Hello, I’m currently playing the latest version 0.9.7g, and I’ve noticed a frustrating issue: villagers completely ignore wounded individuals, even when there’s no danger nearby. Dozens of villagers just walk over or past a critically injured villager without reacting at all. They go on with their daily tasks like robots, showing no concern.
Please consider implementing a feature where the nearest villager reacts to a wounded one and prioritizes carrying them to the healer immediately. Currently, this feature is completely missing. There’s also no way for the player to manually command a villager to carry a wounded person to safety — they just stand over the body, then return to their routines after displaying “waiting for commands.”
It’s especially frustrating when you care about each villager and don’t want to lose them due to such preventable oversights. I really hope this gets addressed soon. Looking forward to the main release with fingers crossed!
Best of luck with development, and thanks for the great game!
If there is a villager nearby who has just finished his work, he will carry the injured comrade to the healer’s house, but the villagers who are on a task will not stop to help the dying. It would be nice if closest villager would prioritize saving wounded villager over any current task though.
If you think about it, it’s like in real life, when people ignore a person in need, thinking to themselves, “It’s not my problem, someone will help him” and pass by.
Agreed. This has been an issue for years. The solution is to mimic a building fire. In this, some number of nearby villagers will stop what they are doing and help put it out. It used to be too many but that has been fined tuned to be just enough. All we’re asking for is 1 nearby person to stop what they are doing and help the pour souls. We lose way too many lives to bleed out. The victim should have their wounds caked in mud or bandages to stop or slow the bleeding to give the helper more time to rush them to the healers hut or hospital.
I propose maybe only people with a basic education be able to stop or slow the bleeding, but anyone should be able to pick them up and carry them off. Doesn’t have to be a laborer. There are often foragers and hunters near by as they tend to be spread throughout the map. It would give prudence to buddy system building (two or more hunters or hunter/forager combos).
With the educated person feature to slow/stop bleeding, when the victim is being transported by an uneducated one, he should be passed off to the first educated one found enroot and his wounds treated. Any profession that wields a weapon should have basic first aid abilities as well.
Edit: Add to that, if you use a group of villagers to fend off a bear or some wolves, they technically took a break from what they were doing before to respond. Then after the threat is gone, this is a good opportunity for them to pick up the fallen or wounded but instead, they go back to what they were doing before the battle. Normally they flee but in this case I grouped them together to attack at once while the injured one was running toward the ambush point. Sometimes they don’t make it alive or they’re badly hurt and bleeding out. This is the case where people I know stopped working to fight should be ready to tend to the wounded. Things would be so much simpler if we could just click on a villager, and right click on a person in need to send them the help, or right click on goods left on the ground to have them stock it in storage somewhere. If I could round up some laborers, I’d even send them to a relic site that they’ve been ignoring for in game decades while I have been fending off small raids to it.
This has been a thing for years as others have said, devs seem to not want to patch it, Ive played almost every beta and its been an issue, one person was saved out of every ten to die in my tests
The health bar timer really needs to be increased and the priority of the downed people need to be changed to max priority.
I even pulled a healer out of a hospital that had four healers and no patients. The bleeding victim was within 3 tiles of the hospital. I move the healer next to him and when he timed out, he went back inside to sell snake oil. Pathetic!
My town was just attacked by a band of 147 raiders — complete with horses, bows and heavily armed infantry. After ending them off, i got the the raid win notification and learned that game concluded that I lost only 10 villagers during the attack. Okay.
But what wasn’t accounted for were 5 villagers who were simply left to bleed out and die, one by one, without any help. One of those villagers was me — I had given my name, along with the prefix “Major”, to the first boy born in the game.
May he rest in peace, and let’s hope the next patch fixes this issue.
