Wolcen now on Early Access on Steam

It uses the crysis engine right? I have only played 2 games with that engine, Crysis and Ryse, both have surprisingly huge file sizes… well ryse anyway, Crysis has been so long I can’t remember.

I wouldn’t say rip off, I would say improving on something that has shown to be an object of interest for ARPGs.

Also, what if I told you it was done in the past, before Path of Exile?

With 4 rotating rings, the builds/combinations is gonna be staggering

Plus synergies with gear - good luck balancing all that…

Oh awesome! As if GD isn’t already consuming all of my free time…

Note: The above statement is not a complaint in any way or form.

FFX ftw

I like how the players kills himself with the Overheat skill. lol

Cool looking system, though.

There is also the fact that the skill gem system on PoE is very similar to the Materia System from Final Fantasy VII.

Yeah as I implied, poe wasn’t being original with their passive skill ‘forest’

I am really interested in where this can go, and I know that it is an alpha, but this kind of strikes me as one of those things that meanders around development for an eternity. There’s just a little too much ambition for what they have on the plate.

Well I mean… how long has the game been in development? It took crate like 5 or 6 years to bring us the complete vision that is Grim Dawn.

True. I too find the concept interesting and it looks promising.

P.S realized a few days ago it’s pronounced “Wolsen” and not “Wolken”

Bits from the recent update:

  • The game won’t ship in October, as planned, but I think we all saw that coming.
  • They will focus on the PC version and make the Linux version later.
  • They may migrate to CryEngine V, though it wasn’t clear if that was for the PC or Linux version. Or both.
  • The largest patch to date is coming soon. It will contain the new passive skill tree system.

I backed it, but never installed it. I need to give it a try.

Were they really aiming to release this month?!? Based on what I’ve seen I assumed 2018 was the goal.
Haven’t bought it yet, but I am really hope it turns out as awesome as it looks like it can be.

pc version or linux version… this is really weird statement.

what do you think linux and windows run on? :stuck_out_tongue:

I purchased this a while ago and have tried it a couple of times… I certainly has my attention as its fun and seems like once it all comes together the combat will be fast and fluid which is always great in ARPG’s, also its freaking pretty!

Can’t wait for more content and hopefully a finished project.

That passive tree looks very interesting, I’d like to see what happens in the following months with the game. I expect a full release in at least two years, it’s standard development time after all.

I think I’ll support the game, but mainly because Wolcen is a french studio so maybe it’s a good thing to help your cousins, so to say.

They’ve released an experimental patch for the new skill tree and housing system.

EDIT: 8.3 GB on an experimental patch… LUL

That’s some Mortal Kombat X patching right there

Probably a cry engine thing. Marvel Heroes and ark occasionally will have immense patches. I remember mh had like 1 gb patches every week, and like next to no content., just minor fixes and stuff… when there was actual content, 5 gb for one new hero, looool.

new passive tree is in the alpha now, along with auto dash, gap closer for melee

As well as your building your home - I can see why the patch is so big
Plus there are new tile sets for the random dungeon stuff

Examples

Probably the same assets they use for the rest of the game “maps”

I haven’t been following this game at all, but it looks like I should have.

Has there been any mention of local co-op? Or at least LAN co-op?
