Hello guys, I wanted to get a GD’s world map image file for a certain use.
it doesn’t have to be a high-res original file, but wouldn’t hurt if I could get it, right?
so I googled but found nothing,
and I found an old post in the forum, but the link is not working.
so if someone knows how to get this image, I’d be much appreciated.
PS.
I am writing short novels with Grim Dawn lore for fun.
I wanted to include the world map image to display those main protagonists’ routes, in their stories.
(since it’s GD lore based novel, Imma upload them in this forum when it’s done.)
A few years ago, I assembled the map sections from the ui folder and created one large composite for use in my own mod. I have it in PSD format if you need it, but heres the whole map, in uncompressed PNG format. Its only the background, without place names or any icons on it. It also does not include the FG or AoM overlay maps.
Keep in mind, youll need to break it back down into its 10 different submaps if you want to use it in-game.
Thank you very much my good sir!
this is what I needed.
however, I’d like to keep the riftgate and region names with the background…
I suppose those are included in the .PSD file?
I kinda can use photoshop, but if you have other map image assets too, I’d like to check them as well.
I don’t need AoM but if I can get the raw image of FG section, that might come in handy too.
PS.
I am not gonna use these for in-game related stuff.
when I post my fan-fic in the forum, I wanted to include the world map, and display character’s route as the story/chapter goes.
(also I made/making main characters’ reference builds on grimcalc. hahah)
No, i cant help you with the names and icons. Those must be exposed and added by the game as a player discovers the world or navigates the mods.
And the other layers in my PSD file are places i added for my own mod, The Shrine of Rhyanna. For example, i added a big lake in the region west of Arkovia. Also put into my backstory an ongoing war with the trolls in the far west, the edge of the Grim Dawn civilization. My story doesn’t intersect the Grim Dawn canon, but i have seen hints that the upcoming official mod Fangs of Asterkhan may take place in that region, and i may have to relocate the scene of my own mod. Thats why I’ve put it on hold.
ngl, it “always” puzzled me there wasn’t a high quality world map in the Media section Media – Grim Dawn and was the first place i checked for this or Nemesis art etc(which was scattered around the forum/wiki instead )
oh, I think I purchased the loyalist edition there,
and I also remembered that I have an unused original GD key somewhere haha
(none of my friends wanted to play GD sadly)
anyways, I tried to login but Humble Bundle’s verification code is not coming to my inbox somehow.
However since I already have the image file needed, thanks to @Harbinger
so I guess it doesn’t really matter for now.
Thanks for the reply btw.
Unfortunately no. I didnt find and i didnt need it. My mod was set on the opposite side of the sea from Malmouth, so i only assembled the main vanilla map.
It’s sadly not. Me and some friends are planing on doing a homwbrew Pathfinder game set in the GD setting, and we are trying to find a good world map. And the one that Harbinger had posted is as close to perfect as any of us have been able to find.
Apologies for gravedigging, but I have combined several screenshots of Grimtools into a single image, and thought of sharing it here.
It is 3072x3072 PNG.
Na. I don’t think so. This forum is pretty laid back, unlike other forums.
Plus, if that was the case, you can just delete that post, make a new thread and put in a link to this one.
Anyways, great job and thanks for the map. It definitely puts things into perspective.
Also… looking at that map, still plenty of room for an xpack or two. Maybe some DLC content goodness.
I know. FoA is the last one, but then again… I heard the same thing about FG and AoM too. NEVA SEY NEVA!!! Plus, I think Crate likes making money, so… YA NEVA KNOWZ!!!
Just because the map looks empty doesn’t mean there are assets that can be used. Zantai said a while back that adding the new areas they did some time ago used up all those.
And AoM was never mentioned as being the last expansion for the game.
