Found the sweet spot vis the sort of music I like with the (limited) equaliser for my Steelseries Arctis 5 headphones, tempted though to use a 3rd party one. Did sort out the volume issue caused by windows settings too and now can turn stuff right the hell up. Albeit with some static if using windows master volume.
Anyhow, to help with further testing I fired up Zoe Keating’s 2 albums and lo they art wonderful. Tetrishead in particular is a old favourite:
And yes, all this is done with only 1 cello, using mics at different points on the instrument and a laptop to loop and layer.
Psychodelic Spacekraut Punk or whatever, I just know it’s amazing and a few songs reminded me a bit of KGATLW which is very amazing so it was an instant purchase.
I only listened to a few songs yesterday while being distracted but I think I gotta give her a thorough listen soon. I’m a big fan of live looping since Dub FX and Zoes approach sounds great.
i have a strong passion for rock and metal. When i steped the first time into the world of music I prefered everything out of the 80’s. While i grow up i also dicovered more and more other stuff like rap, classic and electronic music. At the moment i’m totally hooked on the actual Atlantean Kodex Album.
Ah RW is one of these bands where i never got really in. Sure they have some really good tunes like Conquistadores or Port Royale but it’s hard for me to pick a whole album.
An other good band to mention within this topic is Blind Guardian. Especially Somewehre far Beyond. The whole Album seems to be pretty underrated but it marks the stepping stone from the more power/speed oriened style of Tales from the Twilightworld up to their more bombastic sound with Imaginations from the other Side and Nightfall in middle earth.
Another great pick stylisticly not directly of the 80’s or early 90’s is Gamma Ray’s Land of the Free. The opener Rebellion in Dreamland is such an fantastic song, the build up is just awesome imo.
The other day I discovered Sa-Roc and can’t stop listening. No idea how I slept on her, she’s one of the best MCs in the world right now, and ever! Imho she’s up there with the GZA and KRS-1
could go on forever, she doesn’t have even one weak track.
Oh fuuuuuuuuck yes, new Fat Freddy’s Drop album has dropped. Well, part 1, but hey, I’ll take it. Now to make a album shaped hole in the budget for the CD. Despite the looming hole from the pit of money that is a smart phone I decided was a smart idea to buy and fix /doooooomed
Nice! I heard them first on a local indie station a few years back. I used to listen to a particular show that always had some FFD in the rotation, the host was a huge fan. She had them on the show everytime they were in town. Not sure if the show still exists but I just found out that FFD is visiting that town once again, next week to be exact I might even make it, just need a ride
Oh gods yes, their live shows are fucking awesome. Had them play during Canterbury Uni’s orientation week long ago and they did brilliant run ons and improvisation on most of their set list.
And if I wasn’t a partial shut-in (or broke lawl) due to depression I would have seen then again ;-;
