Grim Misadventure #187 - Wights Arise

A Grim Misadventure? Today? An astute observation. Last time, we unveiled the inner workings of the Berserker mastery’s class set. Today, we dive back into the grim history of Asterkarn, and some of its lingering consequences. But first, if you have been paying attention to the public playtest, you will be pleased to learn that we will be finalizing the update in the next couple weeks so that it can go live for everyone this holiday season. If you have any wishes, dreams, and concerns that you want to see acted upon in v1.2.1.3, this may be your last chance, but do not fret, for there will always be future opportunities.

The chilling homeland of the Kurn is rife with the remnants of past conflicts. These frozen battlefields scar the land to this day, reminders of the wars of old. Countless brave heroes lost their lives in the defense of the Kurn ways. Many never received their proper burial rites, their souls left to languish where they were felled. Over time, even the most noble spirit can become twisted by the poison of resentment and past grudges, never able to pass on beyond the veil where they could find eternal rest. These anguished beings sometimes return to their deceased body, forming a bitter vengeful entity known as a wight.

While wights are not entirely without their faculties, they are driven solely by angst and can rarely be reasoned with. When your last living moments were filled with brutal conflict and misery, such powerful memories are not so easily washed away. As former warlords and mighty warriors, wights wield formidable power, their frozen blades imbued with decay and the chill of Asterkarn.

Those who once wielded magic in the name of the Kurn focus their powers through grisly fetishes of bone. Should one be unfortunate enough to come face to face with the fallen legends of the Kurn, perhaps other relics of their past could be acquired as well…

Option to set permanent night would be nice…

And to add answer to your comment from the stream that it is unusual - GD at night looks beautiful, those spell effects during nighttime are something else :face_holding_back_tears:

Draugr warriors! I like it!

Friends, taking into account what has already been presented and what is still being, we will have a lot of work and thousands of hours of great fun, congratulations to the developers for the excellent work they are doing, I am very proud to be part of this community.

Putting more physical damage conversion options for pets (ex: elemental/vitality/acid etc) would be nice, but not a must

new DLC will be insane.
Did they ever mention that a more detailed lootfilter is also planned ?

Still hoping that one day, Rare and MI drops get normalized at level 100. We still have utter chaos where some things from some enemies will always drop the level 94 version at the player character level cap while a lot of others are still stuck on the often weird ratio of split between 84 and 94 versions.

My go to example:
Voldrak - drops ONLY level 94 of his weapon the moment he hits monster level 98.
Mogara - drops both level 94 and 84 of her amulet until monster level 110 in a weird 55.6/44.4 percentage split.

Even worse with non-boss MIs. For some, the Ultimate scaling will bump the enemy level enough to eliminate the 84 drops, and for others, you are stuck with the coinflip forever as you can’t realistically increase the relevant enemy’s level high enough.

Always thought it’d make for a good level 100 reward. Though maybe, this could be done through the Ascension mode?

will all prefixes from the coundites gain full support (acid or chaos sky shard, for example), so that it would be possible to calmly make an endgame build through each such transmute or with its idea?

While wights are not entirely without their faculties, they are driven solely by angst and can rarely be reasoned with.

Nice, sentient wight NPC confirmed! Hopefully someone of the Fald family.

Those MIs sure look powerful. In fact, you could call it wight pow-
