[Dev] Omega Mod

Thank you Kathanious, you are doing a great job !
I will be updating Omega Mod to make some balance adjustments.
For example in next build I will reduce the max number of hammer from Omega guards.
When the expansion will be released I will also add the boss monsters to the Omega quest.

I tested in the latest DAIL version (59) and your standalone version of the mod (0.64), and I am unable to actually receive the buffs from the Omega NPC. I can gain levels just fine, get my orbs, and spend them on buffs. But when I get to applying said buffs (“Please buff me !” option), when I click it in the conversation window nothing happens. No buff icon, no change in stats, nada. I could click “Endless projectile speed 1” or any buff option until the cows come home yet no buff appears.

I feel like I’m crazy and no one else is having issues because I see no posts about it or that I’m the only one that cares to actually use the buffs part of the mod.

Thank you for your feedback, I just tested it you are right, I must have done something wrong.I am looking into this, now and will upload a fix.

EDIT: Even Omega v0.63 is bugged with the new Grim Dawn patch 1.0.0.6, I had to recompile the mod otherwise the character NPC did not appear, because it was compiled with an old Grim Dawn engine.

However I don’t know why the function cast skill doesn’t work now.

No problem, I’ve been farming Lost Treasures bosses in DAIL in the meantime!

FOUND why !
I can’t believe they changed this.
So since last patch, now the NPC who cast the skills MUST have them in his skill tree which means there are only 17 available skills slots.
They were infinite before , I don’t why they changed this …

Increased Omega Items drop rate to 1%.
Reworked Omega shield skill proc (still in development)

Temporary fix to the new way Cast skill now works in last patch.
Modders are now limited to only 17 available skill slots per NPC so for now, only the following endless skills work :

Total speed lvl 1-5 and lvl30
All damage lvl 7
Health lvl 1
Pet damage lvl 1
Absolute reduction lvl 1
Cooldown reduction lvl 1
Defense lvl 1
Life leech lvl 1
Projectile speed lv5
Shield lvl 5

Omega boss are still in development.
Added a skill that boosts them when they fall under 50 % health
They now also cast every 3 seconds a totem that can be destroyed.This totem cast a meteor skill like that should be avoidable and very slow moving orbs that sould also be avoidable.
Omega guard hammers have been capped to max 5 (first circle) and max 7 (3rd circle).Second circle is fragment and capped to 10.

Nooooo the energy cost reduction is gone :cry:. That was the one I wanted most for my build, though I understand that for most people it’s completely unnecessary.

Maybe you just take over a second NPC if you want the other buffs?

Don’t worry , I will make all skills works in a later update.yes I think I will add a conversation line that will switch NPC to the one that can cast the skills.

Have you considered adding any other buffs to choose from? Like Reflect Damage Reduction (stat on Uroboruuk’s Anguish), +OA%/+crit damage, or Chance to Avoid Projectiles/Melee Attacks? If you’re going to be doing stuff with NPCs to be able to offer more skills back to what it was, you could have space for more options as well. Just some thoughts, thanks for the quick work on getting the mod working again regardless.

I will wait for the expansion before thinking about adding new endless skils.

Intoduced a conversation line to switch NPC Omega quest giver since it’s not anymore possible to have more than 17 skills per NPC:

NPC Original can cast :
Cooldown Reduction , Absolute Resistance Reduction, Max Resistance, Skill Energy Cost Reduction, Attack damage converted to health, Defense, Health, Petmaster (1-2), Reflection(1-2), Shield (1-5),Speed (1)
NPC version 1 can cast :Projectile Speed(1-5),All damage (1-7),Total Speed (2-6)
NPC version 2 can cast :Total Speed (7- 23)
NPC version 3 can cast :Total Speed (24-30)

Understandable, it is possible that they add new stats with it.

At 50% Health Omega boss have a buff, start spawming totem(cast meteor, slow bolts) and have a mirror of ereoctes 3s duration /40s cooldown.

New End-game content : Kill Chain
Omega boss now have 75% chance to drop an Experience potion and a 25% chance to drop a Challenge Token 1.This token will start a chain of kills all around Cairn.
In Ultimate Difficulty,with your token in your inventory, open the Chest in Edge of Reality, after defeating the clone of John Bourbon.
Your token will be destroyed, an improved version of the Sentinel will spawn, and drop a Challenge Token 2.
This token will tell you where to spawn the next boss, until Challenge token 20.
You will encounter these bosses in secret chest location, in ultimate difficulty, if you have already discovered those chests before and have the right token in your inventory.The token will be destroyed, and the boss will drop the next one once killed.
Last boss of the kill chain will drop a potion of experience and give you Hero souls and boss souls (maybe I will make a pet focused Omega item from him later).
Don’t confuse the Secret chest are not the one-chot chests.They will act normally if you haven’t the token or aren’t in Ultimate difficulty .

Waiting for players to tell if they have successfully completed the chain and if it is worth the time.

Is that it? I’m already drowning in souls.

Perhaps soul drop rate needs to be randomized at 50% or less for heros and leave bosses at 100%? :stuck_out_tongue:

Or maybe another market function to burn up those soul currencies. Maybe legendary recipes for 100 souls or something.

It is just for now until I find the time to make a Monster Infrequent Omega item that only drop from this boss.
I would like the players to tell me if the chain quest is already working 100% from Challenge boss 1 to boss 20.

Maybe I will reduce the drop chance at 50% in next version.But I fear there will be a hard gap between players playing the normal game and those playing with Grimmer and Grimmest that have double spawn rate (my CPU has a hard time with this mod!).

Grimmer equivalent in DAIL as I understand it, yes. Got a few thousand Hero Souls in my inventory.

Reduced Hero Souls drop rate to 75%.
Intoduced Omega chest MI dropping from last challenge boss (temporary).Focused on improving pet damage, resistance, cooldown…
Last challenge boss no longer give Hero souls.

I don’t want players to farm a boss to have Hero souls otherwise they won’t kill Heroes on the way to the boss (if they have a teleport skill they will just rush to the boss, skipping all content between).

I think you should balance for vanilla. I believe that is the leaning of most mod devs. I can reduce drop rate in DAIL variation.
