As title says. Same issue as here, and I’m pretty sure there were more reports on this after 1.2 as it was the patch when it started happening, can’t find these though. (Ravager missing triple swipe probably was the closest)
A lot of special monster attacks just can’t hit you at all most of the time, and it surely isn’t DA/dodge, because too consistent for certain attacks, but repositioning monster in question can suddenly make it start landing normally. In such cases multi-hit attacks miss entirely, i.e. all hits.
What I’ve noticed so far:
- bonebacks’ triple bite attack - inconsistent, most noticeable on Grundleplith as he has it worse than normal ones (i.e. rabid bonebacks);
- Gutworm’ right hand big hit - inconsistent, but sometimes you can position him the way this skill will never land;
- shamblers’ melee smack - inconsistent, most noticeable on Ancient Shamber;
- aetherial abominations’ double slam (I’ve always thought it’s special skill, but apparently it’s just alternate animation for basic attack) - pretty consistent, Amalgamation seems to be fine though;
- Nicholas Balthazar’s blade arc - inconsistent, on first fight I had to reposition him like 3 times before it started landing properly, on subsequent kills it was working fine “first try”;
- Voldrak’s overhead slam - same as Nicholas Balthazar, inconsistent (seeing that older report mentions Gulgoth, probably better check all big trolls);
- dermapterans’ double claw attack - doesn’t seem to be landing ever, on both normal bugs and heroes;
- chthonic bugs’ double claw attack - not sure if they reuse dermapteran skeleton and animations or not, but Lunal’Valgoth seems to have the same issue with his sunder attack;
- beetle bosses’ double bite;
Not to be rude, but is this issue being looked into? I picked up GD again about a week ago after about half a year break, and have been getting increasingly annoyed by this. Everything except bonebacks seems to be “new” as I can’t recall any of these problems before 1.2.1. This bug was pretty annoying on early 1.2 patches, and now it seeminlgy became much worse.
It’s just not right when monster runs to you, stops at the distance it considers close enough for melee, lands basic attacks normally and then just consistently fails to land special attacks, even without you moving at all during the whole process.
This thread made me curious, because seems somewhat related (and problem appeared after 1.2 too). “LoS blocked by terrain” might explain some of these melee hitbox issues (like Gutworm not hitting you if you position him in certain spots on the edge of pathable area), but still not all. Unless there’s something else like terrain elevation involved…
