With our first DLC right around the corner, the team has been discussing our next steps for supporting Farthest Frontier. We have big ideas for v1.2 and an expansion, but it occurs to us that the community may also be looking for other types of content.
For Grim Dawn, we have released a series of Loyalist Packs (#1, #2, #3). In fact, the third one exists because the community poked us for years to make another. We are wondering if our Frontier players would be interested in something similar?
The idea would be to release cosmetic packs that offer alternate visuals for major structures (ex. the Town Center, Trading Post, Market, Temple, etc). These could be themed around other cultures to give you more variety, ex. we could go classic European and turn the Temple into a cathedral and the Barracks into a castle.
These packs would not impact gameplay, so no FOMO if you don’t acquire them all. Just like with Grim Dawn, these would be a way to express your support for Crate’s work, but you get baller art in the process.
Let us know your thoughts!
Are you interested in Farthest Frontier Loyalist Packs?
I don’t buy Crate loyalist packs for the goodies, I buy them because you guys make excellent games at a shockingly low price point and I can’t abide by having you going out of business.
Honestly? I like the idea. But, as Dirge said, neither I nor my partner buy them for the cosmetics. It’s to support a dev team that delivers great products at genuinely good price points, who have a proven reputation of consistently supporting their releases, and maintain a good relationship with their community.
I’m all for it! I’ve spent hundreds of hours in the game, played through tons of scenarios, and I can honestly say that there could be more variety in buildings with the same functions. This variety would be especially useful in large cities made up of several districts.
I am not really interested in this idea. I would rather the development time be spent on adding more content to the core game. Especially making battles more complex. I would also like to see the map expanded to include full “raider” towns that you could invade and take over. Or even expand to have multiple towns/town centers to manage.
May be I’m going to buy it if there is it because I like FF. But, to be honest, I won’t to buy soon because I’m a little boring the texture pack which refracting the times and the countries…
Speaking of the appearance of the barracks, perhaps you can add an alternative visual effect of soldier appearance? It can make the appearance of soldiers more delicate and realistic, making them look cooler, similar to the style of “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2” and “Manor Lords”. At the same time, make the main color of the military flag correspond to the color of the soldier’s clothing, and the pattern of the military flag correspond to the pattern of the shield (if the soldier has a shield).
I voted yes but I realise that a lot of work goes into designing cosmetic packs. With the limited resources you might have to develop FF further, new loyalist packs should not come at the cost of having to wait longer for expansion packs or other new contents, let only patching some of the flaws that still exist in 1.1.1. (e.g. I still find the workforce allocation in the game in need of improvement, e.g. settlers carrying stone or coal etc. across almost the entire map despite available storage options close by). So in short: YES, but…
Just refund my money. The game is unfinished, so why an expansion pack? I’ve put up with it until now because it’s disgusting, but I can’t take it anymore. Unreleased upgrade buildings and various balance issues, The problem of alcohol’s social reflection. I don’t even have hope for you anymore.
I didn’t intend to say anything to you either. It is because you represented the developers. 15% opposed the offer to create something new. Why would they go out of their way to oppose it?
