Upcoming ARPGS

…Xanadu Next? Anyone played this? Looks like it has an oldskool charm and isometric gameplay, but inventory and loot…?

it’s pretty much done, just waiting on 2 more acts, 3 right now.

End game 1000+ “levels” Magnetic Orb Templar gameplay, a bit like D3 greater rifts, super crazy

You will be using one attack skill: Magnetic Orb. You will be combining it will the mobility skill: Slice. Build will have 90% cooldown reduction, plus half base cooldown due to the Ascension ultimate.

Warhammer 40k Inquisitor Martyr.

Its not even in alpha yet.

After waiting for years for Lineage Eternal and Lost Ark… I think its going to beat them both to the market.

God I completely forgot about those two… they aren’t coming out, I feel like they’ve been indefinitely cancelled, production for as long as GD but … with a full dev team.

The sad thing about online games for me is that even if I have an amazing isp, I live in fucking Brazil

So many hops until I get to x server my ping is over 9000!

I just saw this one : http://store.steampowered.com/app/404590/ that seems to be coming soon (early 2017 apparently). I don’t know anything about it but i’ll probably buy it anyway. Vikings and their mythologie ! I can’t pass that.

(I’m also waiting for Wolcen to come out. But it will take a lot more time it seems)

And it’s coming to Linux! That will certainly get my attention, I hope it’s good…

Thank goodness Grim Dawn works fairly well through Wine…

Been waiting to play that one for a few months too. Viking myths are cool.

Hell who am I kidding, I love all mythology based things… Take TQ for instance, heh.

Vikings - Wolves of Midgard looks fun : good looking engine, dodge rolling.
But a few weeks ago it seemed to lack endgame content : No random dungeon, and a crafting system instead of infinite loot combinaison.

Wait : no random random loot in a hack slash ?!That’s why I didn’ followed this game…

But just a few days ago, on january 12, one of the devs said (yes he used capital letters !):

Let me shed some light here as it seems there is a lot of misunderstanding on this topic (I am the developer of Vikings).

  1. We originally wanted to have much less loot and make it really different and give player opportunity to craft the items themselves. But we found out during the testing that this concept would require something different so we decided to return to more typical formulae of more item drops.
  2. After further testing we were still not happy with the loot system, so we added random and procedural properties for the items.

Now the system works really well I believe:
WE HAVE RANDOM LOOT
WE HAVE RANDOM ITEM PROPERTIES
WE DON’T DROP ZILLIONS OF ITEMS FROM EACH ENEMY BUT WE DROP REASONABLE AMOUNTS TO MAKE THE ITEMS MORE VALUABLE AND NOT BOTHER SO MUCH WITH THRASH
WE STILL RETAINED RESOURCES SYSTEM, CRAFTING SYSTEM AND RUNESMITHING SYSTEM ON TOP OF THE REGULAR LOOT

I hope this clarifies it
This changes everything for me.But isn’t it a little too late to introduce and balance random enchantment on loot just two month before the release date ?

This kind of information is crucial for players, why didn’t they posted something official to tell the players : We introduce random affix on loot = endgame content, huge replayability.
That’s one of the most important feature in any hack and slash and the reason players are farming !
Also what are those properties : only borring buff to stats or more interesting features : procs skill on hit, on low health, modify skills, more projecile, Aoe increased radius…etc
Really I don’t understand why they didn’t take the time to explain what will be their loot system.

Wolves of Midgard looks interesting, and seems to put a decent emphasis on the “action” part of ARPG, too.

No amount of loot combinations is going to keep me playing if the actions performed while farming/grinding aren’t interesting, or, even if they are interesting, it’s too much of a chore to get anywhere.

WH40K Inquisitor looked awful and horribly slow paced in the last gameplay video I watched.

I’m really looking forward to playing Lost Ark though.

Well, I like crafting so I would have been ok with it if it was crafting only. Random loot missing is kind of weird though so I’m not sure how well I would have liked it, buuuut it’s here now so. shrug We will see.

As for endgame, well… I read something about a few other modes that the game will offer, NG+,a crucible type mode (hordes) and they mentioned something about repeatable raids. Can’t say how well they will serve that purpose, but there is something there that we don’t really know about.

The devs are pretty quiet for the most part, I don’t even see an official website for the game. The steam page links to their company home page and there is no info for the game there. Kind of annoying.

I agree, it does look very slow paced, could very well be another flop like Deathwing. Seems there aren’t any good warhammer games afterall, at least not recently.

So yeah might probably give WH40K Inquisitor a miss.

I used to play D3…and then, well D3. That’s all the explanation you need, really. Currently I play Path of Exile, and Grim Dawn…But I’ve had my eye on a couple of upcomers that seem interesting.

Both seem interesting. Not sure they’ll do very well, but as far as I’m concerned, they’re at least worth keeping an eye on. I check in once a month or so on them.

One is turn based, the other one is a MMORPG (looks super cool though)

:frowning:

Reading the comment from the dev of Vikings it seems exactly the same as The Division when that came out. Having to grind for resources for hours just to spend another couple of hours pressing one button hoping for a good crafted item is what helped kill The Division when it was first released.

You can use hotspot shield fir that.

True, but IMO, that doesn’t stop either from being an ARPG. IMO, it’s the loot/mechanics and/or the monster slaying that people play ARPGs for. Besides, the A only stands for “Action”…Technically every game has that.

I am not sure anything turn based can be an ARPG…

I should have posted the titles as “upcoming isometric arpgs”

but hey it’s fine, I kinda liked that MMO, too bad MMO’s require so much commitment…
