Hmm!

Looks like you’re running steam. Is GD installed somewhere other than the C: drive? If that’s the case, would you mind sending me a copy of a file from your machine?

I’m looking for:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\libraryfolders.vdf

This is the file the editor is reading to figure out where you’ve configured your steam libraries folders, so it can figure out where GD is installed. The format of this file seem to have changed recently. While it doesn’t crash the editor or anything, it does stop it from locating GD properly.

Anyway, I thought I fixed it with this latest build, but apparently, it wasn’t quite enough. It’d be a great help to be able to see how/why the editor is failing.

I’m not sure if the file can be posted on the forums directly. If not, please use dropbox or whatever file-sharing service you’re familiar with.

Thanks!

Well i feel foolish. I’m not use to looking up where everything is located, file wise, on my computer. and the above gamedir is fine. had to connect it to my G:. I’m such a fool! lol Thanks for always helping us all out on here. I always check back from time to time, and especially if I’m having issues.

Alrighty! No worries, bud. Glad you fixed the issue. =)

If anything still isn’t working, do let me know!

Hi, the gd-edit.exe from gd-edit.exe, starts the command prompt and then after a few seconds it closed, what I did wrong?

Hi there!

Do you have the 64 bit version of Java installed? That’s the most likely problem.

yes, its working fine now, thanks

for me still it doesn’t work,it couldnt find my gamedir and i know for sure my gamedir is “D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn” i think my editor’s version is out of date if so where can i download the newest one from?

Hi there!

To get the latest version of the editor, you can run the command “update” from within the editor. It’ll download the new version and relaunch. You can also manually grab a new copy using the link in the first post. The link will always take you to the latest build of the editor.

Hope that helps!

even after updating it doesn’t work,

maybe this image would help you

Can you run just “gamedir” and post what the outputs are?

Also, please send me this file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\libraryfolders.vdf

I thought I updated the editor to deal with the changes in that file. But maybe the format is slightly different sometimes?

Thanks!

I submit my contribution to this kick ass project. A front End.

enjoy

Could you make a screenshot please for those that don’t have GDEdit set up?

The program I wrote includes the editor. My program is a vb.net program that just uses the sendkeys code to pass commands to the editor.

If you have a custom config file for gd edit just put the front end in that same folder.

I will work on a demo video when I have time.

Very cool! I’ll be sure to check it out later today.

It’s very slimmed down versus what your program can do. It’s just meant to be a quick easy reference or tool for those that are not comfortable with command line at all. All credit still goes to you!!!

I’m having issues again. Trying to load the editor has it pop up for a second then it just vanishes.
I’m lost on how to fix it. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Wow, I haven’t looked at this program in a long time now. Are you sure you’re running 64-bit version of Java?

Yep that did it. I couldn’t remember why I hadn’t gotten it fixed before but thanks.
