Grim Misadventure #190 - They See Me Rerollin'

I get where you’re coming from. I’ve some Franchises / Games as well, where newer entries are way to generous to handout things and i’d argue that does more harm then being helpfull, because it devalues the items and the hunt for it, and also shortens the playtime on a huge amount. (And some people want to have games where they can sink time into, and not just always the most casual ones where 50hours in and nothing left to do).

But i find you miss the point here. The game is now ~10 years old, most people who wanted to sink their theeth in, did already, at the games prime time when it was still fresh. Now implementing such a feature can be a netpositive for both, veterans to get back to it once the next expansion drop, as well newcomers which otherwise would think it’s too late to get into or invest that much time & effort.

And you also have to keep in mind, we’re now at the 3rd Expansion. RNG-Carrots while vital for an ARPG (i’d argue atleast), can become pretty much painfull in the long run the more content a game gets. If you have a basegame with 10x RNG to hunt for specific items for an fair amount of basegame items it hits differently compared to a game which have the 10x amount of items because being 3 expansion in, - to have 10x of the RNG grind on top of that can be too much, too overwhelming, too grindy, too bloated. And considering that’s a special item you need to use that feature and not just iron-bits also balance it out to not being a free-handout card.

Sounds great, can’t wait for the next misadventure!

Please, instead of an item, make it a temporary effect on the character like we have in Median XL. A lot of players dupe materials. This would prevent this situation and also add pressure to a boss fight! Unless, of course, you guys are aiming to bring us a Server in the future :stuck_out_tongue: then materials would be 100% ok!

:notes: They see me re-rolling on my segue, I know they’re all thinking I’m so white 'n nerdy…

Oh god, PLEASE don’t! I’d absolutely hate that.

The feature is dedicated to the majority of players who don’t.

Those players won’t be using this feature – they already craft items with their perfect affixes using the tools that allow that.

I was worrying that affix rerolling would become better than killing monsters, but if the mat is somewhat rare it should be ok, right? It’s also nice that it doesn’t have damage type bias because it’s actually gonna have different role than killing monsters and get loot from it. Seem like a great addition to the game, I can’t wait to create some meme MI/build with it!

Wow, so many people are actually against abolishing an obsolete mechanic of target farming…

Suppose I want a Fangs of Megara amulet with a specific affix for my build. I can only get it from Megara (or what was its name… The boss manicore). So I have to re-run megara over and over. Which is boring and pointless.

But with crafting, I can now just hunt ashes. And I assume I can hunt them everywhere. So I can mix running megara with playing other areas. Which is good. I farm for the item with a desired affix and get the other affix through rerolling the item.

Forced target farming sucks. I quickly left Lost epoch because of it. I was sick of running the frost boss of obelisks, and no other boss in the game would drop the item I wanted.

Very good move.

It all comes down to how rare the ashes are.

Too rare and it changes nothing.

Too.common and it trvializes item hunting.

I personally like this change. But, I’m more interested in knowing the approximate release date at this point. Fingers crossed for a 2025 release.

Please please please let the Marauder’s Set become Endgame Viable with this new update. Or a future one after the Awakening function is added.

Let’s update all 10+ years old games and remove the originals from shops. If somebody wanted to play them, he already did. No product that old shall stain the market.
Sadly, this really is happening. All I can do is grab offline installers while I can still find them.

Amazing!
Now we need “moar” extra space and an easy way to select characters from the main menu and i`m happy.
A table display of characters would help a lot instead of scrolling the list. This helps if you have a lot of toons like me

P.S: Or maybe there is already a mod which makes character selection more easy?

Somehow i thought that you could reroll like this:
item A with affix you don’t need
item B which you need but which is lacking the affix you want
put both items in Inventor window, check “tranfer affix from item A to affix in item B, destroying the item A in the process” and obtain item B with the affix you need.
THAT would be a huge powercreep and this is why it is not happening.

WIth the currently proposed system it’s just another way of farming the item you need, either the item itself of the rare crafting materials (+ iron bits) required to reroll the item.

It really makes sense to keep the double rare MI to have a change to reroll them into something you want.

This is great news for my Heart Piercing Ugdenbog Boltthrower of Bestial Rage! My sheer perplexity with this item even drove me to try a hybrid pierce/pet build. (Would not recommend.)

I’m always so happy to find a Weird Al reference in the wild. :guitar:

Thanks Zantai, please next update show us those wolf pet summon skill tree in new mastery please!

The screenshots show 4 buttons on the bottom of the reroll window.
I assume they are:

  • Reroll prefix
  • Reroll suffix
  • Reroll seed
  • … but what’s the fourth one?

I guess the 4th button is for seed (the icon looks like a seed).

The 3rd then would be for “ reroll… the new Ascended affix non-Monster Infrequents will be able to roll in Ascendant Mode.”

YES!!!

Words cannot express how thankful I am for this feature!!!

Im someone who never wants to use GD Stash- Ive been playing for 7 years and never touched it! This re-rolling feature will allow me to min-max in a much more flavorful and thematic way!

Yet another reason grinding in GD is so superior to other ARPGs!

No thanks, I actually want it to stay magical in case I actually want something like of Vitality or of Attack.

Also, rerolling magical affixes should be cheaper than for rare.

I hope this is linearly and not proportionally, because I don’t want the cost to double after the first roll.

It’s reroll ascendant affix. I’m not sure what it represents but we have seen this symbol elsewhere:
