Maybe it is not super tanky but cmon I did all the last area without dying even once then this b**sh*t boss… Do you mean all melee now have to be mega tank builds? Rly? That boss hits like a truck dealing almost 9k damage then those aetherial dots or something. I managed to reach stage 2 with 2 deaths but then… I just can’t killl him and the fight is very frustrating.
I just though it would be so much (MUCH) easier if I could just pop my totems or use pets and kite around. It is just ridiculous.
First thing I can see is: your DA is way too low, even with Night’s Chill. You don’t need tank levels but 2400 is a safe bet for the new content. Check your chance to be crit from the final boss to be certain as it is probably the source of your deaths.
How come it is ok for all the other content including bosses? I don’t know where I can get that much DA from. Now that final boss fight is anti-melee. Or you have to make a tank which I don’t like at all. Ok, died 10 times. Killed him. Forgot. The worst experience in the whole AoM expansion for me. Sorry
Seconding that you have way, WAY too low DA. Also, good lord man put a point into Blade Barrier! It is enormously useful. The boss telegraphs his big attacks like it’s the ball dropping on NYE. BB just before it lands and you will soak the entire thing.
Edit: the fight isn’t anti-melee, I beat it on my first try with no deaths on my melee character. You just need to utilize situational awareness and have defensive abilities of any sort.
Swapped out some of your Breath of Life as you had overcap on Vitality resistance and balanced out your Physique/Cunning/Spirit a bit (don’t think i’m missing any equipment requirements). With Night’s Chill, this should effectively have about 2400 DA: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/lNkBelRZ
And yeah, put a point into Blade Barrier as Yawgmoth said, saves lives.
200 DA more… it is like 1% less chance to crit. It can’t explain that much deaths. Ok maybe 1-2 deaths was from crits but not the rest of them.
But thanks for Breath of Life hint. It is a nice thing to add.
His attacks are well telegraphed so you can avoid them if they give you that much trouble
You lack armor absorption, stun reduction, DA and hp. You even lack mythics. The newer areas are balanced around mythics.
He is still doable w/o the mythics though
Really. Maybe not “Mega”, but “Tank” - for sure.
At least, Crate thinks so.
P.S. You can “cheese” last boss if you overcap your Aether Resist to hell. Try 2x Purified Salt + Avenger of Cairn + consumable from Malmouth Resistance. With 95% Aether Resist, he will hit like a joke.
Did you read my post? I didn’t die even once in the whole act VI ! So you say that just for that single fight I have to REGEAR?? Are you serious? My damage is not even that great I don’t have mythical weapons. How do I get more armour really?
It might not be much but 200 DA can do a decent amount. One of my Sorcerers pre-expansion went from around a 6% chance to crit on a certain Boss to 0 with an additional 250 DA
So Crate makes items for poison/ acid builds (pants, gloves, boots) and then you say I should wear just a plain tank pants - HP, armour , stun res? What a dull game design then. When can I wear those nice mythical new boots and gloves then?? I don’t know how do i get that much armour , stun resistances without sacrificing too much damage I already had to use tanky belt, shoulders… what more?
Umm, not sure why you want to go full offense. If you plan to do melee acid build then to hit the the enemy you need to stand meaning you should be able to take some punishment
Sacrificing a little damage for more staying power ensures consistent performance. Damage is useless if you can’t even stand in front of your enemy. Your build also lacks execution.
So far I only have my Retaliation Tank hybrid done with most of the content including AoM. There’s a reason why I have parked toons in HC (Casters/Ranged/Non-Tanks)… No Mythics/High Level Gear.
I’m just farming gear to get something close/servicable to what I envisioned for their BiS. The AoM content in general hits like a truck for one to randomly play through the content without being prepared. If they released lvl 94 items, you can almost be sure it’s a necessity. They give you tons of armor, improved stats on Res/DA/OA bonuses you would otherwise lack.
I rant quite a lot about this game’s anti-caster/ranged play a lot, due to the things you just mentioned. But before I rant, I make sure I do my due diligence. You should do the same.
Difficulty curve has its annoying peaks. Some stuff should be a bit toned down I suppose. Not much though. Imo best bosses fight had Torchlight 2. Interesting, entertaining, immersive, with some tactics and not frustriating, well… probably somewhat too easy:p neverheless more fun than GD especially endbosses
Until you try it at near 2600 DA, you are spinning your wheels. It’s amazing you made it as far as you did with such ridiculously low DA.
And you will also want a couple stat sticks. Mythics alone is often not good enough. Get a couple green pieces with massive DA, OA, resists and HP. The belt and boots are a good place, as you can craft them with the new recipes and their Mythic versions are kind of sucky.
I ended up removing pants, shoulders, and one ring (all pure damage for my build) in lieu of defensive gear and my survival rate skyrocketed through the roof. The only downside is that it took me an extra three seconds to kill the same bosses I was killing before once all my procs activated. I think I went from 130kish DoT crits down to 110k DoT crits which is negligible, especially if you’re swapping out that damage for more resists, armor, and life.
I killed him in my old Ultos gear with a two hander, although I did have like ~2400 DA by that time and still it was close a lot, had to be smart about it.
You have a super glassy char, 1000 armor with basic aborb, 15% phys res, 2000 da and no ghoul constellation or any circuit breaker - sure way to die by way of 1000 deaths in expansion if you are playing a melee char. It’s like so many things can kill you if shit goes south.
Last boss is just fine. You probably haven’t met Grava.
Did you really look at my build? My shoulders, belt, medal? So why are talking about ‘full offense’ when it is not? I took Turtle, Behemoth in constellations as well
