I know it isnt optional, but in essence its a city town building game.
Medea havent played age of empires? What a world we are living in… its weird because titan quest and Age of empires have really strong historical connections
age of empires is a savage war game series at its core. it is not a city building game. its a military camp building game like command and conquers where you plan how to crush your enemies with military, or how you plan to defend certain objectives with military until you win. they’re all about military. there’s no peaceful moment where you stare at your villagers doing their daily lifes.
in rts games like age of empires you need to play it like how you play starcraft (focusing on apm and blitzingly efficient mouse+keyboard skillz). starcraft 2 has pretty graphics for city building game, but every player knows you hav to ignore those pretty graphics because you need to focus on apm apm apm. apm is action per minute btw.
maybe try imagine earth? its still in alpha (but close to beta), but it can be considered almost fully playable. you play as a space megacorporation trying to settle citizens into various planets while competing with rival megacorps and struggling to find the best placements for your city districts, balancing efficiency with nature’s eco health.
there are a lot of unique city building games in this age. crate can get many inspirations from them and i believe crate can make something unique and awesome.

Age of Empires is a game Medierra excelled at and what got him into the gaming industry. He used to play it competitively and was one of the top players.
With that in mind, maybe this game is Age of Empires without the combat part then. Medierra needs to hurry and reveal this game already! 
then its like command and conquer games, but you can’t build any military unit. just some workers, and they only gather resources all the time. thats it.
multiplayer will be who gets the most resources within the time limit, but players cannot attack or sabotage each other. the challenges will be exploring fog of war and claiming resource sites asap. and trying to bodyblock other players’ villagers with your own villagers to slow down their resource gathering speed. fun.

Town builder with survival - there were quite a few games lately that meet that criteria

I dont think this game will fail… we trust in Crat3 that’s why they need to release it ASAP so we can bash and mold the game to the meet needs of the community…

Its time to abandon Grim Dawn development… this game needs all of Crate talent to truly succeed… Zantai needs to join jump on board and be active in this game and not play or work on it halfheartedly… Grim Dawn is done… time to usher 2020 towards a brand new game!!!

the screenshots’ atmosphere feels nice. like the feeling you get when walking in european-style countryside.
reminds me of that beta village survival game - banished -. however, we still haven’t known what kind of crisis will happen in the game. either economic & social challenge, invaders, or natural disaster?
I tried to zoom and use my crystal clear glasses and I see they are using a modified version of the titan quest engine but with some touches if Cairn smh 
Your crystal clear glasses seem to have a smudge as you are, in fact, wrong. Medierra confirmed long ago it is in Unity. Wherever that post is… maybe medea can find it.
