Character customization and housing core features in an arpg? The best arpgs out there didn’t even have those lol.
which is exactly why wolcen is unique with these aspects. We don’t need another grimdawn, we need change, and innovation, which sets it apart from all the other arpg’s out there. Why should wolcen be held to formula of current arpgs? lets see what they can do. I don’t want another diablo3/titanquest/path of exile/grimdawn. We have these already. wolcen has the potential to be a better game then path of exile, and d3. Never in the history of arpgs, has a game combined all features into one package. housing, multiplayer hub, rich detail in graphics, and smooth animations, enviorments, textures, graphics quality, combat quality, all together! So i’ll just sit back, be patient, and give them a chance, making unique twist on arpgs.
They could be some interesting features but there is no doubt they are not the core of a game. It’s a matter of priorities it’s logic to start building from the core then polish/add peculiar stuff and not viceversa. I never said i want wolcen to be poe or something.
A game that looks shiny and new is fine but if the mechanics behind the scenes don’t work, who cares? It will still be a failure, no matter how shiny. I think these developers have their priorities mixed up.
I wouldn’t even call a second act a core feature. It’s just new story and new arts on same tech.
I would have seen apocaliptic form (the main feature of the game during the KS campaign) or multiplayer to me more important than the housing.
yes, it is mostly new assets, but that does not mean it is not a feature of the game, just not of the engine (at least no major one, you might have some additions and tweaks for things you come up with).
I would have seen apocaliptic form (the main feature of the game during the KS campaign)
that is even less of a feature than the second act
unlike the one below… doesn’t it already support MP though ?
or multiplayer to me more important than the housing.
Takes time to make a game, especially if they redid a lot.
when I waited for GD it was the same 3+ years before it was done and out.
Seems they may have chewed over to much and may suffer a longer dev time for it. same as star citizen has (never gets done)
If apocalyptic form is not a core feature, nothing is.
of the game yes, of the engine no
I don’t understand all the bad mouthing, it’s just a mere 11 days delay. In comparison Grim Dawn next expansion has several month delay.
They are making their first game on CryEngine 3 that was rarely (never?) used to make hack and slash games.
I am confidend Wolcen will be released, even though it may take one more year.
Well, the biggest difference is that Grim dawn devs communicate waaaay before an eventual delay.
No, the biggest difference is that grimdawn had visible progress. Wolcen hasn’t changed in a year of “development”.
and the Biggest difference is that wolcen game, they dont have a zantai that keeps you entertained and despite you waiting for years you still feel happy with his trolling antics! in short Crate devs rock:cool:
The beta phase 1 is next week, and we have a preview :
Looking awesome!
It looks pretty good, and it has a huge potential.
I’ll be interested to see what they have managed to do in the past year… I was a very early supporter. I got burned out on the alpha though.
Huh, maybe this will get over the line then. Well, it’s more likely to do so than Star Citizen.
Might even buy it now.
Though I definitely will be avoiding the steam discussion page for it like the plague, the salt levels in there (and in the reviews) is toxic.
Beta got delayed again, lololol!
“H… have s… some p… patience, g… guise!”
What worries me are statements like
For the past seven months, our team doubled in size – we are more than 30 internally - and developed a new state of mind: we want to create something big. We are building Wolcen as a world, not just a single game. We want our game universe and art direction to be as great as possible to allow this universe to live and evolve in the next 10 years.
maybe deliver a game first and when that sells, aim for the next step.
Aiming way too high is a recipe for disaster. The game is not done by the time you run out of money… 30+ employees aren’t cheap, do they have some outside funding now or is this all from KS and EA sales ?
