Backer Rewards and DRM-Free Copy

That sounds like such a hassle.
I’m going to go ahead and say that I’ve already waited a few years and don’t really mind an extra week or two.
Actually, if it would make it even easier on you guys, why not just delay it up until your done patching completely and have released the expansions. I wouldn’t mind waiting until the game was completely done to play it. Would probably be better at that point even.

Tell me about it. It seems to be happening more and more in this industry, I feel sorry for the devs. Having to deal with such awful people. :frowning:

As I said, people will eventually get it. Who cares if it’s a week, month, or even a year behind. It’s not like they AREN’T getting it. They’ve already waited more than that while it’s been in early access. People are so silly. :stuck_out_tongue:

amok. You make me proud.

From one Superfan to another I am honored to present you with this sticker.

Yeah, it’s easy to feel bad about a content drought when you can actually play the Early Access version. DRM-free backers were denied even that, and now we get a late release of the final product to add insult to injury. Expected to be treated equally is not exactly entitlement. I may well be wrong about patching post release, but the way it has been handled thus-far makes me sceptical at best. The concern is not that the patches will be different, but rather that they will not come in a timely fashion i.e. the DRM-free build is not out, but the steam is out and there is not a specific timetable for the former. That sets a bad image that Crate doesn’t put a premium on DRM-free, and I have to assume otherwise until they offer the final product as proof or put out in specific detail the patching system that will be used.

Hey guys!

Firstly, please excuse my naivety in asking this question…

I purchased Grim Dawn back on December 26th 2013 via Steam. At the time that I purchased Grim Dawn I did not know what The Humble Store or Kickstarter website’s were so I just went ahead and purchased it the way I had done previously with my PC games - via Steam.

The purchase cost me $29.99USD.

Now that Grim Dawn has been officially released and there is discussion about what in-game goodies and what not early access community members will be receiving, I was wondering if I could get some guidance on whether my $29.99USD purchase entitled me to anything?

This Will - o - Wisp artificial light source sounds great. However, I only see it listed under the Loyalist Pack for $74.99USD. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that my measly $29.99USD certainly does not relate to that Pack but I was just wanting to know if there was anything that I will be receiving as a result of my 2013 purchase and if there was a possibility for a Steam purchaser to potentially upgrade his purchase so as to receive the Will - o - Wisp in game item?

Thank you very much for your assistance, guys!

Need more info, I have the legendary pack, purchased in 2011 direct from crate (with a serial number) I also have the Steam code (different # than the steam one), now Humble bundle says that steam is needed, from memory when I purchased this it was DRM free and no mention of it needing to be run via steam.

I followed the link posted to the Humble web site (and it says Steam is required) where then do we get a download for GD when DRM version is released, that doesn’t require steam. some like Steam some don’t, I fall into the latter if I can.

You can’t play without Steam at this point, they have not released the DRM-free version. It will be on the Humble library as a download at some undisclosed point hopefully before March 4th.

This is in the OP:

You get the game. Crate may/may not offer the extras as some sort of DLC. Nothing concrete though.

I realise the DRM version isn’t released just yet, it’s just that on the Humble page for GD it states that it needs steam, no mention of a steam free version or anything like that.

This is in the OP:

Thanks, bugs.

hehe really was THE reason i bought the loyalist edition, the Will - o - Wisp sounded co cool, that and the first expansion pack.

I do hope they make these items available for purchase for people who want to upgrade.

LOL at not using Steam

http://store.steampowered.com/search/?specials=1

so many free games, so many discounted games, so many sales ALL the times

and here’s what you get for your kickstarter support

It’s fine if people don’t want to use steam. They just shouldn’t then complain that a service that makes some things easier has made some things easier…

I don’t see the point of such a hurry in this so release:
What do has changed since this Steam exclusive Early Access??
The game is still playable only by the Steam users, like before.
Why not having waited for a true release? (make this game reaching out free from this platform)

Yeah, use the wonderful service that can terminate your account at any time for any reason and has abysmal customer support years after it has been around. How silly of me for not bowing down to Gabe, I thank you for enlightening me.

I actually think they should stay exclusive, we paid good money for them… not that they really will given the hacks out there, but at least it would not be Crate selling away their exclusivity

but somehow never does and actually has no good reason to do so

I am so sick and tired of this non-argument from the tinfoil faction

How silly of me for not bowing down to Gabe, I thank you for enlightening me.

You do what you want, but I fail to see the point of you always dragging Steam and how you do not use it into every other sentence of yours. You have some issues to work out.

Fair enough. And the consequences of that choice are you have to wait a fraction of time.

Let’s not dramatize it too much ey?

Sure, you’re friendly, unlike Mamba there, he’s a die-hard steam loyalist lol.
