Most of the sustain builds like vitality cabalists or deathknights cant clear fast but they are pretty much invincible outside of it. The builds that clear so fast has great AOE but abit paper in my opinion.
The infiltrator that can solo Ravager does crucible in 9 min or so but damn is it tanky.
Yeah, but some of the fastest builds, like DM Infiltrator can beat in campaign Lokkar and Mad Queen, maybe even Ravager. But with cruci buffs one can clear with 8k,3% physical or half of the resistances not capped. In realms, you should change your thinking and reevaluate your core stats-no endless stacking of damage, but CC and overcaping vital resistances.Still I wouldn’t turn my build in absurd walking fortresses just to beat one or two extra shards. In cruci OA was useless stat, but I have suspicion that maybe will matter more in new mode.
Agreed. Which is why I don’t think they are bad builds. In all honesty, I suspect that the reason why survivability is becoming less and less important in the crucible is because players are getting better at dealing with the crucible.
You learn the tells of certain enemies and know how to move in response to them, or how to avoid certain attacks altogether.
If the average skill level of a crucible player increases, the need for defence ought to decrease.
I’m just an oddball in that I’m a purist. I dislike the concept of using buffs/banners and I have never once used a consumable/elixer (until I entered the shattered realm) so I tend to limit myself to as few of buffs/banners as possible.
However, it’s a totally different story when I’m piloting one of the goofy builds I do like the nightshade reach witchhunter.
But man, you’re very good pilot!Imagine what will happen if below average player plays without buffs and banners, personally tried only once Infiltrator and died against Kuba on 154.My philosophy is better safe than sorry. Most of my builds use Royal jelly essence and have aether cluster on hotbar(I don’t use it on strong builds) so I think in realms, especially before got comfortable to use multiple consumables.Ofc if you have exp tackling Crucible naked you will have better chance to go deep in SR.
Rolling:D.Pets are like game inside the game.Spanky used to reset Crucible with GD stash on order to play without buffs and I made backups and replaced the original file after 170 run in order to replenish tributes and play everytime with 4 buffs and Vanguard banner:cool:.I sucked when it comes to time multiple skills, but am ok pilot for DW builds. My times, considering the lag are good,so my first time in realms will use Infiltrator. After some time will try pets, maybe and hopefully will see how other players succeed it and try to the same.
What happens when you die? Do you get a diminished reward like in crucible or do you just get nothing?
I always quit when I think the next will be too hard as I want to go without deaths ideallly
I may be late to the party, but my 2 cents on SR is that if could help people to post off-meta “fun” builds. I know that I may do that, and to give an honest “objective” measurement of its performance, just slap a Shard level, and people that read can immediately see where it is in the SR meta. No more anxiety of “I think my build is good enough but damn are those 7 minutes Crucible farmer intimidating”.
Might also help to oultine really weak options : if say, most builds can reasonably clear SR 35 (random number for the example), thn if a build can’t get past 25, maybe it needs a buff, something like that.
i didn’t buy the Crucible, i’m not sure SR will be my cup of tea either. the fact that i got my only crash there (thus no reward) certainly doesn’t help, but i don’t find fighting random mobs in random environments that exciting.
maybe when my builds will be more fleshed out it will become a good alternative to roguelikes/Nemesis hunt for farming, we’ll see.
There have only been 2 or 3 builds I’ve done using what was considered ‘strong’ in each patch - the darkblaze pyro, Soulrend breaker, and pre-1.0.7 dagallon purifier.
EDIT: Maybe the demonslayer PB reaper/WH…but I think I might have made that meta because no one was using PB at that point in time.
Just because a build isn’t ‘meta,’ doesn’t mean it can’t do well IMO.
And just because flashfarmers are all the hype right now, doesn’t mean say a S&B octavius build is bad. On the contrary, it’s really really good at what it does - outlasting enemies.
But there’s no way it can compete in terms of clear times, and that’s just how the cookie crumbles.
Aurelius once said, ‘I have often wondered how it is that every man loves himself more than all the rest of men, but yet sets less value on his own opinions of himself than on the opinions of others.’
I just made my first (almost) proper run on realms. Used my ranged Tactician. Made through shard 18 then fucking BSOD hit me. Opened GDstash to get a waystone cause I’m not trying to rerun that 18 shards again. Not this night. And then I noticed the description that it only gets till shard 15, which is fine by me but when I get farther will the waystones also get better? Cause running from 15 to say 75 will be a total chore if it doesn’t.
