What kind of music are you listening to?

No idea sadly  Guess though it’ll take another couple of years at most. Though their sound will likely still continue to grow, and having 3 members now means I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if we get moar piano :stuck_out_tongue:

And fuck me, I forgot there was a new Sleater-Kinney album coming out this year and the first track is fucking mint:

Listening to the 2nd track and daaaaaaaamn, I can start to see why The AV Club rated it an A. I’m going to have a sore right foot from stamping along to this album and deaf from turning it right the fuck up. That and the production is utterly beautiful, Annie Clark aka St Vincent is a bloody amazing producer <3 Sadly there is nothing like the epic track Let’s Call It Love off The Woods on this album though.

Oh and this is the 3rd downer album from one of the female lead bands I love this year, thanks a fucking bunch 2nd half of the 2010’s thou art a shit. Then again I have a ton of pick me up stuff in the library, like Last Night You Saw This Band:

Also - fuck youtube again, they should have recommended me The Center Wont Hold weeks ago, but it only turned up in my recommendations today while hitting older stuff like Pink Floyd.

Lastly - Sadly S-K’s drummer, Janet Weiss has left, which sucks because she’s a utter bad arse on the drums, which combined with the new sound of The Center Cannot Hold has the commentariat on The AV Club whinging that S-K have sold out. Like fuck they have, yes there’s synths and piano in this and the production’s flawless, but it’s still got that punk/rock core that’s always defined S-K’s sound. And more radio friendly my fat butt. Because they’re not a sausage feast singing mainstream rock ā€œfriendlyā€ songs duh.

Oh yeah, forgots:

Sweeeeeet. I’ve got to give a listen to some of the stuff you’ve posted too lawl.

Though my current new-music-binge hath lead to even more stuff to listen to, like The Hold Steady:

And also BIG BRAVES:

Dear elder gods that’s Heavy.

Along with a bunch of older stuff that I never got around to listening to or didn’t know about, like Dead Sara and Le Tigre.

As a fan of both Scientist (a legend of dub reggae) and Khruangbin I was excited when Khruangbin’s bassist Laura Lee said in an interview that she learned playing bass by listening to Scientist. Which makes it even more awesome that they recently collaborated with Scientist for their new album. I love it!

That new album is pretty cool, quite interesting experimental sounds between the pop melodies and punk riffs. Reminds me that I still haven’t listened to their older stuff. Starting now with the debut album.
Also reminds me that I still gotta watch the last 2 seasons of Portlandia. Carrie Brownstein is great :grinning:

Tool all day, ever since I heard they have finally added their full catalogue to Spotify. Can’t wait for the new album to arrive. Only 7 more days. In the meantime …

A friend on Twitter linked me to this, to congratulate me for being awake with the sun for a change (instead of going to bed when the sun came up…), I think.
Either that or he was not so subtly reminding me I am ā€œoldā€, since this album came out when I was a teen. :expressionless:
Almost totally forgot about this band, and this album.
Seems to give my coffee a higher octane rating…

M.I.A.

Well, after coming in and reading a particular thread (thankfully locked before I got here…),
All I can say is- the Wheels Of Confusion were spinning in a certain someone’s head.
Wow.
Just… wow.

Wheels of Confusion

~Black Sabbath~

Long ago I wandered thru my mind
In the land of fairy tales and stories
Lost in happiness I knew no fears
Innocence and love was all I knew
It was an illusion

Soon the days were passing into years
Happiness just didn’t come so easy
Life was more than fairy tales and daydreams
Innocence was just another word
It was an illusion

Lost in the wheels of confusion
Running thru valleys of tears
Eyes full of angry delusion
Hiding in everyday fears

So I found that life is just a game
But you know there’s never been a winner
Try your hardest, you’ll still be a loser
The world will still be turning when you’re gone
Yeah, when you’re gone

You’re in for a fun listen then, because their back catalogue is fucking brilliant.

Also my right heel pad is still sore from stomping along to The Center Wont Hold. Which I’ve also made the mistake of reading the most critical reviews for and now also have slight eye strain from eye rolling on the utter wank that was the Stereogum one. Mostly it boils down to - ā€œthey’re tooooo differeeeeeeent!1!!ā€

Otherwise finally got around to giving 27 Passports a full listen (angry sauce dinner take’s about an hour to prep/cook) and daaaaamn. It good. Me listen to more.

Also added another peg to the set up that keeps my headset working and lo, I only need to tweak the new peg now if the sound goes odd/off. Really should get a new headset, but hey my Siberia’s drivers are still just as sweet as when I first got them, so nah.

Awesome song!

That’s why I never read or watch reviews of music that I’m already interested in. Why listen to Wankthony Wanktano’s opinion if I can form my own opinion by listening to the actual music myself?

that album came out half a year before I was born :stuck_out_tongue:
sounds pretty cool! imo better than what the Ramones put out that year

Great song but LOL@ the video

I already listened to Tool’s new album (yes ofc it leaked) and what can I say, it’s 100% what I expected from Tool, no surprises but also no disappointments, just great songs and flawless production.

What I’m really excited about though is the upcoming Puscifer album (hopefully a bit earlier than the slated 2021). I just love that band. For me Puscifer > Tool > Titannica > APC :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

man I haven’t thought of MC 900 ft Jesus in over 2 decades! Thanks for bringing him back to my attention, I’m enjoying his old songs so much!

Yea it’s wild, I think that song has been hibernating in my brain for 20 years as well.
Then suddenly I started humming it yesterday, then took a bit to recall who it was by (Used to have all the lyrics memorized, not so much anymore) and pulled it up on YouTube along with a few of his other tracks.

I’d never heard ā€œUFOs are realā€ though, thanks for sharing that, enjoying listening it it now.

Fear Inoculum

while playing GD - because, why not?

Found yet another thing lost from my music library when the hard drive derped. I knew I’d lost Portishead and Pluto but forgot completely about Peter Bjorn & John and Writer’s Block until I saw a thing for it on youtube.

Still holds up of course :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been listening to a lot of Jazz and some Funk over the last couple of weeks. I’m not all too familiar with those genres, so I had a lot to discover. Here’s 3 of my favorite discoveries:

I used to watch MC 900ft Jesus videos on the MTV back in the day, never owned any records but when I saw that name in your post, the memories came back
Never heard the UFO tune before either, when it came up in the playlist I thought it was a mistake since it’s so different from the other songs. Now I love this guy even more

Been listening to oldskool rap all day long. Started with KRS-One and Wu-Tang (been a fan of these guys since the early 90s), but soon the youtube algorythm went deep into the underground. So I discovered some amazing tunes from the golden era, like these:

Next up… hands down THEE best Sonic Reducer cover. Ever. For my money it is even better than the original. I will jump in the pit every time, without fail, for this song - and if you know what’s good for you, you will too, ya dig? There is only one way to listen to this song. Crank that shit to 11 and if you can find the 12 setting take it to the top.

You can thank me later for how much sex your ears are about to have.

Once upon a time a person that was less than human and in possession of approximately Zero class (that’s Zero, with a capital Z) told me that The Persuaders sucked. That person is no longer alive which is the appropriate state-of-being for life forms that lack class.

Monster Magnet’s first and imho best album

very rare Dave Grohl solo album, recorded in 1990 and released 1992 on cassette only

I love how I keep discovering more and more youtube channels with rare and (relatively) unknown music. Lots of collectors are digitalizing their old tapes and vinyls for all to enjoy. My own channel got a few copyright strikes already so I stopped uploading a few years ago… strikes might be expired by now so I guess I should try again, I still got some rare stuff lying around that’s nowhere else to be found, at least not easily. Well since I’m talkin bout my channel I might as well post something :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Here’s some rare but good stuff from my collection

Thanks to another interesting Off Topic thread, I had to whip this one out…
