There is no doubt that runes deliver higher bursts of damage. Rune of Haggarad Especially. Haggarad was the “icing” on the cake and ended up being mosgt of the cake. With CDR and Artifact handling it is just awesome really. Lots of fun in crucible since you can greet incoming waves with pre cast runes (allawys take chillsurge, people seem to be ignoring the awesome frostburn damage which is key, especially vs small hit boxes). Kalastor needs some conversion mods and is a bit more spread out but is also very useful with Ignition only. Whatever you fancy allways take the DoT component I think
Fire Ignaffar vs cold:
As I am leveling a Mage hunter right now i believe fire ignaffar is more potent, especially in this class combo. All that crit dmg and also easier OA and cast speed it’s much easier (Less DA though). But I only use ignition to stack Burn, Kalastor without mods and all that spread out damage/damage types i’m not quite sold. Since hunter has naturally better OA and Mirror you can use Censure for once (though cold guy has bitchin’ VoS), and really, Censure+OFF+Iganffar/Ifnition+Flame torrent is sexy:cool:
To Sum it up. The cold version is more versatile, maneuverable. CC (Awesome VoS) Feels like a combo between a Mage and an Assassin and I like that a lot.
The fire guy, although not finished, seems to be doing more damage in general, Very good synergy between skills and devo, crits, bit more reckless, more static cause no SS.
I really like both, one uses a more underhanded style, and the other is an up in your face, you done fucked it up type of mage
Good and informative reply
While I am aware how good arcanist is and understand the appeal of Mage hunter, wouldn’t Purifier be a good class combo as well?
That way one need not rely on Censure for the RR and can safely pick Conviction for tankiness since Mines would be a source for RR in Purifier
Start inquisitors put one point in storm box and max lightning tether, put 1 point in rune of Haggard then head to chillsurge and put 9 points in that then max out haggard after that point you can start on nightblade
That’s how I’d do it at least
hey men great build. just a question though. i see you mentioning Mage Hunter as variant, which do you prefer? do you think Star Pact is better than Aura of Conviction for this? or Aura of Censure since you missing the resist reduction from Night Chill? thanks great job.
MAge hunter is fire for me, so i;m doing it with censure. Hope i’ll get it ready soon enough. I like this variant a lot too. I like both, Different play styles
As a complete newbie to the game, I couldn’t find my way on progression on my char. I am around level 12 nightblade at the moment who has 3 devotion points but i couldn’t find any way to apply below knowledge.
I only have shadow strike skill above and couldn’t find anything related to rumor (or even spreading rumor?) I only found hand of ultos on star map but I have no seal of blades. I found whirlpool but I am very far from inquisitor seal at the moment.
Maybe this is not a beginner friendly build but I really want to make this build work.
Could you (or anyone) please update (explain) these parts for more beginner friendly since lots of people bought this game new on the recent sale?
Rumor comes from the devotion called Murmur, Mistress of Rumors, it applies a cold resistance reduction to ennemies (very usefull here ). It is located on the down-left side of the beginning star.
Nice kill on the Mad Queen, did you try this build against Mogdrogen or Ravager? and a question about rune of hagarrad: can it hit the same target multiple times in 1 cast (if the target’s hitbox is big enough)?
Wow thank you for your quick reply, actually I was expecting RTFM kinda reply and I hesitated before asking.
I have a few more newbie questions:
I have trouble deciding on my roadmap. I am level 22 and I only give points to nightblade skills. I have only shadow strike for damage which has a cooldown and I am kinda slow. Also I am almost exclusive giving points on physique.
What order should I give skills?
When should I start to give other stats?
I already gave Eel 3 devotions, what should be next?
Just started the game after two years of hiatus (which then I had only Level 7 nightblade). I am not new to arpg but cannot find time after work with kids to read guides etc. I really wanted to find my own and tinker with builds but lots of mechanics (binding skills to devotions etc.) and synergies (damage types etc.) led me to use build compendium. But even with this build I am completely clueless how should I progress.
So I am thankful for taking your time and help and lead me through.
