[v2.0] The Maelstrom

Question: What’s the purpose of 31% overcap bleeding resistance? Isn’t bleed damage an insignificant damage source in both campaign and crucible?

If you swap Wraith for Solemn Watcher in devotions you can get to over 3K DA with this build fairly easily: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/pZrreMMZ

If you want more defense then go for it. Guides in general only present the basic concept, the rest is flexible

Also, Bleed Resist is important and it’s only overcapped by 11%. The extra 20% is from Bloodthirster which doesn’t stay up 24/7

face palm. I missed bloodthirster in the proc buffs for some reason. Thanks!

With the latest update Inquisitor mastery is just so better for such a build - it blows out Shaman completely.

Did someone tried the build with a Purifier?

Sabo is OK for MC but anything else seems to be a drag and you are squishy as hell.

I am too used to the Sab to die on it I guess.

As for Purifier I am leveling up one but b/w RL and other builds it’d take some time.

Chthon,

Do you think you’ll pick this killer back up again and give a refresh after the last few patches, or have you moved on to other things? If Maelstrom 2.0 is on the backburner, (or maybe up on the shelf), who are you using now and are they more fun to play? Always appreciate reading your character feedback.

Thanks,
Helspondt

Guide fully re-done
Increased both offense (sheet DPS increase) and defense (increased HP and added Ghoul) of the build
Added Purifier concept for those interested

Um, Flintcore Bolts (Greater Fireblast) for a melee toon? Or are you suggesting a ranged weapon in the second slot?

During leveling off hand requirement is relatively cheap. Off hands can make use of both melee and ranged components.

I prefer to use caster playstyle for early leveling, melee is of course also possible but it’s not to my liking

Chthon,

Awesome, thanks for the refresh. I definitely enjoy using this build also (the Sab, of course).

That build^ along with a Poison CT Warlock and a Poison DEE Witch Hunter are my go to builds for testing difficulty of newly released content and farming.

Chthon, thank you for this build. I created an account to tell you that I have been using it to guide my transition from Diablo to Grim Dawn. Will you be updating it in the near future to coincide with FG?

Hey Bru,

i got my first Lightning based Saboteur running and hes amazing.
I just want to give you an idea to improve your build a little bit. I found this very useful on a shieldbreaker i have but it works on any class, using blastshield:

Bind the devotion Skill “Wayward Soul” to Blastshield. Then it will proc just on time when you need it instead of randomly.

When you have a Shieldbreaker its even stronger, cause then you can bind “Giants Blood” to “Resilience” and basically have a double up with almost similar cooldowns. (Cooldown of Skill and Devotion have to be similar, otherwise you would waste potential)

Thank you for the build, it helped me to build my Sabo.
