[Tool] Grim Dawn Item Assistant

Repeat the steps and then email me your log file.
[email protected] (don’t post it here)

Just as I was preparing my email to you, It seems that the last repeat worked. It’s now working for me again…
Thanks anyway!

Issue has been identified and resolved.
A fix will be included in the next update.

Experimental build patch notes:

  • IA will now show more than two skill modifiers per item (for items that have it)
  • Fixed a bug with filtering by slot and damage/defense type causing some greens and yellows to not be displayed

I just installed IA for the first time. Seemed to be going well, no problems while I was adding items in large blocks. A bit later I added 1 single item (epic gloves that just dropped) to my IA stash tab & they didn’t appear when I moved & checked. I went back to the stash & it was still there, (in tab 5). So I closed the stash again, moved, checked IA, still not there. Went back to stash & they are gone, but haven’t appeared in IA. I’ve added run as administrator to IA, as per the advice.
Also, I can’t see anywhere on the UI that shows Total Stored Items. Am I missing something?
Thx.

EDIT: Just to test, I transferred back the last Epic Mythical Gloves I moved & it is the exact same one that went missing but I.A had changed the stats to something else. So it appears in IA as the same named gloves, but the stats & bonus mastery skill are completely different. Is this a known issue?

IA should not be capable of changing the stats at all.
AI doesn’t even know what the stats truly are, it just knows how to recreate the item.

Hi. I can reproduce it.
In my GD stash Mythical Voidsteel Gauntlets have a +2 to Flames of Ignaffar bonus.
When I move them to IA, that vanishes & the other stat ranges, stats, order, & wording is also changed.
Before & after pics showing IA & my GD stash:

The missing stat is just a visual issue.
It has been fixed in the latest experimental release, but not yet pushed to stable.

As for order and wording, IA uses it’s own.
GD Stash and IA are separate tools with their own logic.

Yeah I knew IA didn’t actually change anything b/c it was back to normal when I moved it back.
As for the stat changes (as they appear in IA), is that something normal that happens too?
I honestly don’t mind either way, it’s a great tool even if it’s just to see the name & lvl of gear (and obvious advantage of infinite space!)
Thanks for making it & making my life easier

Hi. I’ve played GD for a bit now and finally got Item Assistant (GDIA). Better still I got it working! … I think. Anyway, I have questions which I have not found answers for and hope someone can help.

I am in GDIA on the [Items] tab. I’ve selected in this case Component from the drop-down. Is there a way I can select a group of different items to transfer back to the game Transfer-Stash? If I have to transfer each listed item individually it will be a major PITA.

Regards selecting Components. When I select the Component entry from the drop-down I get the list of individual Components which I would use to craft new items. That is exactly what I want. However, I also get a complete list of every last item in my inventory which has a component attached to it. Which is almost everything I have. Which makes selecting Component almost useless to me. Am I doing something wrong? Can I just get a list of the free Components?

Thank you for your help with my question!

I learned that, apparently by default, the GDIA setting “Transfer to any mod” is automatically checked. Which results in GDIA interrupting a transfer, even when there is only the “vanilla” GD, by asking for mod and confirmation for each transfer. Three clicks to transfer an item. Ouch!

I unchecked “Transfer to any mod” and viola, er, voila!, a single click will transfer an item. It would be sweet to be able to select multiple items to transfer; however, in the simple vanilla stash example, transfer is now far quicker and the need isn’t as great. Whew!

On the other hand, I still have trouble with the Component search.

Wonderful aid to playing Grim Dawn. Thank you!

That’s the way it currently works.
If you have a suggestion on improvements I’m all ears.

How would you like it to function?

Issue has been fixed and will be included in the next update.
Has been reported previously but somehow got forgotten.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to import items into my characters stash that I create or search in the DB. Everything I have tried hasnt worked. And it keeps resetting any character I have to a level 1 and no items are in the stash or inventory. Ive read all the documentation and cannot figure it out.

Are you sure you’re using item assistant?
Not perhaps GD Stash or similar?

IA doesn’t touch character nor let you create items.

My antivirus quarantined both Grim Dawn and Item Assistant. I’ve since removed the antivirus and Item Assistant. I’ve now reinstalled IA and updated it to hopefully the newest version.

I’m a bit confused on how to restore all of my items now. I have a backup folder that IA created. Inside of it there are several zip files with the day of the week and lots of transfer files. Your help menu says to unzip the userdata.db file from my backup, but i cannot find that file inside the zip files or anywhere else in the backup folder.

Could you let me know where I would find that file and where it needs to be copied into? The help says the data folder. Is that the AppData/Local/Evilsoft IAGD/Data folder?

Thank you!

That’s the folder, yep.
Just copy userdata.db into that.

If you do not have a userdata db (you might have an export.ias), then you just open IA and go to settings and “import”. IA will load the export file and voila.

I do have the export.ias. It was located inside of the most recent ZIP folder. I decompressed the zip folder to my desktop and then pointed the import at the export.ias file. It did some processing for a few minutes but nothing showed up. I then reloaded the database on the vanilla/Expansion DB. I still don’t have any items appearing.

Should I have extracted the “Friday.zip” folder somewhere else?

Were there any error messages at the end?
Did the log contain any errors?

I did the two steps again. I got the message “Items Imported” almost immediately. Reloading the database takes a bit longer, but I don’t get any error messages.

There are no error messages in the log, just DEBUG and INFO messages.

I also noticed I have a userdata.db file in my appdata…IAGD\data folder. Its about 200MB big.

  1. Import
  2. Email me the log

Not much more i can do on guesswork.
