I want lightning to hit the ground at random times in a storm, and electrocute the shit out of mobs, or the player… it’s all down to chance… and of course you should be able to scale the chance factor with a slider.

But I’m SRS about lightning hitting the ground.

We actually have this in but weren’t able to get it looking really top-notch in time for the video. Its one of those things I’m sure we could get looking good with more time and effort but with so much else to do, this has sort of fallen by the wayside.

So glad you guys are thinking along these lines. One of those nice touches that are hard to get right!

I reckon that they should have both sun-showers and darker cloudy showers, depending on the time of day, it would add extra realism, even more variety, and plus it will look cool:D.
for example if it’s early morning/ late evening, you should have long shadows and the possibility of rain due to the location of the clouds vs. that of the sun.
If you want more just take a look on Wikipedia or Google.

I could be mistaken, but I thought that the shadows were already linked to the time of day in TQ.

I love that you suggest gettin hit by lightning… i have been playing too many games for too long, well not too long, and have recently been hit by lightning in a game, it didnt do any damage but definatly made me think, i should have been dead, cmon now i was holding 2 longswords and covered in steel armor… how unfortunate it could have been to get my first death on this game by the weather… but then again, it happens in life so. i guess just hope to not be the 1/100000000.

Imagine if wearing plate armour increased the chance of being struck by lightning in game and you had to find shelter in a near by hut or under a wagon etc… that’s be so cool. And fire! Wearing plate armour increases the chance of suffering heat damage.

And you could do something for other classes too. Wearing leather attracts nasty animals to attack you because you are wearing their family as a suit! haha

I think that’s a good idea! I can’t wait for all the rage responses of hardcore players getting struck by lightning at lvl80

Also, make it so that the game creates an automatic screenshot when you get struck, which replaces your windows background.

Try play some Magicka, that might change that

I think you should ramp up the wind sound effects though… would be cool to hear the wind whipping by once in a while makes you feel more like it’s in your ears that you’re actually there.
