It worked, thanks @mamba!
I’ll double check those settings.
At least I can now reset and respec it back to Shaman to continue my epic quests! Just got to replace that gear but some of it actually pretty good for the Shaman too.

Hola. Sorry for the delay, life has been hectic.
At this point I do not think it is a GD Stash issue. I’ve done a clean re-install of both Windows 10 and Grim Dawn, created a completely new character, did not restore any of my old save data, and I still get the error. I am raising as a bug to Crate.
Hey: I have a Question:
Can I make a Copy from my Hero? I have a full equiped level 100 hero with all reputation etc maxed.
Now I want to try different gear setups and skill setups but dont want to use my orginal hero and gear for this kind of stuff.
So I want to make a Copy from the Hero A. Hero A stays the same and with Hero B (the copy) I can try different gear and skill setups.
I tryed this: Copy the save folder. Open GD STash and rename the hero. but i can not save it afterwards in gdstash. It says: A charackter already exist, select it instead"
If it says that, you already have a char with that name, so you cannot rename one to that name. Chose a different name.
Thx. I found my problem.
my Way was this:
copy save game folder. Hero A
Rename the copy folder to the new hero name. Hero B. That is now the name of the folder
open gd stash. Found Hero A twice. Rename the second Hero A into “hero B” and save. This will not work.
Now: Copy Save game folder Hero A. Name it: “123xyz”
open gd stash. Found “hero A” twice. Rename the new one into “hero B” and save.
Now the Savegame Folder “123xyz” is automatic renamed into “hero B”.
Easy
Is it possible to override config directory path (it’s where gdstash.ini and Derby DB are located)? Env variable, Java system prop or maybe GD Stash can keep its database in the same folder where JAR file is located? I use Linux and having GD stash DB in home folder isn’t convenient. Most Linux apps use XDG spec and store their data inside $HOME/.config
. I do realize that both GD and GD Stash don’t have official Linux support, but maybe there is an option…
According to the spec the config and the data would be in different dirs, with the data being in $HOME/.local/share
GD Stash uses the Java system property user.home to find the dir, not sure if you can influence that (or how)
For Windows this logic makes sense and is the recommended way, so I am not really going to violate that by putting the data in the install dir like you suggest (which as far as I understand it is wrong for Linux as well…)
Your best bet is affecting the user.home property
Thanks, it works. I enp up with: java -Duser.home=/home/username/.config -jar GDStash.jar
So trying to use this with Reign of Terror mod. Had it working at one point, but now getting a whopper of an error message when I try to save my stash. It can see the characters and see the stash but when I try to import an item, nada and same with import/save. Can paste the full code if needed, but haven’t run into this before.
Welcome to the forum.
Have you set GDStash to the mod in the Configuration section, saved the settings and then re-imported the database?
Also have you got the latest version of the Stash?
Latest version, yup and in the correct folder. Like I said it sees all the mod items and the characters. Trying again to double check I didn’t miss a step.
So yes to all of the above and still getting the error. Vexing since I had it working before.
Odd thing is its only saving any changes made to the character if I move the file. But it won’t update the changes to the stash regardless.
Yeah I’m at a loss. I can either mod my characters from one folder, or I have to change directories to another try to get the stash to stick and that ends up not importing everything. Not sure what’s wrong with this but cannot do both.
You should point at the save dir, not save\main, save\user or anything like that.
Where do you need to move your char to ?
What message do you get for the stash ?
Assuming GD and the tool agree on what your save dir is, you should not have to move anything…
Hi I have been using DBstash for a long time. lately when I came back playing Grim Dawn again, i downloaded the latest version which is v152c, I notice that some of the new gears i m getting were not in the DB stash database.
Will we get an update soon?
You need to import the GD data on the Config page, there is no need for a new version of the tool.
Thank you so much for speedy reply, also nice and easy explanation. The problem is fixed with one button 10/10
无法找到新版本物品,在软件配置最下面的“导入数据” 导入后也不存在新物品,请问是怎么回事?
你更新到GDStash的最新版本了吗? 下载并安装,检查配置是否正确,然后再导入数据库。
Did you update to the latest version of GDStash? Download and install it, check the configuration is correct and then import the database again.
No idea what item you are referring to, but if you imported the GD data, the item and its definition are up to date.
You will only see the base values however, not the exact values of the item, as those are determined in a way that is unknown to us
Hello, for some reason, when i open GD Stash, it automatically minimize and don’t show up, kind odd since i was using it normally and that happened. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks in advance and for all your hardwork
Try deleting C:\Users\username\GDStash\GDStash.ini (or edit it)
That specifies the window size, so maybe there is some error in it
