Why does not anyone just read through the documentation?!
(Folder doc where you installed GD Stash!)
There you can read:
If you use Steam Cloud saving, do not edit any files while running Grim Dawn and wait a few seconds between closing GD and editing the files in GD Stash.
Based on feedback I recevied, this seems to avoid most of the potential pitfalls of cloud saving (I do not use cloud saves).
You can always store items in GD Stash while playing Grim Dawn with cloud save enabled, but do not change the Grim Dawn files (stash or char) while playing. Also see the FAQ for more details.
Thx for the quick answer !
I actually checked if DG stash worked with cloud save, Havanāt what documentation you quoted but i looked on the web because i remembered 2 years ago cloud saves has to be unchecked.
I will try to get back my char, thx for the usefull link.
just to be clear here, the tool did none of this, it always saves the files correctly and anything past that point is outside of its control. You using cloud save is the problem here. That being said all of this can be fixed
I would like to know how can I get back my char and my stash before uninstalling GD stash (or how make this tool work properly), But mostly I want my char back and my items.
the tool always makes backups of the files it changes. For the stash it is transfer.t## (or h##) or the char player.g## where ## is a number. 00 is the most recent backup 01 the one before that and so forth.
So rename them back to their original names to get your files back. If the error already is in 00, try 01 and so forth.
Doing this with local saves is probably easiest as there is no second set of data (the cloud) that can interfere with this
I never touched the character editor part, I just wanted beter way to manage my items.
then either the char problem is completely unrelated to the tool or you removed items from the char inventory in it, which also changes the save file.
The answer depends on whether you find any player.g## files, if none exist this had nothing to do with the tool.
I wanted to use cloud save because last time i played GD i was using your gd stash tool with cloud saving removed and at some point i had to reinstall windows and i lost everyhting. I get it the mistake was on my behalf, using cloud saves.
See the FAQ, you can use cloud save with the tool, but need to be more careful than with local saves (otherwise I would not allow cloud saves in the tool at all). You can store items while being in game, but should not change any files at that point. Only make changes to the files in GD Stash when GD is not running.
Can someone help me i cant seem to import my database. I already reinstalled the game, redonwloaded GD Stash etc but i get this every time https://imgur.com/a/Gertk
The error message indicates you might not have a 64-bit version of Java installed or that you need to run the .bat file located within the GDStash install dir.
If you use the .bat file be sure to edit it to point to your 64-bit Java.
I need help with the Char Editor feature. I believe to have added the right Dir locations correctly on the Configuration tab, afterwards I did save and import the Database without any error messages (nothing obvious anyways ). My problem is when Iām at the Char Editor tab, after I select the desired Char to be stat edited, after I alter whatever stats I wish to change from that Char, after I am done, click save and go back to the game to check if anything changed it didnāt and it doesnāt as I may have reconfigured the numbers over on the Editor.
I am currently using the latest GD Stash version 1.1.8b, I also did try to fix the Char Editor by using grim dawnās versions 1.0.1.1 & expansion version 1.0.2.1 to no change on the issue. Also note that when switching from one version to another I did alter install directories as both versions are installed on different locations, after doing so I also always re-save and re-import on the Editors Config Tab.
are you using cloud save ? If so, only edit the char while GD is not running, this should fix it.
If you use local saves this always works unless you are playing that char in GD at the time.
it points to the 32bit version as the 64bit never has this issue, it always works by just double-clicking the jar file, so there is no need to increase the heap space for it
I am using a local save, I also did try both ways of updating the Stats,
one by having the game closed and running it after editing and saving, and
editing and saving it while the game is running and when I am logged in to the
char and also when Iām waiting on the menu before login in to a Char.
Problem still persisting.
And just as additional info,
I am using the latest version of java 8 - 151.
I tried the same things on Win 8.1 & Win 10 (x64 versions)
