I must be missing something, because most Demo builds I see have a lot of points in Vindictive Flame. I don’t see what’s so good about it. It does retaliation damage and I’d prefer to avoid getting hit. It also adds some health regen and speed, but that doesn’t seem worth spending points in it.
The modifier, Ulzuin’s Wrath, seems pretty good, so I’m sticking one point in VF just for that.
CAst speed for casters, attack speed, run speed, Very good hp regen if you have lots of + skills and invest in it. At higher levels it constantly interrupts lesser mobs,
Gonna be redudant given the posters above, but just the total speed and health regen makes it more than worth it to cap. It’s also quite easy to get it to higher levels due to being supported by a substantial aumont of items.
Also, it gets boosted a lot by demo gear. e.g. with Ulzuin’s set and related gear you can get VF and UW to 12/16 and 10/12 respectively, with only 1 point in each, adding around 10% damage in total (just from VF alone…UW isn’t calculated in sheet dps). Definitely worth it for 2 points.
Even in builds where you have to put skill points in, it’s often worth getting VF to 11/16. After that the benefit tails off.
It gives to you total speed (attack/cast/run), that is useful 4 every build.
Play melee? +% to attack speed pleasured you increased dps, monster kill speed, chances to proc anything, that has chance to “proc on attack” (indirectly, for sure, more speed - more chances)
Play caster? Same bonuses as in melee, just replace “attack speed” to “cast speed”.
I also was thinking late game. Did a quick test and have to say I overestimated it’s damage quite a bit. I percieved it as being pretty powerful due to procs.
^Yes, it helps with any on hit on crit procs you have. Keep in mind that in order for Ulzuin wrath to proc, vindictive flame itself needs to hit something. But that is not a problem, you will see it all over the place
no, but can help indirectly. The quicker you attack or cast(different spels) the faster you apply your DoT. The faster you apply your dot’s the bigger the numbers
To clarify his answer — that depends on source of DoT. Devotion procs are bound to skill, if that skill have a DoT (as in it’s his basic damage part), then devotion proc will trigger from that skill DoT only. Will not trigger from any DoTs from other skills/gear you might have. On attack procs will proc off practically everything, except pets, and maybe retaliation.
