[v1.0.2.1] Electrocute Warder(?) - A Shockingly Versatile Build

One really nice thing about the build is that it can get around reflect well. Totems and Wind Devil damage seems to be have reduced reflect damage. When I was running though Steps of Torment if I hit a reflect Skeleton with Savagery I took heaps of damage yet my Totems and WD could kill them without taking a scratch.

For a DoT build like this its actually really important.

Thanks for build, already kill Lokarr on Hardcore with this build

What do you think about throwing one skill point into Primal Strike and one into Thunderous Strike, in order to take advantage of the +100% skill cd reduction to clear all your cooldowns? Then you wouldn’t have to wait so long to get your max Storm Totems up or move your Wendigo Totem.

Transmuters only affect the skills they are linked to. Otherwise I would pair Shaman with Arcanist and run around with perma mirror.

By all means if you want to use them. But they won’t make that much of a difference. Storm Shards has very limited range and no electrocute dmg. I am using it too but only throw it down when fighting heroes and facetanking them.

Storm surge is meh. It is an alright skill but not worth the extra click imo. We already have enough AoE as is and its single target dmg is not impressive in anyway compared to our Savagery or totems.

Ah thanks, knew there had to be a catch somewhere, it seemed too easy. Now I can safely put the extra points into my comfort zone: Wendigo Totem.

So I fiddled with the gear a bit on grimtools to see if I could align it a little closer to my personal tastes, and this is what I came up with:

http://www.grimtools.com/calc/p25W9wKZ

Health is up, energy is up, OA is down but still over 3k, DA is up, resistances are balanced a bit better with increased maximums across the board and some of the lower resists are raised a bit, though I lost a few points on stun somewhere.

The amulet I changed to Conduit of Wild Whispers to get the +3% max all resists, using the hidden affixes to add +40% aether resist and “lives for 4 seconds to storm totem”. Probably a b**** to get that roll on the item though. The health and especially energy increases appealed to me a lot and I liked +2 to Pact and +1 to all shaman better than +1 to everyfrickinthing. The only real down side is the loss of almost 100 OA, but at 3k+ remaining that was acceptable.

Other than that it was just a few comps and augments to balance out the resists and tighten up a few other things. The only change to skills was to put the 3 extra points into Heart of the Wild for health. I might go back to Potent Malmouth’s Will on the Stormreaver instead of Potent Raincaller Powder, but that would dip OA below 3k in exchange for 550 health and an extra +60% electrocute damage.

Is the Haunted Steel on the weapon meant as a healing item? I might go with Purified Salt for the clicky aether buff to handle the level 90 aetherial vanguard hero/boss debuff I’ve been seeing lately.

I wonder if you guys sure about upheaval. I tried overmaxing it once, went for a standard farming run I did dozens of times and died twice on mob packs. I was really surprised, removed the thing and everything was back to normal. I repeated the experiment once again the other day and felt the same survivability drop.
My guess is it messes up the feral hunger proc, effectively swapping every feral hunger crig with upheaval. And feral hunger is a crucial tool for my survival against tough packs.

I wonder about this too. Can anyone confirm?

I am not sure about the Brute Force line in Shaman, how does it exactly work? Does Feral Hunger heal only on the percentage of its own dmg, what happen if it crit with Upheaval also active? Combined both dmg and convert to health? Or ignore Feral Hunger completely? Does it take into account the base auto attack we are using like Savagery?

Thanks for this really fun build! I’ve been trying to follow the devotions in it but I just can’t figure out how to unlock Ultos. :furious:

I reproduced my build on grimtools and according to it, I should have 5 purple, 7 red, 11 green and 12 blue affinities, but in game I have 5, 5, 8 and 12. I currently have 50/55 unlocked and 4 points that I haven’t put anywhere yet because I’ve opened everything except Ultos and can’t progress towards it.

Unfortunately, I can’t post the grimtools link because this is my first post. :o

Can someone suggest the correct order for the constellations please, I’d really appreciate it, thanks!

Sailor’s Guide
Hawk
Quill
Kraken
Rwowan’s Crown
Widow/Chariot/Ghoul - whichever one you need more first

then Ultos should be unlocked. Add points in crossroad as necessary.

Does -% elemental resist apply to dot damage? Or only -% lightning?

-resist apply to dot dmg as well.

also dont know of any upheaval issue, i just tested a 2h physical warder focused on upheaval, it didn’t have any negative effect on survival. it does not replace ur feral hunger proc, its the opposite - feral hunger procs cannot proc upheaval even if it crits, so reducing the # of ur total upheavals.

it does crit hard just like feral hunger so if u happen to splash onto a reflect mob that could be trouble otherwise i dont know.

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot!

Just realized that tempest isn’t in there.

Edit: Never mind, I was able to fit it in. All’s good, thanks again.

Hey, I was wondering if this build could be done as a Druid? Similar to how you mention Elementalist, you’d lose Zolhan’s and Blitz, but gain Arcanist defensive options, and Electrocute/Crit Dmg/OA Buffs.

is there a chance the leveling guide could be added to this in the near future?

Quick and dirty mini levelling guide for the several people who are asking for one. I don’t know how well it works as I just respecced into the build from a level 90 retaliation warder, so take it with a rather large grain of salt.

Devotions: Use the list a few posts before this one.

Attributes: Throw everything into Physique. For gear fitting, use Polish Emerald components, they are some of the most commonly found. You shouldn’t need many.

Skills:

Start with Shaman, pour everything into devouring swarm, use that on your RMB. It’s not part of the final build, but it’s cheap as dirt to respec the points later. This will take you into 20+ easily.

Adding Mastery points as needed, put one point into Mogdrogen’s Pact to open Heart of the Wild, then take HotW to 4 and move up to Savagery. Now you can make that your LMB main attack, and as Devouring Swarm starts to become less effective you can respec the points into (and then start adding more as you level) Savagery, Might of the Bear, Tenacity of the Boar, Brute Force, Feral Hunger, Upheaval.

At some point you are going to need to add Wind Devil to help with reflective mobs, adding Raging Tempest to synergize with the rest of your lightning/electric attacks.

By now, if not before, you are going to want to hit Wendigo Totem to add some healing capability, you may even want to get it sooner, so keep in mind that everything in this plan is flexible, just add things as you need to.

The move into Soldier can come at any time, but this is the latest you will want to do it. You may want to do it early, like before you make the switch from Devouring Swarm as your main attack to Savagery. It adds a lot of survivability and some good damage.

So your first Soldier ability should probably be Military Conditioning, as it adds both Physique and Health, very useful in a tanky melee or a dot-and-run build because you are going to get hit a lot. Take it to 9 and then slap on 5 points of Menhir’s Will to give you an emergency circuit breaker for when you are getting low on health.

After you’ve moved into Savagery at least by one point, put one into the soldier skill Fighting Spirit for an occasional large dps surge.

A point into Blitz will give you an activatable interrupt for those caster mobs, and then taking Zolhan’s Technique to 8 gives you some burst dps and target slowing every now and again when it procs.

Everything else, just grow them as you feel you need them. Definitely make sure you get that Field Command in if you are feeling a lack of OA or DA. The rest is primarily adding more and more dps.

Gear: Use what you find, try to get a 2-hander with electrocute and/or lighting as soon as you can after you switch from swarm to savagery. Focus on flat and percentage based electrocute, armour, health, resistances and the ubiquitous OA/DA. You can use grimtools to find what is available from blacksmiths as you gain levels and access to blueprints.

Up to you what you bind your devotion abilities to, I’ve noticed that they are levelling quite well since I changed over, so I’ll list what I use:

Arcane Bomb from Widow to Zolhan’s Technique.
Reckless Tempest from Tempest to Storm Totem.
Wayward Soul from Chariot to Mogdrogen’s Pact.
Ghoulish Hunger from Ghoul to Stormcaller’s Pact.
Hand of Ultos to Blitz (this is levelling slowest, you might want to move this to a more frequently used skill like Savagery).
Elemental Storm from Rhowan’s Crown to Savagery (if you aren’t putting HoU there).

HTH

Just a point in Vines and another in its modifier and put Reckless Tempest on it, it procs pretty great and is some form of monster cc. Arcane bomb works the best with Savagery (for single target dps boost), Elemental Storm works wonders with Wind Devils (make sure you put 1 point Maelstorm), and Hand of Ultos is tailor made for Upheaval.

Thank you for this, very helpful.
