[1.009 - 1.1.9.8] Lightning God Rises - 4:20m Crucible, SR 75-76, Ravager, Lightning melee Druid [g3][c+][sr]

A storm is coming:rolleyes:

What is this cryptic message? Are you making Primal Strike Ultos build that will put my druid to shame? Did I forget to turn the stove off? Is Trump actually a lizzard?

Rumbling thunders answer in the distance…

Hey,
could anyone tell me pls where does that lightning effect coming from? (the constant lightning storm from above)? Is this some devotion skill or WPS?

Big fat lightning strikes from above come from Primal Strike (skill) and Reckless Tempest (devotion proc). Small dark blue clouds with electricity sparks - that’s the proc from Ultos set.

Thank you very much! This build is looking very cool, love the lightning effects. I am thinking, would a similar build be possible for a trickster? It would be lovely to have a Shadow Strike as it seems great for moving around the map faster, but I am not sure about the synergies:( Maybe with savagery instead of PS, but then we would lose the cool lightning effects:(

Trickster is for dual-wielding, 2h Trickster would be probably based around cold damage. You can go Conjurer or Warder with this setup. Superfluff made a nice Conjurer Ultos, guide is on the front page of this forum section, you should check it out!

Yep, Ive seen it, looks pretty insane. I would love to play some fun melee build with cool looking visual effects and these Ultos primal strike builds are looking damn awesome in this regard. However I would love to have some mobility skill and shadow strike is just perfect for this (blitz would be another alternative), but neither Nightblade nor Soldier seem to have much synergy with primal strike builds in terms of active skills, however they do offer some solid passive skills that could be useful. Do you think it would be viable build to just take those passive skills from Nightblade and just focus on Shaman skills?

Or is there some cold damage attack skill with nice visuals (other than Rune of Hagarrad)?

thanks in advance

You can play Ultos warder based around Savagery. Pretty strong build if you do it right. Less flashy than Primal Strike. Or if you just love having mobility skills, you can sacrifice a bit of performance and go for Riftstone component in weapon so you can have Chaos Strike as a mobility skill.

2 handed Primal Strike Trickster is possible, but it’s going to be very hard to gear and it’s going to lack damage when compared to Conjurer or Druid.

Chaos strike seems exactly what I am looking for (basically shadow strike from item). Will have to sacrifice a weapon component for it to get it, but it could be worth it for the mobility. Or maybe have it in weapon swap and make some macro so it switches to primary weapon immediately after:) Thanks a lot, didnt know about it

Made some major updates to the build. One of the OG melee Ultos builds is stronger than it has ever been. Check the original post, but let’s just say that running around with 3500-3700 OA (depending on Badge of Mastery proc) and 156% Critical Damage is hella fun (that is without buffs or banners).

Congratulations on updating this monster!
I’m sure that Upheaval helps greatly with such high OA. Every crit will now hit in small AoE.
Btw check my alternative devotion route too. I think Revenant is more valuable compared to Jackal.

Thanks for that suggestion. I do loose massive amounts of DA (because no Solemn Watcher) which are partly redeemable by moving augments around and swapping into Survivor’s Ingenuity and changing Sailor’s Guide to Eel. So ends up 400 more hp/3% more adtch/racial damage/racial damage reduction versus 60 DA/3% phys res/18 slow/freeze res/20% reflected damage reduction. Tough choice, but because it’s a Druid, I think it’s more important to stick to all DA you can get, plus slow/freeze res is also really really valuable.

Dont forget 6% attack speed bonus as well. You can still keep Sailors Guide if you take Scholars light instead of Toad. I think those bonuses, especially the racial ones outweigh those that you lose from Solemn watcher (especially if you dont have trouble capping pierce res. and ure using Judicator rings). In the worst case, if DA still feels too low, you can swap Sparkbloom powder (build already has crazy OA) for Ravager eye.

Btw may I ask why you have 3 pts in Maiven Sphere? Isnt like one of the biggest reasons to actually go Arcanist as secondary class? I mean I would just max it or not take it at all, honestly, but it gives 20% damage absorption if you soft cap it, which is rly strong.

6% attack speed bonus is not really a bonus since I loose Jackal (which by the way looses me some walking speed). And build is starved on DA, and I can’t take Ravager’s eye (because it’s the most boring augment) because I am hostile with Barrowholm with this character.

I think after playing Crucible with all kinds of Arcanist class combos I felt out of love with Maiven. The damage mitigation it offers is a bit overrated, and damage penalty at 12/12 is just too severe. For this particular character capped Wendigo Totem and more damage because of having lesser damage penalty from 3/12 Maiven’s felt more effective after I tested in Crucible. To explain with a practical example, 12/12 Maiven is not going to make a difference when you are getting swarmed by 2-3 aom Nemeses at once at higher Crucible Waves, you will get spanked anyway unless you kite or reposition or use mirror. But, with 3/12 Mirror it’s a big difference when you are racing against time in one on one duels with Nemesis at waves start and you need to finish this duel before other Nemeses catch up. Also, against nasty hero packs capped Wendigo Totem helps more than 10% more damage absorption when you are caught in all kinds of filthy ground effects like fumble and skill distruption.

I hope I answered your questions!

Yes, thank you very much!
Its true that you lose Jackal, but you can take Viper instead, which should be even better constellation (3% OA and RR), unless its not working as intended (Ive read some thread where Ptiro was arguing that it doesnt work properly and actually increases monster resistances instead decreasing them, while others were saying its not true). Myself have no idea, but would love to have some clarification on this since I am using that constellation in basically all of my builds lol

Hi Mad Lee,

Thanks for the guide! Really appreciated!

Kind of a newb question… But how do you switch from one skill to another as suggested by the leveling guide when you start out as a Shaman with devouring swarn…

Thanks

You can respec all allocated skills by Spirit guide (chick in the Devils Crossing, later you can find her in the Coven). You dont even need to level with Devouring Swarm, I leveled with PS from the get-go, its rly strong leveling skill, wipes out everything in seconds (I used transmuted PS though).

All right, Crate better release 1.0.7 fast because I just can’t stop min-maxing all of my builds.

This is my first character and my first guide. After Ashes of Malmouth I kinda abandoned it because it became kind of unreliable as a Crucible farmer. But after couple of hours of trial and error I made this build great again. And now it requires no green items to function properly.

Recorded a video too: 9:20 4 blessings no banners run.

Another polishing touch that made build super consistent - Haunted Steel instead of Seal of Blades in a weapon slot. We do lose tiny bit of lightning damage and bit of armor, but 3% more ADCtH and a great proc that is basically another life if Mirror/Ghoul are on a cooldown turned out to be actually game changing.

Edited some of the parts of the guide and uploaded relevant stats screenshots.

Also decided to hunt down this build’s old Nemesis - Reaper of the Lost (build had problems killing him in its previous iterations) and record a video: well, 2nd most fearsome Nemesis got destroyed in 9 seconds without mirror or Ghoul. Here is the video (added to the guide).
