[1.1.1.2] Physical Retal Stoneguard Warlord - SR 85++

Thank you:)

Hmm, i’ve done 2x grava and 2x aleks(2x aleks is the worst though for this guy) - teleport rune is the secret

However, expect incoming nerfs

Videos are postponed

Doing this is a good idea?

/calc/q2mdRa5N

It has more OA and Attack speed, and has less DA
Or it’s a bad idea to lower the DA

Cunning is completely up to you. I posted a more middle ground for the player since this is SR not cruci. You can do 75 with your DA,

The we’ll see how bad the nerf will be

I understand Aleksander, he’s a caster and casters dont do well w/retaliation. What is it about Grava’thul that’s so difficult? It’s hard to tell all his abilities during the madness of a fight

Did you try fist of vire?

Aside from null, which is easy to dodge but forces you to change your rotations, there’s fumble pools which limits your damage and lifesteal.

Grava hits you so fumble isn’t so bad. He will damage himself and you can also shotgun him with Honor (another reason to use honor)

Nullify- when you see Grava raise his arms up and do a little dance, make a lil’ love, he will cast 2x ballz of nuillify that are slow and collide with objects.

When you see him do that, position yourself so that an object will stand between you and grava. Teleport rune is the best at this. The best in general.

Hi Fluff, thanks a lot for posting your build. I’ve been looking forward to completing this bad boy, but i’m hitting a bit of a wall as I level. I’m trying to stack retaliation wherever I can, but it really feels like cadence outperforms Righteous Fervor the vast majority of the time. I’m not exactly sure if I’m gearing wrong, or if this is mostly an endgame type of build.

I’m getting ready to slot in some proper gear now that i’ve used Lokarr’s set to level 47. Should I keep trying to hit stupid amounts of retaliation? I’m not very familiar with how the retaliation damage on these types of builds work, unfortunately.

Thanks again for your work.

Sorry to jump out uninvited.

Imo how retaliation works for leveling is that it doesn’t. You got two obstacles instead of just one: low global retal modifier due to low lvl gear and low ‘%retal added’ due to no access to skills’ high ranks yet.

(Also jumping in uninvited)

Perdition set allows you to level with Acid + Acid retaliation (in the end it’s mostly the Acid damage ^^). For me it has worked out quite well (I became bored leveling with the same skills - Forcewave, Primal Strike, etc - over and over again)
What I did was basically taking Aegis + Acid modifier (adding retal damage to aegis), Guardian + Acid modifier (sweet RR) and RF + Acid modifier

Hope this helps

You need to be teaked at lvl 40 to be able to use retal properly and if you do it works very well. If not just co classic cadence. Post a GT of your build

I’m doing a similar build and was wondering if you had some suggestions on increasing my defensive capabilities.
I do have some good gear but there’s still a lot of farming ahead of me. All suggestions are welcome.

One of my other larger issues besides defence is possibly squeezing more OA out of the build. If I were to get more resistance on my gear I could use better augments on my rings and amulet.

I know the charges of RF don’t scale the retaliation bonuses, but I also don’t know if I have enough retaliation to sacrifice those points yet.
I’ve put 8 points in Crushing Verdict plus another 1 in Judgement and Heart each for a total of 10, feeling like this makes up for my lacking OA a bit but it comes at a somewhat hefty price.
Further points in Rebuke could boost my retaliation but it doesn’t feel like the greatest investment for my build right now as I’d want some more survivability.

If I got another +all skills or +soldier skills I’d be able to spend another point in Menhir’s Bulwark and boost it to 18% but without that extra point I can’t.

I know my relic is really low and not ideal but it’s one of the better option available to me at the moment, I also don’t have the recipe for Seal of Might making me settle for Seal of Blades.

EDIT: Also is it an accident that your build without greens has 2x Open Hand of Mercy?

Getting the ToL route ey:p

Anyway I’d max Rebuxe instead of RF. Do you have any retal gloves?

Don’t use Mark advantage it does nothing for this build. You have Crushing verdict for DA sherd and they don’t stack

You can be more confident in your retal capabilities. Start farming Crucible until they nerf it:p

Rings were an accident yes

Yeah the stacking sustainability just feels really smooth, I almost always have some defensive procs going on and the multiple layers of sustain makes it so when one is cooling down, another takes its place.
I might try a more offence oriented devotion setup such as yours once I’ve managed to get more survivability from other sources such as my gear.

Changing Rebuke from 5 to 14 only gives me an extra ~5k phys retal according to GT, maybe worth it but feels like a DPS loss. If I had more retal from gear it would be a much better investment.
As for gloves, I’ll double check when I get home but I’m pretty sure I scoured my stash for some better alternative and only found really low level ones.

B-but muh Medal synergy! Yeah you might be right but isn’t it worth some points? The way I understand weapon procs is that they’re all thrown into a pool and one is randomly chosen with higher weight given to those with a higher %

So with just Smite, Shattering Smash and Zolhan’s Technique I’d have 25% to use either one of them and 25% risk of using a regular weapon attack.
If I add in Markovian Advantage I’d have ~25% chance to use any of those 4 and 0% risk of using a regular weapon attack. What I’m saying is, even if it’s the worst of the 4, it’s still better than a normal weapon attack and the others still have the same chance to be used.

I guess you could argue that it’s a waste of skill points, but with my current gear I only need 1 point to make it 7/12.

Yeah I’ll see how far I can go, have been running some SR (only unlocked something like 35) but Crucible might be good for some quick gear and let me easier progress in SR.

EDIT: Thank you for the reply, but you didn’t address my survivability question, do you think it’s mostly a gearing issue that will solve itself with some grinding rather than my skill/devotion build?
Been toying with the idea of increasing War Cry but I’m unsure how many bosses are affected by it the damage reduction.

Another thing I’ve been wondering, what’s a good skill to tie with Assassin’s Mark? I see you use it with RF, can it proc in an aoe from weapon effects activated by RF? Because otherwise it’s just single target.
And your Shield Wall is tied to Judgement, if you’re only facing 1 enemy there’s only a 25% chance of proccing it every 5 second, making it on average trigger every 20 seconds in 1v1 but the devotion CD is only 8 seconds. Seems like even putting it on Shattering Smash might give better results as you’ll trigger it more than 1 time every 5 seconds.

All i’ll say is that you don’t do flat phsy dmg with this build but retal dmg. So don’t get attached to mods that are not retal. also MA has bad animation

This is what i’d to if I were you right now

do you have a better belt?

Do you choose Consecration over Squad Tactics for its DA and armor?
Since I have the Final Stop which adds retal to Smite, might it not be worth putting it at 9/10 at least?
Maybe a bit inconsequential but 1 point in Volcanic Stride is neat for the increased range.

Sadly I don’t have a better belt, the OA and retal alone puts it miles above any other I have.

But yeah looks pretty good, will give it a try, thanks.

Nice build, added to my thread.

Ahh. So retaliation early levels is relatively weak until I get better gear? My gear has relatively little retaliation, mostly because i’m having a very hard time finding gear with it. My last play session got me a shield with about 500 flat retaliation, but RF is still rather weak with it, so i’ve stuck with cadence

Hm. I have some pieces of the perdition set from leveling my purifier, but I don’t have the full set. Does the retaliation damage type matter, or would I have success using acid + physical retaliation?

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/L2Jbq5k2 Here ya go, boss. It’s my first time using the tool so I might have spent a bit extra in some places but that sums up my build right now. I haven’t started another play session yet so i’m still level 47, and I don’t have good gear to pick from since I vendored a lot of the gear I got with my purifier. I tried using spined carapace to kick my retaliation up a bit but as I expected it was miniscule at best. I’ve gone back to using cadence for the time being, but I left my devotion path (using your devotions) and gear as I have it. Kinda of worried about aether res atm.

Also, what do you mean by “teaked”?

A typo of tweaked?

haha, I was thinking that or “twinked.”
