on and was changed. Is it still a strong spell?
Yes, even nerfed it’s still strong. Do note that Poinas advises going close in though so all 3 beams hit their target. Obviously with mobs that’s not needed as the beam spread will take them out as they run towards you, but you really don’t want to be missing with 2 out of your 3 beams trying to hit a hero/boss from afar. Add in a Harrowing Staff (L31 on) and it’s still very effective. Early on look for “… of Feasting” staves (L18) for Attack Damage Converted to Health (ADCtH).
If you can’t see Poinas’ final skill build (doesn’t work for me with IE10 for some reason) here’s Irma2’s caster Diviner TitanCalc.
Thanks. It gives me something else to try out.
Completed Act 2 Normal in 2 hrs
Looks like I got it rolling for me. Thank you guys!
Trying to find a soul shiver pattern has been a long process. I have been farming the act 2 Telkine with no luck. I think I have found every pattern so far but that one.
I am running on X3. I tried mass bosses but the amount of clutter was awful and I could not see everything.
Oh yes… Spellbinder and Bone Charmer my personal all time favorites. Good even without any great gear, at least normal+epic, and a lot of additional potential with it.
Just a tad sad that spirit did not buff pierce dmg that greatly.
Who cares about pierce when you rip apart bosses with %health damage?!
Yea, unless you go with bows, pretty sure the strength of bonecharmer lies in the spear takedown+necrosis combo. Of course, having a %hp weapon helps too…
Hm. Was this game always that easy? I remember struggling to kill Typhon with my wolfpack Ritualist back then, fire/lightning maxed out, farmed gear, socketed relics, DPS around 100, couldn’t kill him. Someone suggested to go more heavily into dream, upgraded my DPS to 200 and after a few more deaths had a breakthrough. And even when replaying with more powerful builds it didn’t felt forgiving.
Now? Lvl 30, bow build, resists are laughably low, almost no relics, no artifact, some random green bow I’ve bought from shop, DPS 160. Killed typhon, 0 deaths, ezpz. WTF? :undecided:
Sometimes you get better at games over time.
This and also, TQ is easy, at least until act 4/harder difficulties.
The game never really presents any challenge, and when it does, it shoves it in your face with no warning. This is why most of us who played it so much used difficulty mods…
Can anyone suggest a good pet build?
As I was playing Grim Dawn I realized I never beat Titan Quest and felt like I need to rectify that. I think it was when my pets (wolves) started becoming less and less effective in normal that I started to lose interest. With the death of titanquest.net and the master build thread I’m hoping someone can post a good pet build.
I enjoyed the Skelliemancer in D2, Engineer in Torchlight 2, Templar summoner in PoE, etc… buffing minions and having them do the fighting is my favorite thing to do in ARPGs. Right now in Grim Dawn the first class I created was of course the lazy Conjurer build.
Seems like nature for the first mastery and easy start with wolves but I’m drawing a blank at the second mastery to choose.
Well, bear in mind that in Acts 3 and 4 Normal pets suffer and will die quickly no matter what before becoming stronger again in Epic. So you won’t find the equivalent of the Lazy Pokemon is possible. You’re going to have to get involved and so you’ll need plenty of dexterity to keep your DA as high as possible.
Tyr wrote an excellent guide on the Nature mastery and he suggests a Summoner (Nature/Earth)
"Sample multiclass - The Summoner (Nature/Earth)
The Summoner, as a pet class, is unique in that it can do a massive amounts of AoE damage in a relatively short amount of time. At the heart of the class are three critical synergies:
-
Earth Enchantment line + Ring of Fire line + Pets + Plague
Earth Enchantment offers tremendous bonuses to elemental and physical damage, while Ring of Fire decreases enemy armor. Plague further increases all damage done on top of everything. This synergy allows the Summoner’s pets to do significantly more damage than your average Wanderer’s. It also means that a staff attack from this guy (assuming he’s using a fire staff) can potentially do more damage than some nukes.
Note: to keep your pets within the range of Earth Enchantment simply set their AI to normal -
Nukes + Plague + Refresh
Even as Plague basically causes all of Earth’s nukes to hit for 50% more damage, Refresh allows you to spam nukes like Eruption without relying on -recharge gear. -
Call of the Wild + Earth Enchantment + Heat Shield + Plague + Ring of Fire
All the+armor, +resist and +damage resist bonuses from these skills stack, as shown here. That’s a naked Summoner more or less ignoring normal attacks from an act 4 creature. What this basically means is that with these skills, combined with proper gear, a Summoner is unlikely to die from sheer physical damage. Stone Form also helps.
The main problem with building a summoner is that you have some many good skills to choose from, and almost all of them seem to work well with each other in paper. When planning your build, make sure they’re fully functional by level 33. This is the level most characters are in before the normal Typhon fight."
You’ll need to look for Beastcaller, Spiritcaller, Summoner, Invoker and Ritualist affixes - staff and all jewellery to make a complete “pet set” with suffixes being of Servitude, of Convocation, of Subjugation, of Enslavement. Also remember that if you can max out wolves and then add a couple of +to all Nature/+to all skills items to push the total to 18 or more you can summon a third wolf which gives more damage and believe me really makes a difference (try playing TQ Naked, max wolves and then find a mastery shrine - WOW!).
Plague is also a great skill, spreading through mobs and weakening them for you/pets to take down more easily. It can also be cast through walls and above/below you for a certain distance (useful at Marduk’s Temple for example). It doesn’t affect undead that much, but it does slow them down.
A Ritualist (Nature/Dream) could also be good fun if perhaps risky. As well as having Nightmare with Hypnotic Gaze and Mastermind to boost pet health/energy you could try using Trance of Empathy which reflects damage (60% when maxed) and has a % Attack Damage Converted to Health as well. This trance affects pets too so you can image what chaos it may cause.
Use the TitanCalc to work out your build - www.titancalc.com and away you go. Note that for a straight run through the game with no farming you’ll probably finish around L60-62 so keep that in mind - and don’t forget to apply the bonus points (top right of screen) to get your correct level. Do it after you’ve put all the points in the skills you want, otherwise it doesn’t show correctly.
Elementalist is a great class… Volcanic Orb, Eruption, Squall and LightningBolt (or thunderball) are very fun together, plus Iceshard (maxed) as a backup … Core helps a lot attracting enemies when set to aggressive and Wisp’s +100% elemental is awesome. The only downside, you will be a energy-potion addicted, specially when you hold the button to fire iceshard until everyone is dead …
I’ve tried a number of different combination, but so far my quickest leveling class has been the assassin. Start with rogue and max out envenom weapon while also putting a few points into nightshade and calculated strike. When you attain mastery level 10 you can pop 3 or so skill points into poison gas bomb for a bit of AOE damage. After that start to level up warfare and go immediately for the dual wield line. Stack physical resist gear to make your life easier as you level.
Recently got the anniversary edition and forgot how much fun this game is. Back in the day had a killer Conqeuror (made it to level 71)might make him again if I get all the pieces again(never found aionis shield). Started up playing a bow brigand nearing end of act two epic now. Fun but screwed up my atteibute points won’t balance out till level 67 (50 now). Started an Evoker and seems fun thus far only level 8 though.
