[1.2.1.6] DRAINMASTER 9000: 4:20 Crucible Gladiator 150-170, Shard 36, Celestials, the ultimate leech tank Vitality caster Ritualist + Bonus DE builds

Looks good. Maybe missing of Celerity on gun or the amulet.

Could you explain what that meta is about and what the benefit is here ?
Does stacking that much OA increase the damage output as much (or more) than another 150% vitality damage plus casting speed ?

Is it the result of high crit damage that makes it so effective ?

Looking at the GTs for the old vs the new, it appears they have the same ~3100% Vitality/~3000 Vitality Decay Damage. The new Master of Death build gains 150 OA and 2k Health with slightly lower Casting Speed (however that can be capped with item rolls easily since it’s 195% average per GT).

With all those Drain Essence ticks, I’m sure the slightly higher OA wins out from the pumped damage from crits!

Correct me if I’m wrong here - the higher the OA the higher the chance for larger crits, right? And around 4k OA you get lots more of the darker colored crits doing more crit damage?

They really like maxing out OA and Crit damage on a lot of their specs and sometimes it pays off. Not much to explain except that it seems to be working well for Drain Essence and other channelers: I guess because you have more opportunities to crit which makes your crit damage more consistent, also works well with dots.

I actually don’t know. I always go with feel based approach. In my experience this OA overstacking works well for some builds and kind of whatever for others and some can’t achieve that without big sacrifices elsewhere.

Thanks

I guess it goes hand-in-had with the fact that almost all channeled skills have a disproportionately high crit bonus, either built-in, or available through gear.

It also helps that almost every channeling class has an easy time stacking OA (Inquisitor, Arcanist, Necromancer, and Berserker.)

Oathkeeper is the one that bucks both trends, but EOR is built different enough anyway…

I have a few builds that stacked OA and crit damage, and I’ve noticed some really high multipliers. I couldn’t tell you if it was the high OA or the high crit (or both?) this was responsible.

(Fun discussion on the subject Here though the builds discussed are most likely outdated)

Are you try Mythical Scion of Bitter Winds for more acid RR in cabalist build?

Actually did not. Could be a viable option but not sure if it can outperform Basilisk Claw here and a bit lazy to test (maybe at some point).

EDIT: also a lot of OA/casting speed is lost this way

True, but is it worth it to gain that -10% acid resistance, plus the added damage that the skill itself causes?

There is added damage to Drain Essence on Basilisk Crest as well, also higher overall %damage and additional OA. And OA is obviously super important here as you have over 100% crit damage on your main skill. Maybe you can gain a bit of extra solo damage on Bitter Winds scepter but overall I think it would be worse.
Also that Beasts racial on dagger is amazing on an Acid build.

How does this build compares to Aether DE Spellbinder?

Depends on the spec of that Spellbinder, but comparing this Ritualist to the Spellbinder we currently have in our testing, I’d say Ritualist has a bit more single target damage while Spellbinder is tankier overall.

Thanks for sharing this build! I’m looking forward to acquiring more pieces to achieve the build (currently in between this and @RSnoomak’s leveling build).

Anyway, I noticed that the GT spec is missing 40 physique to wear level 94 Korvan Plating. I’m guessing you replaced something with a % physique roll during one of the reworks?

Yep, even mentioned that under Grimtools

Can be armor or healing effects too, not a big difference as long as your Freeze res is covered.

Ahh, I see. I was confused because the build doesn’t have crafted greens, but I guess if the crafting bonuses apply to legendaries then you’d be trying to roll % physique specifically on the helm?

yep, only helmet here is craftable. Craft it at Angrim and either Physique or Armor will do.

How does Drain Essence compare to Flames of Ignaffar these days?

On paper my Chaos FoI deceiver has even higher DPS (and much higher when Hungering Void/Abominable Might is active) but that includes a lot of unconverted DoT. And Chaos is both resisted less and has less RR so hard to compare.

(And of course QoL is even more terrible and I have less health on top of that, so eh. At least with Voidsoul set I have high phys res.)

Still, seems like it’d be comparable otherwise, both in playstyle and damage?

Edit: Nope, probably not, if you consider how high the OA on this build is and the crit damage values. I somehow doubt deceiver can get OA that high.

It can have faster clear when done right but overall DE is better currently.

so, new OA meta kinda gave me a ā€œdivineā€ meme idea  Oppressor, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator - got a bit lazy at the end with double rare, and devos suddenly ended up 1pt short

Not a meme, but a very potent build, if done right. Here my version of it (based on banana’s build):
