Since the wainwright will deliver food to temp shelter they should deliver more from the hunters and smokers and take to storage. currently all medium settings and hunting grounds have been push so far away from town, fields are also far from town. delivery wagon would help keep town feed
The more things you add to the wagons “to do” list the worse it’s going to get for them. That’s the problem with regular workers. The wagons are great, they do their job and it’s easy to control how many you need. The workers are horrible because they have so many different things they do. Stocking where they work, working, going to get food, stocking their homes, etc. Workers are so inefficient because they are running all over. Adding more to the wagons list will only make it worse. Imagine how bad it would be if they now have to slowly move to your 8 hunter shacks, 10 smokehouses, and various storages while also doing all the other things they are supposed to do?
But I want them to do more AND to be able to set up a route that they follow with stops of my choosing. Like follow this road loop stop here transfer these goods continue loop to next stop forever.
Also a wagon bus - please take large groups of people to the particular destinations at once, like the cult of farmers who believe all fields are common, sacred and that harvest is just an optional and unfortunate consequence of the existence of fields, all in the wagon, no more marathons. I would love that.
Sure, if you had the ability to actually set pickup and drop-off points to create a route that would be great. Just having them add new points to go to without any other new system would just make it worse.
Sure but not drop off points more like assigning one to farming and one to work camps. farmers have been using some kind of grain cart since the invention of the wheel
I may well be stupid but how do you add tasks to Waggons? My biggest issue right now is that my waggons spend so much time being unproductive and it weould be really good to beable to tell them to collect a specific resource from the mine or wherever as a priority.
You don’t. They’ll haul stuff from mines/pits/work camps and that’s it, but you can’t prioritise them to go to a particular one first.
whichever fills up their storage first is where the wagon goes to first… the squeaky wheel gets the grease. my wainwright system would be like:
3 buildings
6 carts
2 mining
2 wood and stone
2 farming
as this would free up resources sitting in the camp/mines and also help get from field to tables in the settlement.
I play large maps and even a cobble stone road carts take forever to reach remote camps
Thanks, thought that was probably the case. However I think it would be a great idea to be able to specifically task them as mine spend an inordinate amount of time doing nothing. I am assuming there is some kind of trigger level of product in storage that prompts them to act, so even the ability to vary that threshold would be helpful.
We can build as many Wagon Shops as we have resources to do it with. I’d be happy to have a dozen Wagon Shops IF the wagons would pick up the food from the remote smokehouses and root cellars of the hunters, fisherfolk, and foragers. Yes, the wagons are slow. But if the wagon comes around to pick up these food items and get them back to town, that means the hunters, fisherfolk, and foragers aren’t having to take their time to schlep food because nobody else is doing the job! That’s been my experience. Wagons could also distribute goods to the Markets. I have all sorts of food – and my villagers starve because the food isn’t reaching THEM.
