UI/UX Ideas (mostly)

I’m a dev and architect specializing in UI/UX, a hat I can’t seem to take off even when playing games. This game is amazing, and already better than many “fully-finished” games. These are just some things I’ve thought of in my first week of playing.

Keep up the good work!

Allow scroll wheel to control the amounts sliders when hovered, in single increments (click to move slider is not precise, this makes precision easy without typing in number)

Shift should speed camera speed when using WASD look (edge scroll also)

When building, show alternate color (orange?) if spot is not level. Figure in extra labor to level lot into build.

Cursor hover state when over buildings/other interactables (this might exist but the outline on the cursor seems inconsistent)

Hover info window - toggle on and off. Make hover appear instant.

Save where windows were moved to and open future windows of the same type in that same spot. Have a global option to “reset all window positions”

CTRL+Click on a wall should select all connected wall, or maybe double-click

Rat catchers should produce meat

When selecting a building, tab should cycle through to other buildings of the same type (the ones outlined in white)

Traders need a “sell as many as I can” and a “buy as many as I can” option, instead of only trying to fine-tune the slider to match gold availability

Alert system: make every alert just the big circle pic, then expand on click. Have dismiss and “go-to” buttons directly on the circle.

Show green circle, or red circle, for the area of effect for desirability of the selected building after it is built

Some aesthetic updates based on TC level. The temporary home is the big one for me, it looks really run down even though my village has advanced enough that everything else looks rather beautiful. Alternatively, a tier-2 temporary home that maybe gives villagers that visit it a 10% production bonus.

First person mode - I can get so close to this already, the ability to walk around my village would be amazing. It would be cool to be able to first-person fight as well, but I know that’s basically a second game entirely.

I like the idea of shift speeding up camera movement speed.

Also, having terrain levelling factored into building construction time when necessary is a great idea. It should only level the terrain directly under the building, and perhaps have a limit on how steep the terrain can be or how many squares can be levelled without using the levelling tool first.

I have a friend who has tried rat meat. He said it was disgusting, and very oily. Maybe they could supply a small amount of meat only when the town is in danger of starvation?

I don’t think that’s right, but everything else I liked

Mostly :point_up_2:t3: !!!.. several good ideas.

I thought it was funny but accurate enough. Meat is meat when you’re starving. Could lead to interesting plague conditions too. I like all of these ideas.

I really wanna see how long an item production have left (time, % or a bar being filled). Having a hard time figuring out how much stuff I can produce per building per year.

It just says producing X and I have no idea much is left before the thing is done.
