Font style in the upcoming patch and expansion

For years, the text in the Codex window—specifically for notes and quests—has been very hard to read; this is especially true for me in the German version, as it is far too faint and, above all, too small.

Can any of the developers tell me if the quality of the text in the Codex has been improved? The quest list on the right-hand side has been improved, and I really like it.

It would be great if the Codex saw similar improvements.

Many thanks…

you can try v1.3 and see if your GD version is on steam
or you can see screenshots in the ptr section of forum (there was a couple posts about UI where log stuff was posted iirc)

Oh nice, i will take a look at this thx

*if you try the v1.3 beta on steam, remember to backup your saves first Public Testing FAQ
v1.3 isn’t backwards compatible with currently live, so if you decide to not wanna stay on playtest you’ll need the old saves to revert (copy/backup entire save folder not just char file)
if you do go on playtest you can also just continue through one existing saves on v1.3 until it goes live

But…

I have one more question, since you mentioned save files…

I started a completely new character two days ago—one I want to play through normally until the expansion arrives (I haven’t played in years) just to get back into the swing of things. Back then, Grim Internals was still active ;).
I only have a new character, though; I didn’t delete the blacksmith, the stash, or the illusions—I’m keeping those. I am trying to do everything possible with the new character, though, since quite a few new areas have been added that I’ve never visited before.

Will those old save files work? In other words, will everything carry over to the new system so I can take that character into FoA? And, of course, do the same with my existing characters?

That’s all I need to know; like I said, I don’t want to test out the new stuff beforehand…

Many thanks.

should work
only thing i’ve seen recently was someone that said they loaded a 10+yo save or something from around early access/early release, that had some kinks (quests? something don’t remember) - which i think got fixed by sending the save to devs in bug report (it’s very possible i’m mixing up 2 different incidents)
besides such far outlier carrying on should work as normal, both on 1.2.1.6 and from that into v1.3/fangs when it goes live

If it’s any comfort i’ve loaded saves from as far back as 2017 without issue, both on 1.2.1.6 and the v1.3 ptr, and i don’t recall many mentions of such not working for others either.

I got mine from GoG and yesterday I noticed a small banner (pop up) on the lower right-hand side (before the game launched) that Grim Dawn was updated. I’m guessing version 1.2.1.2 to 1.2.1.6?

Edit.

That can’t be right. 1.2.1.6 was a hot fix 3 months ago. So, what was updated? Could it have been something minor on GoG’s end? Not that it really matters, I’m just curious.

Probably. As you said nothing recent for the current live version of the game.

We, starving piggies, haven’t been fed by updates since last year. :pig2:

Maybe you had some local file that got changed and it restored it? I don’t see any updates here.

Makes sense.

I was thinking it might have been in preparation for the xpack launch next month. I guess not. Piggies will have to wait a little while longer.

Maybe. If it wasn’t so close to Fangs launch, I wouldn’t have registered it. I would have dismissed it and forgotten about it.
