Camera Abuse, Aggro Abuse

I would actually go for SR.

A lot more forgiving. you also get SR set

In Cr, lokarr just harangues you incessantly

Why not? I mean they aim at exactly same outcome.

Because it’s similar to using arches to block aleksander’s meteor, or using enemies to bodyblock nems.

IMO, the fact that each enemy has different aggros radiuses hardcoded into them by crate makes it a legit attribute worth using to my advantage.

Kinda like how the MS of each nem influences my target prioritization in naked Cr.

In some games the here called “Aggro Abuse” is called “Good pulling”.

TBH, i use aggro abuse and camera abuse synonymously. I often forget they are different.

@ya1: basically, I think that any design feature intentionally put in place by crate is fair game as far as “exploits” go. Because IMO that’s just smart playing.

Wow should ban the dungeon where you should not pull aggro from the statues in the side. But we didn’t know at the time that’s considered cheating :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Aggro abuse is cheese. Camera thing is just a way to make this cheese consistent. Nothing more.

I totally don’t get someone who decides to cheese a game and then willingly decides to make this cheese not work sometimes. Eating soup with a fork.

There is no cheating in WoW. It´s “Clever use of game mechanics”, even if you use a ramp to beat Chromaggus.

Iirc, Z himself stated that aggro abuse wasn’t intentional. But it stuck so he let it be.

And always choosing the same arena in Crucible is…exactly what? Bodyblock, arcs, etc.

Just like farming Crucible 150-170 wasn’t intentional image

I totally see where you’re coming from.

But in the same breath…camera abuse doesn’t just make the cheese consistent. It significantly reduces the aggro radius of each enemy.

In other words, it allows me to aggro in a way which was never intended.

One could argue that any failure to use aggro abuse properly can be attributed to the player’s mispositioning, or to sheer circumstance.

Even so, I could then argue that Z intentionally allowed aggro abuse (AA) to become a feature of the game.

GD has evolved so much over the years, why can’t this be part of its growth?

It doesn’t allow for anything that you don’t already do with aggro abuse in the first place. It just makes it impossible for them to bum-rush you. You still gotta tiptoe to the closest and make sure you don’t step too far.

You guys really go out of your way to glorify aggro abuse and at the same time justify that making it work all the time is wrong. It makes zero logical sense.

The biggest problem many people had with SR was that it was inconsistent and frustrating due to the fact that at times it would become unplayable due to faulty aggro and bum-rushing. Now this problem is solved. SR has an identity of a game mode where enemies scale but you can isolate them and it’s consistent with it. Since Zantai decided to let aggro abuse be - however cheesy it might be - the camera thing which makes it actually work should also stay.

And that’s the Problem which some people, like obviously in this Topic, can’t comprehend / want to accept / are able to understand. It’s like they think everything within the Game should be tinkered around their Needs, and if it isn’t than they need like in this example, exploit and defend it.

It’s really disturbing to see, that some people complain about “RNG”, in a mode which is meant to be “RNG”. It’s like buying Forza Horizon but than complain you can’t run around and shoot people like in GTA. The Point is, while i really do understand that some People a mode which is more consistent… SR is never meant to be such a Mode, but an RNG Mode which attracts to certain part of the Community. And you can’t fix this issue without stepping on the Foot of People who bought the Expansion for the RNG factor.

As much as i would love to see a more consistent experience(than again we already have Crucible), like i’m more in Favor of Endless-Modes like Endless Dungeon / Mapworks in Torchlight 1+2, due i really love to simply hack’n’slash through monsters in “somewhat” fresh and random-gen generated fashion(either map… or like D3 Rifts / GD SR handcrafted, randomly picked maps) while exploring maps for loot & chest & stuff, SR isn’t meant to be such a mode, and would be really unfair to people who love the mode for what it is, to be taken away - because some people can’t handle the fact they aren’t the center of the universe.

That’s why i vote and really hope that Crate / Zantai fix such an exploit like Camera-Abuse.

I’m struggling to connect the dots here mate. Why does it have to be all or nothing?

For example, shop X decides to give out free samples to promote a new candy they are selling.

There are 10 free samples.

Persons A take 1, person B takes 9.

Clearly person B is doing something which wasn’t intended.

How is aggro abuse vs. camera abuse any different?

Here’s another parallel which is closer to GD.

Let’s use crafting conduits as an example.

It’s inconsistent and frustrating to be able the get to exact skill mod + res suffix to the point where it might even become too exorbitant to use.

Should Z likewise allow players to freely choose the suffixes on the conduit they wish to craft?

Because at the end of the day, like SR, conduit crafting is meant to be dunked nips deep into the waters of RNG.

at least for law abiding citizens

Remove camera abuse and put everyone who admitted using the exploit in a shame list in the main page of the forum.

Again - I know I keep repeating myself (and that’s only because medea made me the OP of this thread  ), but I personally don’t care if camera abuse remains, or goes.

What bothers me, however, is the fact that Z uses crucible clear times as the primary criteria for for balancing.

:flushed:…why do you think that? Z. more than once said that there a lot of other criteria for balancing.
