[1.1.1.2-1.1.6.2] Beginner's vitality Ravenous Earth Oppressor with leveling guide

Load your saves on Grimtools, it will highlight whatver super important quest you missed out on.
And remember that you get 2 skill points by unlocking SR levels! (completing boss rooms on the 4th chunk).

P.S. @Nery where that 1.1.6.2 version at fam?! I’ve been looking into making a super duper Ravenous Earth toon for some time and unfortunately I suck at making builds.

Budget version is for 1.1.6.2. Same thing is for end game options. Only leveling is from 1.1.1.2 but should still work.

Hello! I’m kind of new to the game (Played here and there but never really invested time in it like now) and I was wondering, i kinda of want to eventually go towards that endgame Bone Harvest 2h melee build you linked, when would you consider a good threshold to cross and consider switching? For example, do I need all the purples listed in the endgame build before switching or will I be able to perform at least close to the this RE build without every item?

Thanks in advance!

Well most end game builds need precise gear in order to function. For example the BH build needs full Blood Knight set and Nightbringer weapon. So if you have just this or the other good 2H weapon you can try building hybrid with BH and RE even without full set.

PS, welcome to the forum!

Hi, I have question for you. I dropped Mythical Contagion, wouldn’t be better than Word of Soael?

That’s precisely what I’m doing. Changing the character completely at 94 is so anticlimatic
Tried BH + RF first but quickly switched to BH + RE, because the first combination was kinda clunky.

Here’s my current toon without the gear. But I’m about to upgrade items, augments, components to 75 level.

And the feeling when I get the set and the gloves is going to be amazing.

That’s a close call. Solael have guardans mod and Contagion have better stats, proc and skill bonuses. If you can’t cap RE without Contagion, you can try it out.

Big thanks for the build, especially for “leveling” part, important for me, as a noob. Trying different builds with leveling part now, lol.

Thanks a lot for the reply! I totally understand what you mean, I think i might start transitionning towards a bit of Bone Harvest at the same time (maybe without the 2h requirement until I find a good one), being lvl 71, since RE has already been maxed and doing very good damage, and most of the other passives/aura have already been quite invested in.

And thanks for the welcome!

does this guide still work with recent patch?

Well patches usually shift things but this build should still be viable. I prefer Conjurer with Dark one set but Oppressor works well too and Ravenous earth is strong leveling skill.

Is the Devotion section strictly for the budget build because they do not match the grimtools links in the leveling guide? I’m fairly noobish at this game and came back after a lackluster poe league so I am unfamiliar with how guides are written here.

Initially they were same but I’ve updated my budget build but haven’t re-leveled it . So devotion map of budget build should be better.

As devotions, sometime leveling one is different then end game, since good devotions are hidden behind affinity requirements and you can take some devotions early on for stats or their proc but later they become redundant, when you can afford top tier constellations.

Like for elemental builds it’s good idea to go straight for Elemental Storm, high flat RR and proc is doing some damage early on. But later you can take Revenant or Scales if you fit better in your devotion path and substitute Storm.

Thank you, I have been following the devotion section while leveling and it seems good so far. Actually, the build makes leveling a breeze. Level 55 now and just getting into Malmouth areas.

I’m also a little confused with devotions. I’m close to level 60, and have just got to the point where you add a red node, then remove Jackal. Next steps are Spider, Rattosh, Dying God.

I already meet the requirements to take Dying God, so I’m not sure what the benefit of taking Spider is, and I also don’t understand why Rattosh is key to a vitality build. AFAIK the pet bonuses are wasted, and the only offensive benefits are % aether damage and OA. I feel like I must be missing something, but I’m not sure what. Would anyone be able to advise please? Thank you!

Build is awesome otherwise, having a lot of fun, so thanks!

The devotion as you see in GT is Rattosh the Veilwarden, which is vitality based devotion with - RR proc. So you need it on every vitality build. Also Dying God with it’s insane %vitality damage on the proc, which with Path of the Three cooldown reduction is permanent .

Ah. I searched for Rattosh and only found the staff. So yes, I was missing something! Thanks for explaining, makes much more sense of course!

What if you go for Abomination instead? Is it worth it? I’m sure someone tested it

[edit] Probably worth considering more for i.e. Vitality Oblivion builds

I’ve saw Abomination tests but on the expense on Dying God, not Rattosh. DG version still performed slightly better, despite conversion on the proc form acid. For melee Idk if you can net chaos to vitality conversion and take both hands

But for caster is safe to say DG+Rattosh is best possible map.

Hi nery; I was helping someone with this devotions. I think you mean “hawk” and not “spider”

  • So instead of spider it should read “Hawk”, then rattosh then dying god to proc.

  • Also you can not have wendigo bound to the guardians, they will not heal you because wendigo proc has no wpn dmg. So needs to be bound to another skill.

can you update the guide?
