Villager prioritization issues

Introduction to the issue

The biggest issue in this game at the current state is villager prioritization.

In the beginning I didn’t even notice it myself, but after a few hours of playing it really shows.

The issue

There have been several issues with villager prioritization that I’ve noticed so far:

  • Building something can take an insane amount of time, not because I don’t have free villagers, but because they don’t seem to care much
    • A small “fix” I could find is just putting buildings on “priorize this” every single time
    • This is extremely frustrating for walls especially. They seem to have an even lower priorization and putting them on priority is a huge pain.
  • Repairing doesn’t really work (?)
    • I had one single building repaired in my whole playtime, when there was only one single damaged building. Whenever I had more than that, there is no way that my villagers actually repair the building.
      • Please note: I had a ton of ressources, there is no way this was an issue here.
      • Also, I had free villagers, they just didn’t bother

The tilting aspect and why I this is a huge issue

This means, that whenever there is a big raid you weren’t prepared for, you lose a ton of important buildings without any chance of getting them repaired.

Of course, you can just wait until some buildings get demolished to repair them, but this only really works well for houses.

If you’re clinic is being damaged or any other high cost (for early-mid game) building is damaged, you just lose 20 pop from there - for no reason. The villagers could just repair it instead, but there just is no way that will ever happen.

Some additional info

This really became an issue when I got to around 200 population and raids consisted of 20+ units. I played on normal difficulty. I played this game for around 10 hours now.

I agree that villager prioritization seems a bit funky, but it seems the worst around building/repairing/harvesting, like you said. I’d really like to see a masonry building and more professional builders at some point to let you build more quickly without needing 10+ builders walking to a construction area with several stones at a time and to also handle repairs.
