I tested today farming Ulraprax, the Hive Matriarch in the Swarming Hive is way too fast to collect Boss souls.It takes around 2 minutes including loading time !
I don’t know if there are other boss faster to reach, but I will increase the number of boss souls needed for the buff, maybe 20.

In order to balance the numbers, I would like to know :
1- If you also play with another mod enabled like DAIL or Grimmest or notHow long it takes to :
2- Collect 180 Hero souls
3- Collect 28 Legendary essences
4- Kill all the boss
5- Collect 8 boss souls (in minutes)

Changed the buff cost to spawn omega nemesis to 20 boss souls.
I will wait for players to tell me how much is fair, but 8 was really a bargain.Maybe 15 would be the right spot but keep in mind some boss are really fast to farm (the wasp takes really less than 2 minutes if you have a fast loading time).

Faction_omega_hostile is :

  • hostile to the player (-1000)
  • ally with every other faction (24000

For Modders and compatibility: I use Faction13 for faction_omega_hostile

Some feedback for v0.5!

(DAIL 0048 s-mode, ultimate, level 99 stormcaller)

  • Kilrians mechanics makes things challenging, extra hard in s-mode since heroes multiply around Kilrian & the empowered nemesis. He is harder than all the empowered nemesis bosses.
  • I suggest adding a chance for omega Kilrian to drop 1/4 of Kilrians shattered soul (same droprate as vanilla Kilrian, which is pretty low). It’s the component with the lowest droprate in the game, having empowered also dropping it wouldn’t hurt.
  • The curse AoE that spawns when you open nemesis chest with omega spawn is too fast and big. You can never avoid it and you will always die unless you you use aether cluster - then maybe you have a chance to get away… I thought there was a few seconds delay for the player to run out? Shouldn’t there be?
  • If you don’t want to nerf the omega curse, perhaps add aether cluster as craftable recipe from smiths? Too low droprate in vanilla.

Now a question - how realistic is it to get omega level 100? How many hours will it take purely grinding omega quest? Do you think any player will ever reach level 100 omega? :stuck_out_tongue:
I think I would hang myself from the ceiling if I grinded to level 20 a whole week non-stop - anything above that would be a nightmare!

Is this a bug? I only have 5 nemesis souls, but it shows 9 in the crafting-window.

On Grimmest B, with a strong Blademaster killing all the bosses doesn’t take too long. Only the Cthonian and Aetherial Nemesis feel grindy if they’re well hidden. I’m fairly sure that the 180 Hero Souls will eventually become the limiting factor.

28 legendary essences is an interesting one because of DGA. The component vendor allows me to craft almost an endless number of Tinkerer’s Belts (or similar).

1- Kilrian Omega guard:I will add Kilrians shattered soul, I will add it to the list of the materias he can drop.
Are you sure normal Kilrian has a low droprate, from what I see it’s 45 %?
For Omega guard I think I will make it 5% (20% chance to drop a materia and 25% chance to be Kilrians shattered soul)

2 - Curse Aoe , I like the idea of the delay, now I will need to see how to make this possible with the engine…
Also you can use potion to increase your speed and get out faster ( (like Elixir of the Hunt) or skill making you invulnerable (miror ereoctes) or item skills (Mark of Divinity- Divine Light) or swith your weapons to Empowered Lichguard (Lichguard 80% damage absorption for 5 seconds and vitality resistance against curse damage type) just to avoid it.
You might even try other item skills to protect you (Voidwalker Footpads against vitality but maybe not enough protection).
For the delay I can use a meteor like effect that casts the curse when it hits the ground this way the player will see it coming.*

3- Nemesis souls : The engine only show you the first possible reagent in the list.
However, you can craft a Potion of Attribute with an empty potion + either a Nemesis soul or ANY “normal” Nemesis monster infrequent (the shoulder they drop).I might rename "power of a Nemesis to Nemesis soul (even if they don’t drop soul).
A Nemesis soul is in reality a Nemesis shoulder MI converted into a nemesis soul.The advantage of a Nemesis soul is you can stack them and don’t feel like wasting the space stash to keep the shoulders, that’s why I make it, but you can directly use a Nemesis MI shoulder in the recipe.
Also, the same thing will happen with the Nemesis soul crafting recipe : you can use ANY Nemesis shoulder not only the one that appear in the recipe (Valdaran’s Mantle I think).

For Omega level 100, I would like to reduce the grind to 4 or 5 hours per level = 400 or 500 hours.
I played more than 518 hours Grim Dawn, 630 hours Marvel Heroes, more than 1000 hours Diablo 3, so I think some players will achieve it.
However I need some feedback to know the time you spend to achieve each objectives and adjust the numbers.

@Modd Is the 180 Hero soul for you also the limiting factor ?In your screenshot you still have more than 1500 Hero souls ?
Need to look at the recipe to craft Tinkerer’s Belts, I might need to add a Legendary essence requirement to craft each Legendary item, if it’s really faster than finding a Legendary item.

EDIT :*For the delay, I don’t know if I will do it or a very short one to allow players to avoid only a part, I want player to use the weapon switching feature, that I rarely see used and is not in other aRPG (Diablo, POE,Marvel Heroes).It instantly gives you the skills of your second set of weapons, and any class can use Empowered Lichguard for a 5 seconds protection or Fiend’s-Resolve (50% damage absorption + Health restored).
It’s supposed to ba a rare fight were you also use your rare crafted potions.
You can also use Empowered Death Ward for 100% Vitality Resistance, 100% Resistance to Life Reduction,1000 Health Restored,30% Health Restored)

I’m getting them somewhat faster than every 4 hours at the moment - depending on Benn’jhar. But I have a stockpile of hero souls.

It is worth mentioning that without DGA legendary essences would definitely be the limiting factor for me. I’d be farming a few hours for nothing but random legendaries to scrap.

I feel like there’s quite a lot of crossover between the souls and essences. If the DGA work around didn’t exist, then I’d be doing the exact same thing to get both of them: slaying heroes in order to get legendaries. It isn’t that one or the other is entirely redundant, but I don’t think it would make much difference if one or the other was removed entirely - at least as things stand right now.

Well legendary essences also allow you to have a use for “worthless legendary” (bad roll or doesn’t suit your build…) instead of selling them because they take too much space in your inventory.
Also some of the legendary recipe to craft armor head item will require 1 additional legendary essence in the next build like the tinker Ingenuity.I will let the other formulas untouched for now, but tell me if they are too easy to abuse to get legendary.

I was happy enough using bad legendaries with dynamite for some mats :slight_smile: But it’s not a big deal!

So I timed an entire run. DAIL 0046, Grimmest B. This means only 160 Hero Souls and 40 Legendary Essences, no Boss Souls.

I started with 1236 Souls. 44 Essences.

19: Zantarin dead (just left of Ikon, first place I looked)
21: Rashalga
27: Kilrian (killed the 3 dudes from that one quest along the way)
32: Moos (in SOT3)
39: Alkamos (lost a minute to mindlessly walking into dead ends)
43: Fabius (killed Cronley first, found Fabius in the Forges area)
47: Sentinel

At this point I had 1344 souls and about 13 legendaries found.

My route for Benn’jhar is 3 points in the Necropolis Interior and Darkvale Gate (including the boss). Route for Valdaren is the three spots on the way to the Warden (who I also kill). Both appeared on the third run.

When the quest completed I was at 1235 Souls. After I salvaged stuff I was at 21 Essences, but I kept 6 legendaries. I’m not entirely sure how the Boss Soul thing works, but I believe I killed enough bosses to get the required amount.

Net loss of 1 Soul (would be 21 with 180 required). Net loss of 23 Essences (would be 5 with 28 required, would be -1 if I salvaged everything). It actually looks like the numbers all kind of balance out but depending on the annoying two Nemesis the runs take 1 hour+.

I was using a level 100 Blademaster with 5/5 Deathmarked and I Shadow Strike for movement a lot. I kill all the Nemesis in under 10 seconds (except Moos), I skipped as much trash as possible but kill all heroes I see. I definitely got lucky with Nemesis spawns.

Oh, it’s worth noting I got my first Omega Nemesis boss dude earlier in the day. The cursed area didn’t really hurt me, I have high resists and huge regen - but I did move out of it just to be safe.

Second run took 56 minutes to kill all but Valdaran, including having to farm Moos twice due to a crash. It took more than an hour of Warden runs to get Valdaran. I made a huge net gain on Hero Souls and would have broken even on Legendary Essences if it only took 28. But seeing that DAIL is going to get a Nemesis announce, that’s going to make even the worst runs pretty efficient.

as a former “taken” you have some connection to them and should be able to feel them when they are nearby right?!

also their spawning is handled by lua so it would be easy to add a little notify script in there for each one :smiley:

It seems to me the actual numbers (180 Hero souls and 28 legendary) are quite good : you achieve collecting the required amount after killing all quest objectives.

However I would like the Omega system to last longer.Currently it’s a 1 hour quest, so you will achieve Omega level 100 in only 100 hours, it will be fast.I would like to add the new boss from the expansion but at this rate players will be level 100 before it’s released !

In the meantime I will change the reward after level 100, to 33% potion attribute and 67% empty potion.
The recipe to craft a potion of attribute will now require :
-1 Empty potion of attribute
-5 Nemesis shoulder MI
-180 Hero souls
-28 Legendary essences
-20 Boss souls
-1 Mythical relic of level 70 (any one)

Great to know it doesn’t kill all players and you have the time to get out of it alive !
Did you use some Health/Elixir of the Hunt potion or other consumable ?
Did you switch weapons for Empowered Lichguard to avoid some damage ?
The curse has a -100 flat reduction resistance so you are supposed to still feel pain.
Also it gives -100% flat total damage, so you will not do any damage if you stay inside ! (I don’t remember in what version I added that).
Well I think I won’t add the delay to the curse : players have different ways to get out of it alive.

I would have -2 Vitality resist with a 100 point penalty so I’m not sure why it didn’t hurt much - perhaps it just lined up with all my healing things. No consumables, no gear switch (for reference I can face-tank 4 Shar’zuls without any worries, I’m tanky). Would melee or ranged dodge help? (I doubt it?). 3300 DA?

It might be safer to call it a 2 hour quest. Not everyone has a movement ability and my times don’t include the 10 minutes it takes to sort out my inventory at the end.

You could bottleneck the whole thing by increasing the Hero Soul cost to something like 300 and Legendary Essences back to 40. On Grimmest B you’d get about half the souls killing the bosses, then you’d have to farm a decent while longer. “Complete any 10 bounties” would add 30 minutes or more.

The attribute potions are going to be extremely powerful for people who play a lot / a long time - you’ll get similar issues to the Paragon 2000+ folks in Diablo 3, but without GRn+1 to offer more challenge.

Im yet to even finish an omega quest and the main reason is nothing is unlocked on Ultimate so I have to run through the whole game

I found the Aetherial nemesis and went back to town to buy the OMega Nemesis buff, went back killed and opened box and nothing happened.

Went back to npc and he stated I had the buff, continued playing and went and found Fabius, killed him opened the box and nothing happened, npc still states I have the buff - DAIL 0048

Hi , you have to complete at least 1 Omega quest for the buff to take effect.
Don’t worry the buff is not wasted and will be used once you complete your first quest and open the chest.
Once you are Omega level 1 or more every time you buy a buff it will work except if you trigger “naturaly” the 4% chance to spawn an Omega Nemesis, in this case you will keep the buff and it will trigger the next time.

I wrote this information somewhere and then mistakenly deleted it when editing a post.I want players to farm Omega boss only after reaching at least Omega level 1.

Im playing Xmode currently, it would take hours to finish this quest. I think theres a new update for Xmode but my dail is screwed so im still on 0048 - drop rate is actually very low

I am lvl 82 and have 2700 OA and that is 0% crit, I just fought 3-4 Bolvars at once and it took over 2 minutes to kill them with approx 80kdps and I was leeching approx 5khp a second just to survive - playing broken Fangshi class

I dont even know how long Loghorrean will take…maybe 15 minutes alone?

That previous post I made I was on S mode but I cant stand the XP on that mode - I havent even fought a Nemesis yet on X, Fabius could be unkillable. If Moosialuke splits in 4 theres no chance I dont think, I just fought a couple of Venarius Bonebreaker in aether mines and he was hitting me for 8-9k x 4 at once and you cant face tank

My game keeps crashing the moment Loghorrean attacks me, tried 3 times and on the third walked in slowly, stood there and when his projectiles hit me I crashed right away, on DAIL48 atm.

I have 0049 but was dropping DGA items so ill try 49 and see.
0049 is fine, didnt crash
